Nice collection - exactly what it says it is.......2007-04-09

This is a nice collection for those who do not already own their three albums produced for ABC (1975's Wind on the Water, 1976's Whistling Down the Wire, and 1977's Live). It includes two minor hits "Carry On" and the inspiring "Out of the Darkness". It also includes a live version of the 1972 hit "Immigration Man". Highly recommended if you do not already own the individual releases.

An outstanding collection of their best material from this time period. Plus some very fine "live cuts" that are very enjoyable.
If you want a fine collection of music from these legendary
musicians, and you like the Crosby/Nash type of music, this a definately a cd you will want to add to your collection

A nice reminder.......2002-12-25

This collection is a nice reminder of all the great music that Nash and Crosby made while on hiatus from the mighty CSN&Y. Every track a winner.

The Other Great CSNY Offshoot.......2002-10-24

This is a very fine selection of tracks from the golden age of the music that David Crosby and Graham Nash made away from the CSNY mothership. At this point in time, Crosby and Nash were writing songs that were very accessible but still musically subtle, and playing them with the same band of LA studio geniuses that made the early albums by James Taylor, et. al., so memorable, including Danny Kortchmar, David Lindley, and Russ Kunkel. If you already own "Wind on the Water," "Whistling Down the Wire," and "Crosby/Nash Live," you already have these tracks, but if you don't, this is a great package of most of the best material from those albums.

For Diehard Fans Only.......2002-10-18

Unfortunately, this collection is drawn from only two studio albums & one "live" one during the duo's years with ABC (1975-77), and is short on worthy "best-of" material. Arguably, there are three or four very good songs here, including "Carry Me" and "To The Last Whale." Beyond that things things go downhill sharply, with a majority of the set consisting of unmemorable filler. If you're a big CSN(Y) fan you probably already own half of these recordings. If not, you probably don't need this CD either.

Thanks to MCA we have the definitive John Mayall collection which collects
32 of his best tracks while recording for ABC Records. Drivin' On: The ABC
Years 1975 To 1982 also features 4 unreleased live tracks with both former
John Mayall Bluesbreakers members, Former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor & still
current Fleetwood Mac member bassist John McVie. These tracks "Hard Times
Again," Looking Out For Willie," My Time After Awhile" & Howling Moon" are
killer performances recorded in Washington D.C. June '82 on their U.S.
tour. Also featured is a single edit of John's '75 debut ABC Records single
" Step Into The Sun". The remaining cuts show John at his ultimate best
with the strongest cuts picked from his past ABC Records LP's to conclude
this new 2 CD set. Exceptional unreleased pixs & superb liner notes with

The REAL King Of Soul!.......2006-04-13

People talk about Motown and it's artists all the time, occasionally mentioning the Holland/Dozier sonwriting team. The major third of that team was Lamont Dozier. This man churned out more HIT records than anybody else that I can think of in conjunction with the likes of Diana Ross & the Supremes, the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes and a million other artists. He did'nt stop there, he established his own record company (Invictus) and got a slew of other hits and later began a new life as a singing performer himself. ALL of Motown owes Lamont Dozier for creating at least one third of Motown's success. When you listen to this collection of performances by this man, you will realize that he actually sings better than any of the artists he produced, and Motown never bothered to produce him. Lamont Dozier is not only the King Of Soul but he is a king maker. He wrote about 10 times as many hits as Berry Gordy ever wrote, 5 times as many as Ashford and Simpson, 8 times as many as the Beatles and on and on. Since nobody even bothered to evaluate this ABC Lost Sessions record, I would only say that this collection gives testimony that a real genius is within our midst. Ten Stars.

Jackie and Roy have been at the forefront of creative jazz singing for at least 40 years. But just try to find their recordings in the shops! Don't miss these exciting singers (he's a pianist as well), in their shorter cabaret sets, or, in this CD, smashing big-band arrangements by some of the biggest names in 50's jazz. Absolutely cutting edge material that hasn't dated at all.

Just Because Frankie Sings It, That's Why.......2004-11-24

There are MANY Frankie Laine hits that you will NOT find on this CD but anything he wrapped his tonsils around was and is good listening. Herein you will find the DEFINITIVE VERSION of "You Gave Me A Mountain" written and also recorded by the talented Marty Robbins (as well as Elvis Presley). That alone is worth the price unless you can find it on a single somewhere. Such emotion! You can find hits by Frankie Laine going back to the 1940s that don't sound dated; I encourage you to buy them but don't fail to include this compilation in your collection or you'll be missing out!

I could not believe I found this cd. The quality of the recordings and his voice are excellent. This CD incorporates his music of 50's &60's and has many old time favorites of the over 40 generation.

Excellent '60's Laine retrospective........1998-06-20

Almost everything's here from Frankie Laine's mid-60's ABC/Paramount recordings. You'll find yourself singing along with song after song. If I had one wish though it would have been the inclusion of "Every Street's A Boulevard (In Old New York)" a true Laine classic recording nearly impossible to locate. It would be difficult to find a better representation of American pop vocalist during the British music invasion than this Frankie Laine collection.
