I love this album and it is really sad that people are sleeping on it (lol it is six times platinum). This is a complete album that you can listen to from beginning to end. Mariah really did a great job of showing how talented she really is. It is a mixture of everything, this cd is up beat yet laid back, and it's a classic. This is her best album in my opinion and I can't wait for the next one.

I'm gonna start off by also saying that we all shouldn't deny that Mariah's voice isn't what it was back when her first couple of albums were released. It's not bad, but it has waned a bit.

The only songs I skip sometimes aren't even bad. It's just sometimes Mariah gets the yelling (Circles, Stay The Night) and I have to skip 'em.

If you don't have ANY of Mariah's albums though (who wouldn't have at least one?) I would start with either Emotions or Daydream. But if you like your R&B music, then get this one. If you do get this one, make sure it's the Platinum Edition because the extra songs are worth it. The only reason I could see someone getting the original Emancipation is for the beautiful cover which is superior to this one. But don't both look great?!

Some highlights are Shake It Off, One And Only, Your Girl, Fly Like A Bird, Don't Forget About Us and Makin' It Last All Night (What It Do).

This CD has it's highlights but it isn't her best.

Get this if your a Mariah Carey fan... To be honest I'm not a Mariah Carey fan... I mainly bought this because Snoop Dogg is on it.

Mariah stepped her game up from her last 2 albums and the buzz was definitely worth it. The first half of the album is good and the end was good, but the middle is a bunch of fillers. "Fly Like A Bird" is definitely the best track you kinda get a feel of the old Mariah back it the 90's. Great job and can't wait for the next album.

Back when I was a young teen, Fats was the reigning King. I have all his songs and have seen him in person many times. His piano playing and his laid back, simple approach to his music are dear to me. I still sing his songs because they are deep seated in my psyche from years of listening. Things were simple then and things in my life were good. Still are, and I still bring out his music to make me happy and take me back to a wonderful time! Thanks Fats!

      Toni Michelle Braxton is an all-American success story. The eldest of six children born to a Maryland clergyman, she started out singing in choir of her father's church. But, her wonderful smoky, smooth and deep contralto voice could not stay hidden for long. The rest, as they say, is history.

      This wonderful album contains twelve of Toni Braxton's greatest hits, including Another Sad Love Song, Breathe Again, How Could An Angel Break My Heart...Heck, just read contents! Yeah, this is a great album, with a lot of really great tunes on it. If you like great music, then you will love this album. I highly recommend it!

      This is a good value purchase of Toni Braxton's songs. This is for anyone who might not get through 75 minutes of Ultimate Toni Braxton from 2003, but might go through 45-50 minutes of this one. This album is different for that includes a few remixes, sometimes dance-related, of the hits, instead of the same 12 sad love song ballads that she's well known for. Instead, the handlers make it more fun and upbeat in most cases instead of downbeat and sad. But familiar hits like Another Sad Love Song, He Wasn't Man Enough, Breathe Again, Unbreak My Heart and others are found here. Braxton still is out there with her latest effort Libra, but this collection recalls what made her a star in the first place.

      This Platinum And Gold Collection is a must own for Toni Braxton fans. She is one of my favorite female musicians but I have one problem with her, She can really sound MANNISH at times. This cd has 12 of her greatest hits and is a really good collection

      I guess I am one of the rare few who likes budget compilations. Both the 20th Century Millennium and Platinum and Gold Collections are enjoyable because they are concise and feature excellent remastering.

      This 12 track collection features some of Toni Braxton's biggest hits ("Breathe Again", "Unbreak My Heart") and misses ("Hit the Freeway", "Spanish Guitar"). Overall the selection is solid, although the addition of "You're Making Me High" would have made this a perfect collection, but Braxton is one of R&B's finest singers and this collection is further proof that her voice is missed on radio.

      It's worth mentioning that "How Could An Angel Break My Heart", "Maybe" and "Spanish Guitar" are featured here in remix format, making this a good listen for both Braxton diehard and casual fans.

        Any true fans of Chaka Khan will avoid this silly rehashing of all the material she has done since 1978! This dosent even belong in her section at all! We all love the music believe me, but Warners and Rhino wanna be cheap. Generic. COST EFFECTIVE.....Even at the cost of one of the most legendary female vocalists of our time! Frankly, Ill say what a lot of us think: Why keep wasting money on these rehashes when you could make money on a nice 4-6 disc boxset with all of her rarities and maybe a nice dvd with some videos and deleted ones? at least release Dare You To Love Me and Chaka Khan (1982)! Chaka Khan dosent deserve this neglect! POWER 2 THE PEOPLE, KEEP PRESSING ON MUSIC LOVERS!!!!!

        ...this is a good starting point for someone who wants to get a glimpse of what Chaka has done. Look, the cd packaging clearly states that the remixed songs are remixes. And perhaps someone might want to hear the og versions and buy I Feel for You which is a good thing. Personally, I loved the remix of Eye to Eye. It is the quintessential slow-house groove. Not all of the songs on the remix projects were gold but they were interpretations of fans and (then) current producers. And I am happy to write that I bought Chaka's self-titled Japan import CD in the early 90's. Anyway, if someone wants a glimpse of Chaka's work, this cd is a good place to begin.

        ...Or Chakaholics as some call them Warner Bros. have done the same disservice to Chaka's music that has been done to Motown artists and the Isley Brothers;reissue their music in endless compilation packages that completely gloss over their career and make them seem more popular then they were.And 'The Platinum Collection' does the same to Chaka-her best compilation is Epiphany: The Best of Chaka Khan, Vol. 1 which she hand picked the tracks for herself.Otherwise if you seriously love listening to Chaka Khan (as I do) stick with the original albums.AND GET THAT 1982 SELF TITLED ALBUM BACK OUT!!!It won a friggin' GRAMMY;put it out on a 20'th Century Masters with another bonus disk,just like Diana (Deluxe Edition) and Bad Girls recieved!And what bothers me more is that I see that only her first two solo albums,plus I Feel for You' and The Woman I Am are still in print domestically in the US-that leaves an enormous chunk of her recorded output either as pricey import CD's and OOP nuggets.The same fate has met Rufus with classics like Street Player,Masterjam plus their 1973 debut in OOP land.Now that Motown is rectifying their policies along with the Isleys to focus on full lengh album reissues as opposed to compilations I think Chaka's people should get on the ball as well;she really deserves better then this.

        'Chaka Khan - The Platinum Collection' ? Wow, just what serious 'Chakaholics' need...another collection of songs we've owned for years, and it's amazing that Rhino/Warner Brothers refuses open the vaults & release the music fans are interested in buying (the rare 'Chaka Khan' CD for example!). 'Chaka Khan' (1982) is one of Chaka's critically acclaimed (& Grammy Award Winning!) CDs, but Rhino insists on rehashing hits in a variety of packages, like this Platinum Collection for example. Shoot, Rhino / Warner Brothers is so screwed up that they even used a 25 year old picture of Chaka for the cover art, and you have to really wonder what they're smoking at the Warner Brothers Headquarters!

        No wonder Chaka ran away from this fu**** up company in the first place! Serious 'Chakaholics' will walk past this mess of a CD, and wait patiently for La Khan's UPCOMING Burgundy Records (Sony/BMG) debut, featuring production by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and others! Sorry, but this so-called 'Platinum Collection' is a waste of retail space, and I can't rate it higher than 1 star. Fans have made better compilations at home!

        versions on the 'Remix Project' CD from the mid 80's, so

        I used to work for Arista Records when Clive Davis found Angela
        Bofill.Ilove the songs on this Gold, Platinum recordins of allersongs that she recorded in the late 70s. She is an awesome artist with vocals and lyrics which I never tire of and I wish she was still recording her music!

        I still recommend collecting all Angela's albums on vinyl LP format to get the absolute best sound and photography/artwork, but this "best-of" CD is great nonetheless.

        Smooth sail your way through "This Time I'll Be Sweeter," "I Try," "Tonight I Give In," "Break It To Me Gently," and "I Just Wanna Stop," among others.

        I have a lot of her stuff from Angie to her Greatest Hits CD right there. Isn't she amazing? I'm such a huge fan to her music. Can't wait to hear more from her in the future. Hope she'll put out an album pretty soon. This is a Must if u love good music or else just devoted to jazz and R&B.

        I remember the year was 1979. A dear friend of my sister's let her borrow the Angel of The Night album. Angela Bofill single like a bird's smooth flight caught up in a starry night, and she captures her listeners with a unique blend of smooth jazz. This CD is great but it does not even touch the incredible voice this powerful woman has. She's up there in a categoy with Patti Labelle, Patti Austin, and the magnificent Chaka Khan. The sad reality is that most of the current generations do not fully appreciate the wonders of these great artists. In summary: This CD is another MUST HAVE, GOTTA GET RIGHT NOW compilation for you collection. Trust me on this one too!

        BMG Heritage must be commended for releasing this Angela Bofill compilation. It features great sound quality on all 12 songs, in-depth liner notes by David Nathan and some beautiful pictures from Angela's Arista years. A wonderful package.

        If you don't like pop, DO NOT buy this CD. After their first CD went out, as they were working on their second CD, it got less dance-y and more pop-y. But, I think the songs are great. You should really listen to the samples before making your decision, because they have really changed.

        Sorry, but this CD just kind of showcases a band that took itself too seriously and tried to "change sounds" and members, thinking no one would notice that latter of those, but failing miserabley in both.
        This CD isn't horrible, but it's definitely a mediocre, silly, annoying, throwaway. the only truly good song on it is "Kiss Kiss Kiss (When The Sun Don't Shine)", which after a while, becomes rather inane...
        Their first album is a classic for its showcasing of the wicked-coolness of hardcore, impersonal dance-grooves...but they tried to become pop-stars here, so forget it...
        Who ever was really interested in "them" anyway?:>
