Same time as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road..........2007-06-02
If you listened to no other Funkadelic album before this, you'd be astonished at the wide stylistic range this band covers. They cover the blues, classic R & B, the psychedelic rock era, Motown, and the social-political upheaval of American culture that started in the 1960's. They cover just about every controversial issue in the culture, and soak it all in some invigorating music. It's a dense record throughout, and worthy of taking in a little at a time, or blasting loudly all the way through. Wonderful playing, serious and humorous lyrics all blended together--you get your money's worth with this batch of tunes.

America Ate Its Young and Funkadelic Told On You!!!.......2006-09-15
A more serious album from Funkadelic yes. But, a very good one at the same time. With the Funkadelic side of the P, don't expect a continuation of the saga of "Free Your Mind" or "Maggot Brain". The guys just tripped and tripped and came up with some really classic, Yes Sly Stone influence rhythms here. It has juat a touch of Sly with a tad bit of James Brown and a dash of The Parliaments but it's all a Funkadelic thang! The rhythms are not as rigid and as hardcore and the "newbies" came along. You were not going to the acid rock of Billy Bass, Eddie HAzel and Tiki Fulwood along with Tawl Ross here. You still got Bernie though! If the original Funkadelice were on board, I do believe this album would have been even greater-- Excellent piano work throughout and an intro to Boosty on this album is a plus for Bootsy fans. This album shows that there is more to the Mob than just foul language, references to drugs and spaceships. It is a groovy album to have...
A Call To Repentance.......2004-11-10
This album has a political overtone. It speaks about the evil's of the "system" and how me must fix what the latter generation has messed up. I love every song on this album. It has Melodica's, Harmonicas, Juice harps,Strings, and of course acid psychedelic guitars as well. This albums offers a variety of musicans. The liner notes are deep also. Of course Mr Clinton's sense of comic and comical humor is heard on "Loose Booty". "Pussy" is a excellent song. This song is so funky, a skunk would wink his eye at it. "A Joyful Process" shows keyboard Bernie Worrell at one of his best arrangements. This album is a must have.
Raw, Dirty and extremely Funky!.......2003-09-29
Those who are familiar with only "classic" P-Funk, like Funkadelic's "One Nation Under a Groove" and Parliament's "Mothership Connection" are in for a surprise.
There are hammonds, harmonicas, string arrangements, all with a dirty late 60's sound. It's hard to figure that this album was recorded the same year as Ohio Players' "Pleasure" (1972) considering the studio sound.
The multiple-styled 7-minute "You Hit The Nail..." is a perfect introduction to what is to follow. There are highlights like the well arranged instrumental "A Joyful Process," the groove-party "Loose Booty," the jamming "Wake Up," horn driven "Philmore" and "That Was My Girl" featuring a typical George Clinton leading vocal. Constant changes in instrumentation are being made, thus it never gets boring - there are a lot of surprises.
One turn-off is the mix of the lead vocal on "I Call My Baby Pussycat" - it's too low, possibly remixed on purpose because of the words being "too naughty" or something (this title has been renamed - its original title did not include the words "I call my baby" or "cat"...)
The horns seem to be arranged and mixed to fill out spaces which they do perfectly; they're never in your face, but never too distant.
The whole album has a very specific feeling and sound, like no other, and is one to treasure as nothing is ever going to sound like this again. Too many people play on this recording for me to be specific about personnel, but Clinton, Worrell, Hazel, Shider, T.Lampkin, T.Fulwood, C.Mosson, Phelps & Bootsy Collins are included. Don't miss out on this!
Saddle Up.......2003-02-25
hit the nail on the head and biological...are as good as i can feel. wait that one is not on here. this album is absolute money despite loose booty not being up to par with the osmium cut. hard R&B that should be resampled, if the DJ's got any class.
good man very funky.......2002-10-26
okay eddie hazel, tiki, tawl ross and billy bass have all exited so the music was done by numerous musicians mainly bootsy collins, gary shider, and cream's drummer ginger baker and this was the first time george clinton tried to make songs that made sense some of the songs are failures but theres still some madness on here. loose booty has gc telling dirty nursery rhymes about little miss muffet ... , miss lucifer's love has fuzzy haskins going off on vocals. everybody's gonna make it this time has p funk beingt serious about the conditions of black america.
philmore is a funky bomb starring bootsy on vocals and on balance bootsy goes off once again this sounds like something sly stone would have done.
