it burns so good.......2001-09-04

This record is a clean burn. It's the Philly sound with a bit more black gospel influence than you hear on most of the records their contemporaries released. Theodore Pendergrass (now Teddy) growls and croons with magnificent ease and great feeling. This record just knocks your socks off. "Wake Up Everybody" is so uplifting... and the absolute original version of "Don't Leave Me This Way" just cooks and slides and rumbles. What a great record. This is a true classic in its genre. I'm the Big Oh and I gotta go listen to this great record right now.

Harold Melvin&The Blue Notes together with the Philly Sound Created a Great Album here.The Music&Lyrics were very strong.but aside from Harold Melvin Singing Teddy Pendergrass Is very Soulful Here.Wake Up Everybody is one of The Greatest Message Songs ever.

Wake Up Everybody and buy this CD!.......2000-04-22

This recording of the late great 70's soul group show the highlights of some of their best songs. These recorings sound as great if not better than the day they went into the recording studio. They served up some of the best songs of the 1970's. Wake Up Everybody is hands-down their best songs they ever sang. This CD shows their days with Teddy Pendergrass and their post-Teddy Bear days. If you loved the Mighty Three Prod., then you'll love The Blue Notes, one of their best groups.

Very cool!!.......2004-11-02

I really like this whole cd. However, I truly enjoyed the first track. It has a very cool collaboration of different hip hop and R&B artists on it. There are so many people on it like Reverend Run, Mary J. Blige, Wyclef Jean, Missy Elliot, Eve, Jadakiss, Brandy, Fabulous, Ashanti, Nate Dogg....the list goes on. Their cover of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes is excellent. I think the more modern hip hop spin really added to the depth of the original. I've always been a fan of the above artists, but this track in particular just sounds amazing. Not to mention the song has a positive message!

When there's a big line up of big name artists and a song title like "Wake Up Everybody" you just know someone's tryin to say somethin....something important that they're all passionate about. Russell Simmons and Babyface made it happen....and with a bumpin beat backing up their message. With the lead song being a hip hop based song I thought the whole CD was going to stick to this genre of music....but it runs with a variety of musical genres...which keeps it interesting and fresh....makes it all the better. It includes every musical taste with artists we can all respect no matter what type of music we listen to. Not only is the music good with big name performances, it's saying something! I recommend this cd to all those like me who love music with substance and just love music period

Inspiring and amazing.......2004-10-15

When Russell Simmons and Babyface coming together for a project - that means something tight is going down. And it was! `Wake Up Everybody' has an ill beat and all these big artists are all over the track. I'm a true hip-hop fan at heart but the other music represented on this album was just right. Seal and Lenny Kravitz? Amazing performances When I went to grab the CD at the store, I was surprised that it came with a DVD with a bunch of extra features. They talk about making a difference and the work they put into this thing really shows their passion for humanity and making things right again.

Just a Blast!.......2006-07-05

Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes with Teddy Pendergrass and Sharon Paige give us an album that you can listen to, dance fast or slow to, and sing along with. This is a classic album magnificently executed vocally and technically. Teddy is at his best, and his duet with Ms. Paige is still one of my all time favorites. These people are real singers, artists! and the Bluenotes in the background are pitch perfect. It's the music I grew up listening and dancing to and it still resonates in such a positive, upbeat way. When I play this disk, my guests all sing along or dance, or both!
