2 for 1...you can not beat that!.......2007-05-30
This CD is remarkable!! I am a gigantic Chante Fan. I have been a fan since the "Precious" album when she performed "As if We Never Met" live on video soul with Donny Simpson. (took you way back then huh?) Her voice is indescribable. I have been searching for words to describe her voice for years and I am still unable to. Please check out "Just a Dream" on the uncovered CD (song 9) and you will get a glimpse of what I am talking about. She also performs magic on several other songs as well. There is a song...excuse me there will be SONGS on these CD's for everyone.
I have to give credit to Kenny as well. I have to admit, I was not a fan until they did their first album together. I actually got married off of "When I say I do" from that album and he brings a lot the CD as well. This is a must listen to CD, especially when you are with that special someone.
Amazing.......2007-05-29
Both albums are wonderful from the beginning to the end. I DEFINITELY recommend this album.
Awesome.......2007-05-15
I have been looking for this CD for over a year and yes it was worth the wait. I like the 2-CD deal addressing two very different topics, perfect fit for the CD title.
A breath of fresh air.......2007-05-08
First of all, I thoroughly enjoy the concept of a husband and wife being able to record together and make music for lovers and married couples. At the same time Kenny Lattimore and Chanté Moore appeal to our spiritual sides on this double album of love and relationships. The first disc which is brilliantly produced, with standout covers like "Love Ballad" and "No Ordinary Love", focuses on our human relationships. You can just press play on this album and leave it. I never skip songs, which most real music lovers can attest is a great feat given today's musical landscape. The second disc focuses on our relationship with the divine. Again, play it all the way through. If you love Kenny Lattimore and Chanté Moore or just plain love real music, then you need to get this album right now. What are you waiting for!?
Uplifting.......2007-04-16
Initially I did not feel this, but I must admit it grew on me and I found the lyrics and the music to be very uplifting. If you're looking for a different spin to gospel music and clean love songs this is the one. Stay blessed.

With the release of this gorgeously produced album of duets from R&B singers and real-life couple Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore, pure romance receives its ultimate soundtrack. Two things make the collection distinct: the pair's innovative choice of songs, and the album's sequence, which follows a narrative arc of flirting, dating, sex, love, marriage, honeymoon, and the aftermath. Beautiful but almost forgotten love songs get new life, notably "With You I'm Born Again"--famously recorded by Billy Preston and Syreeta--and Lionel Richie's "Still," Keith Sweat's "Make It Last Forever," country singer-songwriter Clint Black's "When I Said I Do," and Ashford & Simpson's "You're All I Need to Get By" and "Is It Still Good to You." Lattimore and Moore's married status makes this material resonate. The intimacy underscoring the spare, elegant "Still" is palpable, and when the pair question their devotion in "Is It Still Good to You," there's no doubt they've been down that road for real. Lattimore and Moore can also sing; indeed, the two could make the Yellow Pages sound sensual. And if there's any doubt about the album's effectiveness as an aphrodisiac, consider the warning label on the back: "This project may cause pregnancy," it screams before coyly adding, "Well, we got pregnant just making this album, so proceed with caution!" Point taken. --Kim Hughes

Sounds just ok.......2007-03-26
This project could have been produced so much better. Both singers have beautiful voices... just not together. This project could have been done better with Keith Washington and Chante Moore. Just because these two are a couple and are in love does not mean their emotions will come through the music. I love the songs. I dont love the production of the album.
Enjoyable.......2007-02-17
I got this after I purchased the Uncovered/Covered CD. In my opinion, this is not as good as that project (I liked EVERY ONE of those songs), but it's still very nice. My favorite songs are You Don't Have To Cry, Love Saw It, Close The Door, and Here We Go. My least favorite song on this disc is Still. It doesn't work as a duet and it sounds like an afterthought.
music lover.......2006-08-01
I love this cd. My favorite tracks are 1. and track 5. "loveable". Every time I play this cd I always repeat the song "loveable". Please purchase this cd, its definately one to add to your R&B collection. You will not be disappointed
Really Nice Album Don't Understand Why it Didn't Do That Well in the Stores.......2006-07-10
This album is very well put together and anything who likes adult R & B music will love this album. Even through the majority of this album is a cover album the songs are very well picked and the remakes are just remarkable. My personal favorites are "Is it still good to you" and "You're all I Need to Get By". Overall, this record did not do well in the stores in fact I never even heard of it. I just happen to come across it by fate on day at Samgoody while I was looking for a Patti LaBelle record. But ever since I brought it I have never put it down and I even had to start hiding it when company came over.
I still listen to this often @}->---.......2006-01-14
I think I must have bought this a day or two after it's release, and yet I still keep listening to it. That's because it is so good and one of my all time favourite cds, by two of my favourite singers. They each have great voices, and their blends work magically here. All songs are remakes but there isn't a bad one in the bunch. I love it. The stand outs to me are Make It Last Forever (one of the best songs in the Universe), Love Saw It and a spectacular version of Lionel Richie's Still. In Still, their voices and the music give me chills. This is a great cd, that everyone should own because it's classic and romantic and beautiful.

Eleven years later , its still good.......2007-05-20
What makes it good first of all is, new topics like Never Too Busy and good song writing with, For You. One of the better R&B cd's of the 90T'S
Kenny's Got What It Takes.......2006-11-07
It is 2006 and I am STILL bumping this CD. There is not a bad song on this CD and For You is still the epitome of love songs. Joy, Climb The Mountain, Never Too Busy, Forgiveness...the whole CD is like that!
One of the best albums from a year which produced A LOT of crap albums.......2006-10-23
One of the smoothest and most sensual male love balladiers in contemporary R&B today, Kenny Lattimore's silky-smooth voice and warm sentiment make him one of Gen-X's favorite artists for those deeply in love with each other. Standout tracks include the wedding favorite "For You", "Joy", and the inexplicably non-hit "Climb The Mountain." Lattimore (born 4-10-70) is married to contemporary soul queen Chante Moore.
Slicker than your average R&B album.......2005-10-10
Kenny's got it all - the good looks, the charm, the musical talent to write & produce and the smooth vocals. Put all of these attributes together and you end up with one fine collection of R&B tracks to make one solid album. I still listen to this album from start to finish so many years after its release and I don't get bored of it. My favourite tracks are Never Too Busy and Just What It Takes. I'm sure many babies have been made to the music on this album. This is a great CD to listen to when you're having a romantic evening indoors or when you want to listen to slow jams during a romantic drive with your mate. Enjoy.
Even in 2004, this album is still wonderful!!!!.......2004-08-27
I just bought this album not too long ago and man, why did I sleep on it for so long. This is one of those few albums where you can listen to it all the way through toooo many times and not get tired of it. All the songs are just that good! And, you will never get tired of Kenny's smooth voice. But, what makes this album truly great is the fact that although the album was released about 8 years ago, it's still contemporary and very refreshing when compared to a lot of today's music. To anybody reading this review and are curious about buying this album, it's a worthy cop. Buy it!!!!

From way deep from his soul.......2007-05-17
He delivers this great piece of work. Every song, I mean, EVERY song is "well done." He can sing, write and even produce. Kudos on all three. It takes REAL talent to do that. In this album he delivers very soulful and beautiful songs like Days like This, Trial Separation, Just Can't Get Over you, JUST to name a few! It is a different sound than any other artist out there, which makes this album and singer unique. If you feel up for something new, try this album or even Kenny's first album. You won't be disappointed.
Wonderful album.......2006-12-22
This album is extraordinary and I just loved every song. I ask myself why did I sleep on this album. This album is so enjoyable and is one of those rare albums that you can just play without ever having to press skip. And, whether you're trying to set the mood, winding down from a long day at work or whatever, this is a good cd to have in the deck. Like I said before, this album is wonderful. Oh yeah, "Make Believe", that is my joint. It's just so cool and the vocals are so soothing. And "Well Done" just moved me. The song is just dynamic! Well, hats off to Kenny for this album.
Another great one from Mr. Smooth.......2006-10-23
Slightly weaker than his self titled debut, but still a rich landscape of the signature sensuality that is Kenny Lattimore. Whole album is generally good; "Make Believe" and "Tomorrow" particularly so.
Timeless.......2006-07-12
Timeless masterpieces. I bought this CD back in 1998. I am constantly looking for new music, and recalled this album. I am going to purchase this CD again to replace my misplaced CD. It is so refreshing to hear talent that can be thoughtful, representing an intellectual demographic. Buy this album, turn the lights down, light some candles, and maybe indulge in a glass of wine. You will thank me, or should I say - you will thank Kenny Lattimore.
A must have album.......2005-11-30
Let me just say that if you have not got this album, please purchase a copy of it. I recently got another copy because the first one was damaged and I was not best pleased. Favs on the album include All my tomorrows and If You could see You...these songs are deep and emotional.
I agree that Kenny Lattimore is underrated and I am also very disappointed that this album has been discontinued over here in the UK. I had to order my second copy from the US, unbelievable!
Anytime you want to listen to a tasteful, emotional, well put together CD then this is the CD I would recommend 100%.

Kenny Lattimore hit the R&B scene in 1996 with a self-titled debut that showcased his considerable vocal talent and songwriting skills. On his second album, From the Soul of Man (1998), Lattimore experimented with acoustic guitar and gospel influences, revealing a complex musician behind the matinee-idol looks. Weekend might have extended this experimental trend, but, unfortunately, it's more conventional than its predecessor, playing it safe with Babyface-style ballads and "Girl, I can treat you better than him" lyrics.
It's not revolutionary, but Lattimore does this music better than anyone else. The album's bouncy first single, "Weekend," has a decidedly retro-'80s feel owing to a sample from Blondie's "Rapture" buried in the bass line. Lattimore collaborates with Raphael Saadiq on the smooth, sexy "Come to Me," but the wannabe urban lyrics of "Can You Feel Me," a duet with Shanice Wilson, sink an otherwise solid effort. Weekend lives up to its name--relaxing, romantic, sweet, and over far too soon. --Courtney Kemp
Customer Reviews:
Smooth, Kennny..........2005-11-06
Yes, even though this offering by Kenny has mostly uptempo songs, this album is as smooth as they come. And I would say that this album is a rarity in that regard. But, this album is really nice to listen to from start to finish. Yeah, I slept on this album and got it a few days ago, but now that I have it, I'm enjoying it to the fullest. Holla!!!!
r&b for the romantics.......2004-08-21
I am a huge R&B fan and for a while I've been searching for something that is not like the so-called pop R&B stars such as Usher. This album is great, it's very smooth, sensual, and everything R&B is and should be. All the lyrics are great too. Track 1 is great for dancing to, it's the first song i heard from this CD on the radio. Track 2 is alright, not as strong, but still good. Track 3 has a different more exotic type of sound to it. All the recordings had different types of sounds to them which is one of the things that made this CD one of the best. The tracks between 3 and 7 are good for chillin' to but when track 7 just did it for me. I must have played it over and over again till I wore it out. The rest of the CD is great too. I really recommend it.
(2-1/2 stars) Kenny, Kenny, Kenny..........2003-02-27
Kenny Lattimore has been great because of his smooth ballads. But on Weekend, it seems like he took a page from the Solo handbook and brought a whole bunch of bland R&B songs in place of the classic soul songs he's known for.
This especially shows on the title track. I don't remember Kenny making any uptempo songs quite like this in the past-although you have to admit the song IS catchy. And the lyrics aren't terrible either-except for the lame bridge. In fact, most of the songs on here are okay EXCEPT for the bridge (the title track) or the chorus ("Don't Deserve").
And how about songs where the chorus AND bridge are bad? "Baby You're the One" should have never made it out of the studio. And "If Love Is What You Want" has a cheesy chorus (and a cheesy beat, too, now that I think about it), while the bridge finds Kenny saying things like "Tell me any little thing that you need/And I'll be, I'll be." You'll be what? Maybe you should finish your thoughts, Ken.
Sometimes even the ballads aren't very promising on this album. "Can You Feel Me" with Shanice doesn't give anyone a reason to cheer; also, who does a duet with Shanice in this day and age? Not even the Andre Harris/Vidal Davis contribution "Lately" stands out (in comparison to their other work, anyway).
Do you know what the end of this album is like? Well, since it was 2001, I don't know...how about throwing on a gospel song to try to make listeners forget how sloppy the rest of the album was? (See also Missy Elliott's Miss E...So Addictive and Destiny's Child's Survivor.) This album would have been better if it were Kenny's first album, because his self-titled debut is much better than this, and his second album From the Soul of Man is even better than that. Take my advice: skip this album and get his first two instead.
Disappointing and not as good as his last 2 records.......2002-01-24
This record is a letdown, and Lattimore must know it. He switched labels in 2001, and during that process, some of his charm and vision got lost. "Weekend" is loaded with slick, bland tracks that pale in comparison to his earlier hits like "Never Too Busy," "For You," and "Days Like This." Lattimore clearly deserves a smash, but not at the expense of his talent. Even the closing gospel track sounds a bit forced. Don't get me wrong; "Weekend" is not a bad record, but a plain and ordinary one. Run-of-the-mill r&b with only a handful of surpirses.
Different but Excellent.......2002-01-01
First let me say that I am a die hard KL fan. However, I must admit at first I was not feeling "Weekend". I grew so accostomed to KL's old style I was not open minded to change. Then I listened to "Weekend" with an objective ear and it blew my mind. True these tracks are more up-tempo but KL will be KL no matter what. His vocals still ring true on each track. This cd is great buy the tracks are banging from 1-11. My only complaint is the length of the cd. Two more songs should have been added. All in all this is a must have for your cd collection.

An Awesome " Sing along out loud" album.......2007-05-27
I LOVE every song on Covered and Uncovered. That's hard to find in most artist, but this combination brings about such a varity. "Tonight" makes you feel like really two-stepping in sync with someone,, even if you don't really love them!! And "Figure It Out" is the new married woman's anthem for time to herself.... COVERED gives me the time during my morning worship to really praise the LORD and say that I am thankful for everything. I sing OUT LOUD in my car on my commute, and I know other people think I am Crazy!!!!! These are two tremendous voices, together in Love with each other and above all, GOD. I can't wait to see what's next.. Maybe a Christmas album??????????? But you will NOT be disappointed with this one!!!!
Anointed.......2007-01-19
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! Figure It Out on the first disc and I Give You My Praise on the second disc are my favorites. As a married women I can relate to Figure It Out, it is okay to want "ME" time when things are going great in your marriage. Kenny & Chante voice still sound awesome and smooth. BUY THIS ONE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
pleasant suprise!!!.......2007-01-19
i've been up under their noses the whole time they recorded this project and i am still surprised with how well it turned out. taking a such a controversial step and doing a double disc, the other half being gospel, you have to come with it... and they did. of course working with fred hammond is pretty much a guaranteed "W". don't sleep on this. my favorite song is "here on earth". lol!

This young man will go far, because he has something fresh and exciting going on with his voice. And I know the ladies will love this brother.
