The Wu-Tang warrior's second solo joint is so conceptually huge, only somebody who's been high every day for a decade could have imagined it: hip-hop album as science-fiction double-feature as celebrity parade as horror movie as multilayered masquerade as an endlessly Baroque flow of spiels and skits, hallucinatory fantasy, and killer-bee menace. The romantic strains of Tical have been replaced by pure, sweaty sex, and Meth's image transformation from laidback muscle to bloodthirsty cyborg (with a phone book's worth of guest stars) just means he compacts his flow more tightly. The production is the Wu standard of berserk little loops and spare boom-bap, though RZA's tracks are head and shoulders above those of his disciples. --Douglas Wolk

I Like This World!!!.......2007-07-25
I remeber when I first heard this album I didnt give it a second listen. But now after hearing it again, its Method Man's best album next to Tical. Perfect World Is not a bad opener and Cradle Rock featuring Left Eye(RIP) is crazy. Dangerous Grounds should have been the first single seeing that it was better than Judgement Day. Method Man shuts it down disrespectfully on Torture and He kills an old school sample on Retro Godfather. Play IV Keeps featuring Mobb Deep, Inspectah Deck and Streetlife is a banger that was never promoted at all(and this song came out at a time when Prodigy was STILL NICE with the mic). Spazzola featuring Streetlife, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and Killer Sin is another banger. The title track Judgement Day is not a bad single but it is a bad first single. This is a track that if you dont feel it the first time you might like it another time not a track that is going to make you get the album. Break Ups 2 Make Ups featuring D'Angelo is Method Man's story of his grimy ex-girl and its another standout. The only songs I didnt feel is Suspect Chin Music(suspect is the word) and Sweet Love feat Cappadonna and Streetlife. Plus all those skits(with the exception of the You Play Too Much skit) are pointless to say the least. Bottom Line: Tical 2000: Judgement Day is easily Method Man's most overlooked album and is his best work next to his first one. The production was great, Method Man was still nice with the pen and the guest appearances were great too. Whether you like this album or not doesnt matter but its still a hip hop album regardless, Tical O: The Prequel was pop rap so learn to differentiate the two. Standout Tracks: CRADLE ROCK, DANGEROUS GROUNDS, TORTURE, RETRO GODFATHER, SPAZZOLA, PARTY CRASHER, STEP BY STEP, PLAY IV KEEPS(my favorite), ELEMENTS, KILLIN FIELDS, BIG DOGS, BREAK UPS 2 MAKE UPS and JUDGEMENT DAY.
best album by mef.......2006-09-01
there is just no bad songs on this album every song tends to flow with the album , must by cd.
bestsongs:
torture
cradle rock
perfect world
spazzola
sweet love
A Mini Masterpiece.......2006-08-30
This album is one of my Top 10 All-Time favorite hip hop albums. Sweet Love and Perfect World are the 2 best tracks on this release.
Method Man.......2006-03-30
I like this album a lot it has a lot of great songs but there are too many skits. It kind of reminds me of mixtapes with so many tracks you can only get so far and then you get kind of bored with some of the tracks. But Method smokes so much weed he probably was too high to care. But that does not matter because they are great songs on here and I will let you decide what those are. I recommend this to all rap fans great choice to add to your collection.
A good sophmore effort.......2006-01-25
The problem with so many tracks is that you can lose memntum and or originality and then adding so many guest stars (Left Eye, Mobb Deep, Streetlife, Capponada, Chris Rock, Ed Lover, Raekwon, Redman...just to name a very few) you can risk losing limelight. The greatest thing about this CD is that, while there is some filler, Meth never loses his footing on the floor. He is the star of this album and every guest just compliments Meth's ability to comand the album. In fact, my favorite song "step by step" doesn't even have a guest rapper. So if your a fan of the Wu-Man they call Method Man AKA Jonny Blaze AKA The Iron Lung AKA...no I'm just kiddin'...anyway, if your a fan of the man they call Meth then pick this up because whatever Meth puts his name on you know is gonna be hot!

Generally good, but recommended with reservations.......2006-06-08
Korngold's music is spectacular, and I would recommend it do anyone. I also agree with other reviews I have read for this disc that the music for Between Two Worlds is generally well performed. The DSO-Berlin (former RIAS Orchestra) is a top-notch orchestra, but the second movement of the Symphonic Serenade is utterly amateurish. I kid you not, it sounds at times like a student orchestra. The third and fourth movements are generally solid, but overall there are many patchy parts in the playing--weak coordination, intonation problems, and so forth. But given the paucity of quality recordings of these pieces, this disc is still well worth getting.
Simply Superb And THE Reference Recording For BTW!.......2002-01-28
This CD contains about 30 minutes of cues from Erich Wolfgang
Korngold's BETWEEN TWO WORLDS film symphony, and is the primary
focus of this review. I know of no other modern recording that
can compare with the selections presented here. And there may be
more cues yet to be released, since the CD booklet notes that the
"(s)oundtrack (was) edited by John Mauceri" who is, of course,
the conductor of this brilliant recording. The CD also contains
two of Korngold's classical compositions which are excellent,
and, for Korngold film-music fans, definitely a major "bonus."
Don't hesitate with this one; add it to your collection
immediately!

Great for all.......1999-11-09
I don't listen to much rap, because not all of it is that great, but Tical 2000 is the best I have heard in a long time. Method Man doesn't over do it and doesn't under do it. He mixes it up for people of all ages. Method Man really got it going, especially with Perfect World.
Man Meth what the Dilly?.......1999-06-09
This Album was a big disappointment. There are about two slammin hits that will get my crowd jumpin' but the others just need a little help. I'm pretty sure Method got something up his sleeve for the future, for one hook-up with Redman. You'll get paid.
I think it is off the hook!.......1999-02-11
I love the two songs judgement day and make ups to breaks ups with d'angelo. I think his whole cd is off the hook! It is the bomb! I love you methodman and all your cds. I think you are one of the most artist rappers there is!
a dissapointment compared to his last one ........1999-02-06
what is this? Meth was so raw and hard-core on his first album and then this.i was really disapointed when i heard this. This was the one rapper i expeected to keep it real. and what the hell is with the cyborg gear?
Method Man is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......1998-12-20
This album was a lot better than his first two; "Judgement Day"{the first single} is the crowning jewel of this one. "Cradle Rock"{which features the one mc of the soul group TLC, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes} is a strong performance. The skits are mad funny; "You Play Too Much", from Chris Rock, is hilarious. "Message From Penny", done by Janet Jackson is also pretty funny. Where's Method Man was cool.

Northern Period Counterpoint to "Sacred Harp".......2006-10-05
A beautiful collection of "low-church" hymns in a folk style, but from the North. Some similarities to Sacred Harp-style shape-note singing, mostly found in the South, but from New England and largely taken from mid-19th Century period sources. Extremely well-performed and haunting, these songs will be running through your head for weeks after your mega-church's latest electric guitar extravaganza fades away.
Nearly Lost Heritage.......2000-08-09
I am appreciative of any CD, such as this one, that brings the sounds of traditional hymns to modern ears. This CD includes familiar gospel with not so familiar hymns that whisper of a rich heritage nearly lost in the maze o modern choruses. Many of these modern songs lack the genuine passion found in the traditional songs found on this CD. I recommend this CD to those who are interested in cultural history as well as in beautiful hymn texts.

Pierce Brosnan may well be the most hyped James Bond since Sean Connery, but he's gratifyingly used his burgeoning Hollywood clout to midwife Evelyn, a warm, intimate portrait of an unemployed widower battling both the church and Irish government for the custody of his own children. Composer Stephen Endelman colors the film with a musical mix that leans on traditional Celtic folk touches (fiddle and pennywhistle), skillfully weaving them into an orchestral context that ranges from the gently pastoral to some emotionally detached minimalism. Anchored by vocal performances from Van Morrison and Sissel, and featuring a couple good-natured pub songs by Brosnan himself, it's an inviting soundtrack rooted in Irish traditions, yet one savvy enough to contrast them against a more modern emotional landscape. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Question..........2003-06-17
I want to dance to "Angel Rays" by Gemma Hayes with my dad at my wedding. Unfortunatly when I ordered the CD she was not singing it! It is another band, not like in the movie!! Can Somone help me find a copy with her singing it?? Thank you!
THIS SOUNDTRACK IS SO GOOD.......2002-12-27
I know everyone of you who saw just will love the soundtrack. I love the movie then bought the soundtrack. Thank you.
Wow!.......2002-11-29
I had been counting down the days until this album came out, and wound up driving two hours to buy it -- but it was time and money well-spent.
The soundtrack to "Evelyn" is both touching and light-hearted, with Irish jigs, pub songs, and heart-wrenching orchestral tunes. Full of rich emotion, it's easy to comprehend the film's main themes, though the movie won't be released for many weeks yet.
The record opens with Van Morrison's jazzy 'Sitting on Top of the World', then segues into the theme from the opening credits. Orchestration takes over, filled with tin whistles, bodhrans, and violins, giving the album a gentle, yet painful, Irish feel. Desmond's pain at losing his children is evident throughout, though there are some joyous passages. And there is, of course, Pierce Brosnan's singing on two tracks, the fun 'On the Banks of the Roses' and the depressing 'The Parting Glass'.
Perhaps the most touching tunes are 'The Verdict', a deeply emotional yet uplifting instrumental, and Sissel's 'Angel Rays', a tear-jerking piece about strength and courage.
Overall, the album is one of the finest examples of Irish music that I've heard. Filled with touching, emotional, yet rough tunes, it will have you believing in the power of the human spirit.

Underground Gangsta Classic.......2005-09-09
Sly Boogy is dope, this lyricist has madd flows comin from his head and he needs to be recognized, with the support of Sway & Tech, hes sure to have his time very soon, this cat can freestyle, i'll put him against many hot rappers right now, for sure. PEACE.West Coast Representin'.
Hot CD.......2005-08-07
This cd is dope. It has a G-Funk mentality but combines the slick flow of an underground westcoast MC (califonya!) named Sly Boogy. He is not your typical "floss and bling" type rapper. He uses witty ways to combine flossy rap styles with funny and witty punchlines. The beats on this steelo are also sick. If you want his best (imo) single, download It'z Nuthin'. A true club banger fo' sho. It is too bad that even though Sway has access to MTV, he doesn't promote this cat. Sly boogy has exactly what mainstream rap needs today: a sense of humor, good lyrics, with banging beats. If you like Sly Boogy, check out Krumbz and Bekay, 2 slept on MC's who also need alot more recognition than they are receiving.

Good and fresh style.......2005-07-05
Sly Boogy's Judgement Day is a damn good album. It's about time that rappers try to go beyond the stuff that's always just on the radio and on music video. I bought this album a few weeks after I heard "It's Nuthin" even though I knew it wouldnt be on this album. I didnt hear a single songm but still picked this up. Sly even puts on some freestyles and he is a pretty good lyricist. Get the album, support an artist who's making good music for himself and fans tired of the same old radio stuff. I would give it 5 stars, but some tracks I just dont listen to much, but it's a good album overall. Hottest tracks on here are:
