Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Ruby recorded 2 magnificent albums for Indigo Records, Guilty (1996) and Call Me By My Name (1998). Both, notably the former, were considerably Bluesier than her earlier (or indeed, subsequent) recordings, and stand up as perhaps her strongest studio work thus far. On Guilty she was backed by The Norman Beaker Band, with a guest appearance by Jools Holland, and she tackles a number of Blues and R&B standards, plus material by various other (largely contemporary) songwriters. However, Call Me By My Name, on which she was backed by a powerful session band, including Zoot Money, Bobby Tench and Boz Burrell, with a guest appearance from Stan Webb, features no less than nine of Ruby's own compositions. This is all truly powerful stuff. Castle Music. 2005.
