My favorite song is "Only Human".................That song gave a good sprit to me. I really do also loved "She's on the left", "Plane Love", "Stay with me tonight", "You should be mine(The woo woo song)", and "The Boarderlines". Those 6 songs are cool, but I don't know about the rest of this album. Thank You.

Ultimate Collection.......2006-11-11

This is the best collection of songs from Jeffrey Osborne. I wish he had a boxed set, but this will have to do for now. Great voice and great music on this cd.

There is hardly a song by this man that does not meet the 5 star category. Personally, he is pure genius. The songs are delivered brilliantly. The only minus is that there are not enough songs on this album.

Never underestimate the power of a Love Song. A love song has the power to bring people together in a very intimate setting and not only create a mood but enhance that mood. I have the utmost respect for the Love Song. Early on in my career I realized as a singer that my forte was delivering a love song. Singing love songs wasn't just my strength - it was my passion. That's why it gives me great pleasure to offer my greatest collection of songs ever put together.

From the opening selection, "Eenie Meenie," which was never a single but had the power to sell an album, to the closing classic, "Love Ballad," which has stood the test of time, this collection is full of some of my greatest moments as a singer and songwriter.

"I'll Make Believe," for me personally, is one of my finest vocal performances captured on record. It has the four elements that a singer likes to have command of - power, sensitivity, air and vibrato. I am very proud of this performance because I feel I delivered the passion in this one.

Excellent CD...if you are a Jeffrey Osbourne Fan, you can't go wrong. He was LTD...and of Love Ballad the old classic is on this CD as well. A perfect gift or a nice way to unwind.

A great but underrated balladeer at his best........2005-06-18

Jeffrey Osborne was one of the 1980s premier male R&B vocalists but he never really attained (in my opinion) the mainstream success and recognition he deserved. This near-perfect collection contains both his solo hits and some of his earlier work with LTD and can be considered a definitive compilation. Like Howard Hewett and James Ingram, Mr. Osborne was one of the best balladeers of his time but his albums (while critically acclaimed) did not sell well enough to keep him at the top of the charts.

His best album, period. All songs are master pieces. Also it's a showcase for the horn section and Louis Johnson on bass. Just listen to "ready for your love" and "Ain't nothin' missin', Fantastic!!

This album came out when I was btwn my junior and senior year in High School and it was given to me by my first love as a gift. It was terrific back then..and I do mean every song on it! I just loved it and I played it soooo much..Jeffrey hit the ground running with this solo debut..and it is now a classic.

Jeffrey Osborne begins his solo career wonderfully by
recruiting the production assistance of George Duke for a flowing
funk/pop collection on a par with his best work with LTD.But like
his old band Osborne tends to overindulge in smarmy pop/R&B
ballads that drag the mood of about half this album down a tad.
But in slick grooves like "New Love" and "I Really Don't Need
No Light",saddled to horn-heavy uptempo funk like "Ready For Your
Love","Who You Talkin' To?" and "Ain't Nothin' Missin" we are
reminded that even though he now considers himself a contemporary
adult soul balladeer Jeffrey Osborne is (and has continued to be)
a funkiteer at his heart.Amazing!

After years of listening to this album, I still have not grown tired of it. How could you? With a wonderful blend of funk-styled R&B and tender ballads, all performed with that intense, soulful R&B frontman flare that seems to have all but disappeared in the last decade or so, STAY WITH ME TONIGHT is one of the best R&B albums out there, and despite its genuine 1983 sound, it still holds up well today as an album that can get the party started, and even elevate the mood in the bedroom. With featured production from George Duke and plenty of respected L.A. session musicians at the helm, STAY WITH ME TONIGHT is a highly recommended classic.

The best Jeffrey Osborne album! .......2005-01-30

I thought that this 1983 album was the best one of the 5 albums that Jeffrey Osborne recorded for A&M in the '80s. This is even better than the '82 album that had On The Wings of Love. There's so much an emphasis on strong song making and a live sound. I still love Don't You Get So Mad, at one point in summer '83 my favorite song in a year when Michael Jackson dominated all music charts. George Duke produced his best songs for another artist besides himself with this one. Two Wrongs Don't Make It Right, the funky Stay With Me Tonight, We're Going All the Way, Plane Love (another funky number) and many others are what make this album stand out. Sometimes the album has some shades of '70s sounds, such as with his former group LTD. This really made Osborne a well received artist and he still is loved today by many fans!

Jeffrey's breakthrough solo album........2004-07-20

By itself, "We're Going All The Way" justifies buying this album. Why? It is quite simply Jeffrey's most beautiful ballad ever and one that will instantly put you in the mood for love and romance. Jeffrey Osborne was one of the 1980s best and most prolific male R&B singers and this was one of his strongest efforts.

Yeeeeeeeeees, Jeff!!!!.......2007-03-15

I found this gem through a download subscription service, Emusic, and had only heard one cut on Bay Area soul/R&B/quiet storm radio formats "Yes I'm Ready." Keep in mind, I was listening to this at work and my sound system leaves much to be desired. While I enjoyed the rendition, I am sure my elation was due to the fact that this promised a much better outing than the last rather dismal project, "Music Is Life." While the caliber of material there was not the best, there was no mistaking Jeffrey Osborne was in the house.

Last week while looking for downloads, I found this project and put on the first cut "Close the Door."

OFF THE CHAIN!!!

As a matter of fact, quite honestly the other cuts rather pale in compariosn to this one and it was a VERY wise move on the part of the A&R department to open the cd with this partiuclar track. It actually drives the remainder of this noteworthy project which is filled with top-rate soul classics with that inimitable Jeffrey Osborne flair.

I still contend that artists of Jeffrey's caliber deserve infinitely more than their recording companies offer especially in the realm of marketing more "mature" artists. The push here is to make the product hip/fresh (rough translation, "younger") all the while seriously compromising the integrity of real artists.

Nothwithstanding, this is a much better project than his last and true fans will appreciate the obvious care that went into the production. This is a worthy project because it is Jeffrey Osborne who has provided the music world with some very memorable performances.

Former LTD frontman hits a homer with classic R & B.......2007-02-23

Unlike other artists that have chosen to take the "standards" route, Osborne decided to try his hand at some truly certified charttoppers by the likes of Teddy Pendergrass ("Close the Door"),Roberta Flack ("The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"), Aretha Franklin ("Till You Come Back to Me"), Curtis Mayfield ("People Get Ready"), Stevie Wonder ("Knocks Me Off My Feet"), Barbara Mason ("Yes, I'm Ready"), as well as Crosby, Still, Nash, & Young ("For What It's Worth"). With the remaining songs being penned by such geniuses as Carole King ("Hey Girl") and Michael Masser ("All at Once"), there is no shortage of familiarity.

Not only are most of the songs faithful to the original compositions (some having slower tempos or slightly altered backgrounds), Osborne's powerful and distinctive delivery adds a dimension that makes them truly his.

The late Luther Vandross often so reworked at least one song on his album that one could almost forget that the song "belonged" to another.

With this release, Osborne is traveling in the same circle, with winning results.

I purchased 2 Jeffrey Osborne CDs, That's For Sure & From The Soul. On the "From The Soul" CD, i was very please to hear Jeffrey sing All At Once, a song he wrote for Whitney Houston's first Album, and he did a good remake of it. All the tracks on the CD are great and also his version of Stevie Wonder's Knocks Me Off My Feet. I don't have A Jeffrey Osborne DVD, but planning on getting one. What a great voice

Here is a romantic CD of easy listening. The previously well-known recorded tunes have been silhouetted against the jazzy voice of Jeffrey Osborne. The smooth bass background adds a hint of eloquence and sophistication. Listeners will enjoy the vibrant blends of diversity and charisma.

If you like the 70's and 80's then you will like this Jeffery osborne cd he does cover just as well as anyone else nothing stands out but it is good for putting a smile on your face.

All The Hits! - "Don't Stop!!!!".......2005-12-03

"Don't Stop, Stay With Me Tonight, Borderlines, On The Wings Of Love, The Woo Woo Song" - all the hits are here!!! "The Last Time I Made Love" with Joyce Kennedy is a beautiful track snd not a long ballad like most ballads were back then. These bring back many memories when I saw the videos for "Borderlines" and "Don't Stop." Rock, pop, soul, and relaxing laidback ballads make this cd complete. I also liked "Don't You Get So Mad and I Really Don't Need No Light." My favorite Osborne song of all time is "Plane Love" - which is a love-runaway track with it steady grooves and faded guitar arangements as well as great producing by Hawk. I wish this cd included the great ballads, "Baby" from his first lp and "Crazy Bout Cha" from 1984's Don't Stop lp. Only two losses, but a nice greatest hits cd to purchase for those that love 1980's R&B and adult complementary.

Jeffrey Osborne has always been one of my all time Favorite Artists. the Man has vocal range for days. "I really don't need no light", On the Wings of Love, Stay with me tonight, don't you get so mad,the Woo, Woo Song are all jams. Jeffrey Osborne is a Singer's Singer. One of the Baddest Soul brother's to ever rock a Microphone. His voice is timeless.

OUTSTANDING COMBINATION OF SONGS.......2002-07-03

This is a cd, that everyone must own. It combines, all of my favorite songs, from "On the Wings of Love", to "We're Going All the Way", to "The Last Time I Made Love". Jeffrey Osborne has put together a great combination of songs that keeps you singing throughout the entire cd. There are slow songs as well as fast songs that you can dance to as well. I was a little disappointed, because this cd, does not contain, any songs from the latest cd, "Thats For Sure". This cd contains GREAT songs that would have contributed more to this, 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection. After all, this is a new millennium, and Jeffrey Osborne has new music beyond his old music. HAPPY LISTENING.

This isn't a great album than the firt two... George Duke plays only on track 8... But for me is good also this one. Track 1 is written by Rod Temperton. Track 4 is written by Michael Masser and it's similar than a Whitney Houston's song. Track 6 is a duet with Portia Griffin. On track 9 I like the sound of the keyboards... If you have the first two albums, than buy also this!

Among Jeffrey's strongest and most pleasant efforts........2004-05-18

Jeffrey Osborne's skills as a soul balladeer are evident on such numbers as "In Your Eyes", "Come Midnight", "We Belong To Love" and "Room With A View". This 1986 release was one of Jeffrey's strongest albums but it did not duplicate the success of 1983's "Stay With Me Tonight" (although both albums are quite similar as far as the choice of material and production are concerned). The only track you should skip is "Love's Not Ready"- a truly mediocre uptempo beater that does not belong here.

Something Missin'.......2001-05-07

Generally enjoyable but inconsistent effort by JO; however, as usual the stronger tracks (Woo Woo, Emotional) make up for some of the album's other failings (Love's Not Ready in particular; don't know what they were thinking here!). Overall not one of his best projects as the various styles don't blend together into a cohesive whole. Some tracks are too "studio" as well.

Still a superb album. .......2005-01-29

I wanted to get this album when it came out back in 1988, but I got it in summer '89. I can't tell you how many times I sang along to She's On The Left and All Because of You and its spare sections! Can't Go Back on A Promise I still like! The other songs like One Love, One Dream, Cindy, You Can't Get Love from A Stone are some other super efforts. Jeffrey Osborne had his 5th best album after the '82, '83, '84 and '86 albums with this one. I never thought that he would pull this one off in a year that Bobby Brown, Keith Sweat and Al B Sure dominated R&B but he proved to be just as competitive. One of his finest works as an artist and a more mature sounding effort too.

The Beginning of A New Era.......2004-02-09

From the poppy synths to the tight,slick grooves of urban contemporary. From the happy proclamation of love in the opening title track, to the painfully romantic lament of Cindy, this disc is compelling. The fact that many critics dismissed it, upon release, such as Ron Wynn, who in 2 words summed up his opinion "Rather Drab" kept many from making this a purchase of theirs. There's also a demeaning factor that A&M upon closing in the mid nineties (it opened again in 1999) deleted a great deal of its catalog...including every album by Herb Alpert (co-owner of the label) and Gato Barbieri...saving only huge hitmakers such as Janet Jackson, Sting, Sheryl Crow, among others. They did still print Osbornes first albums but in limited quantity and only kept one LTD disc in print as well. Hopefully Universal will at least reprint these albums so people can hear this mans voice. its there, its hot, and its still so entertaining. If they were remastered it might even make me re-buy them. Get this if you can!

Finally, a series that REALLY has the full length remixes! Most compilations have 2 or 3 extended versions tossed in with the rest of the radio versions. Every song on this CD is the full length club mix we heard in the discos.

With great tunes like Shame, and More, More, More this CD hits the mark.

But the BEST song on the compilation is Vicki Sue Robinsons "HOLD TIGHT". If this tune doesn't get you up and dancing, you're dead! And it times in at over 11 minutes!

Jeffrey Phenomenal, Orchestrations Wanting.......2006-08-11

I think Jeffrey pulls off "Rest Of Our Lives", "Caller ID" and "Her Kisses" but the rest of the CD is mediocre because the material doesn't match Jeffrey's excellent voice. I hope the producers of his next CD raise the bar material-wise to match Jeffrey's skillset.

His best post A&M records period album! .......2005-01-29

I think that Music Is Life is his best post A&M records album! The songs have better melody, rhythm and Jeffrey Osborne sounds so fabulous vocally. It helps that Jeffrey and another producer produced all of the songs, showing that he had more creative control. I like Caller ID, where he goes after the woman who is with another man by checking the messages on her phone answering machine to see if she is cheating on him. Another surprise is his remake of his former group LTD's Stranger and its familiar, famous NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, NA section that some R&B singers like R. Kelly have sung on their songs. The last album sounded too elevator music like, but Music Is Life is Jeffrey at his finest.

After all of these years He still have it. A must have CD. With Jeffrey: Music Is Life, Barrington Henderson: Best Kept Secret, and The Temptations;Legacy is good riding music. Keep up the good work Jeffrey.

What a disappointment.......2004-04-27

There wasn't one song, including stranger, that I liked. I expected selections similar to the album one love and emotional. I wanted those kinds of songs and I didn't get it. The songs seemed empty and quickly put together. Nothing different in the melodies. This CD goes on the back shelf. I am still a fan just not of this album.

The Voice - Still Phenomenal - the Material - (sigh, sigh).......2003-08-26

It was indeed refreshing and exciting to learn that Jeffrey Osborne, one of the greatest male vocalists R&B has produced, indeed had new product out. Unfortunately, had I not been informed by one of my Amazon Favorite People, I would never have known this new project existed, which, to me says an awful lot about the PR machine from his record label.

Quite honestly, the CD is indeed subpar. Once you are over the excitement that Jeffrey has indeed come out with new product, the most discernible ear recognizes that this is a prime example of a voice not being able to overcome mediocre material. Quite frankly, Jeffrey deserves the attention of the top-notch producers of the day. Far too often, veteran artists with real talent are forced by record companies to stay hip, fresh, innovative, blah, blah, blah, and then hand them beat-up producers who are so overwhelmed with the celebrity that the product is lost.

To be sure, this CD is mediocre but still well worth being a part of your collection, simply because it is Jeffrey. As a matter of fact, I would venture it is far superior to Luther's latest project "Dance With My Father" but in all honesty, that is not saying much at all! (see my review of Luther's latest project....I was NOT well at all!)

In any event, I hope this in indicative of better days and better effort on the part of Jeffrey's label. This is a premiere vocalist who deserves better than this. I certainly hope he gets it.
