so much talent, BUT.......2007-07-14

After reading many of the reviews for both J.Wright's albums, I have to agree their mostly on point. I prefer this release to her debut, possibly because it sounds like she has tempered her anger (and unnecessary cussing) to concentrate on lyrics that really work, all the way around. I have to say though that maybe Ms. Wright's biggest obstacle is "herself." Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being a "bad girl" and being real with the "I don't give a fu*#" attitude, but I saw her live a few years ago in a small setting, and was very disappointed. She was criticizing her band, the house sound system, and was just in a foul mood. She didn't even come out to thank the crowd, or sing a song for her last set.
I am still a fan of her music, but personally, I she wouldn't be first on my dinner guest list.

So sad that I have been missing out on this great record for over a year. It would totally not be the case if urban radio wasn't playing crap 24/7. This is one of the best R&B records to come out in years, it is a shame that hardly no one even knows about it. Unreal. Good from start to finish. Not many records being made currently that you can put on and leave it, Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul is definitely one of them.

Jaguar Wright does not disappoint with her sophomore record Divorcing Neo to Marry Soul. There is something for all music lovers - house, hip hop, R&B, and soul. The only travesty with the release of this record is that it is not being played on Top 40 Radio. This is a must have for serious R&B and soul music collectors.

....I'm jeeeeeessssst not feelin' her...she okay but she just didn't do it for me...most of her tracks sounds like she is fast 'filling in the blanks' (you know--like you do when you takin' a test and tryin' to hurry up and get outside for recess back in tha' day)...dats how her lyrics come across to me.

The track "Do your Worst"---was to me...wayyyyy too much (you can tell she was really tryin' to get a personal message to some knuckle-head in her life becuz that's all she kept sayin'..."...do yo' worse baby...is that tha' best you got...do yo' worse"...yadda' yadda')----

And damn it WAS--one of the WORSE.

ANNNND WOW!!!--Tha' fact that she 'cursed' a classic like "Woman to Woman" with that getto' rendition...really 'P%#$&d me off! Some classics don't need to be updated..and that was trash to me.

Maybe if I listen to it 100 more timz (make that 1fiddy)...I may get it. Wait!...nope---no I won't. Ain't no sense in me even lyin' bout dat. Immo have to pass on her.

the thing with miss wright is what u c isnt always what u get.Her voice is a powerful machine in which she uses to full advantage.Strong ,angry and very self focused while still maintaining a soft ,sensitive side.Tracks like my place and let me be the one are floaty yet still remain coated in jaguar's fierce sense of self worth and independence.

The highlight for me is woman 2 woman where miss wright adresess her partners bit on the side strong knowlegeable and without dipping into the cliches jaguar maybe neo or old skool but she aint about to get all ghetto on ya ass !x

Arguably one of the best albums of the year. Includes some of the best production from Rapahel Saadiq, Chucky Thompson to back up her amazing, soulful vocals. With amazingly superb tracks like "Free", The 12 minute long "Do Your Worst", "Woman 2 Woman" and "Told Ya", this is a must have for all lovers of music, especially if you love soul.
