Album Description
Funky beats, crazy lyrics, and the guitar of Kidd Funkadelic himself combine to create a fitting final Westbound LP for Funkadelic. This 1976 album saw them score another Top 20 hit as P-Funk madness started to take over the R&B charts. Includes the R&B hit "UnDisco Kidd", which sees George Clinton and Bootsy define the Funkadelic sound that would peak with "One Nation Under A Groove" two years later. The 2005 CD package also reissues all seven tracks of the original album and adds the rare 45 edit of "UnDisco Kidd" from the same year. Includes in-depth notes by Funkadelic expert Dean Rudland, including information taken from exclusive interviews with band member Fuzzy Haskins and the band's press officer Tom Vickers. The booklet fully reproduces Pedro Bell's distinctive cartoon artwork, and features period memorabilia and photographs. Westbound U.S.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Funkadelic album!.......2007-07-25
This was one funky album by the Funkmaster Mr. Clinton and his funk croonies. I love the "Undisco Kidd and I'm Never Gonna Tell It". Those are my two favorite tracks on the whole album. I copped this album on cd some 14 years ago when it was first released on compact disc along with the other Funkadelic titles. Definitely a good cd to have in one's collection.

The End of the Westbound Era.......2006-03-18
The reason why this LP isn't as "up-to-snuff" as the previous Funkadelic Westbound albums is because this LP is basically made up of leftover tracks from the 'Let's Take It To The Stage' recording sessions. By 1976 (when this LP came out), Funkadelic had moved to the Warner Brothers label, and recorded the 'Hardcore Jollies' LP. Westbound went into the vaults and created this album with leftover material that didn't make it onto the 'Let's Take It To The Stage' LP (Westbound also did this with leftover Ohio Players material, creating the 'Climax' and 'Rattlesnake' LP's). But, being that Funkadelic's music is so unique and ahead of it's time, the album was still good. In fact, 'Tales Of Kidd Funkadelic' did better on the charts than 'Hardcore Jollies'. "Undisco Kidd" and "Take Your Dead Ass Home" even went on to become standards at P-Funk concerts. All-in-all, I'd say that Westbound did a pretty good job in putting this LP together. Plus, since this was the last LP of the Westbound era, it definitely belongs in your collection.
Ruined by 2 songs.........2006-03-06
Can someone please explain to me why the best songs on here are too short, while the most annoying songs-Take Your Dead Ass Home & the title track are too long?
I can listen to other Funkadelic albums like Maggot Brain or One Nation Under A Groove all the way through without a need to skip, but not this one.
And the fact that Let's Take It To The People is less than 2 minutes is a crime!
The Vinyl Is More Stanky.......2005-04-10
A must have for P. Funk fans. But they cleaned up the master too much when transferred to CD. I would hunt down the vinyl to get all the stank and to see the incredible artwork
the funkadelic legacy continues.......2003-11-27
not the best funkadelic record but it's tight and every p funk collector needs it the first song butt to butt recitation has a blazing solo by michael hampton everybody needs to go see this man do maggot brain in concert, and then there's undisco kidd which is george clinton basically making fun of disco and I'm never gonna tell it is way ahead of its time and then bernie scares the hell outta people in the title track jessica cleaves was so scared she ran out the studio saying this is devil's music and the last cut how do yeaw view you is a little scary with haunting vocals andf bernie on keyboards a classic.
Swampy,Gurgling Mess Of Heavy Funk Grooves.......2003-09-25
"Tales of Kidd Funkadelic" is often written off an a
very unimportant album-NOT TRUE!,
"Let's Take It To The People" and the Parliament-like "Undisco
Kid' are Funkadelic CLASSICS not to be missed. And along with the
moody electronica of Bernie Worrels tital intrumental and the
deeply grooving closer "How Do You View You" this really can't be
missed by any son or daughter or hopeful of the P!
