Logic would dictate that if Aaron Neville can't make it a soulful Christmas, nobody can. Neville's one of the only mere mortals who can actually deliver on the old saw about having a voice so sweet he could sing the phone book. Problem is that Neville, who is notorious for making the wrong career choices, probably would sing the phone book if someone signed the check. Consequently, even though he includes the typical standards on Soulful Christmas, they still ring true with his magical voice. "Such a Night" and "Louisiana Christmas Day," however, stand out with soul and are required additions to any funky holiday party mix. --Michael Ruby

Our Family's Favorite Christmas CD.......2006-12-04

Wow, what a great Christmas CD. It has become traditional at our house to make this the first CD listened to as we unpack all of our Christmas decorations, and the last listened to as we finish repacking at the end of the season. We also like listening to this one after the kids have gone to bed and we feel like relaxing and experiencing the many faceted wonders of the Christmas season.

Aaron Neville voice is at times reverent, mellow, thoughtful, soulful, dreamy, and downright fun. He captures the many different moods we all feel throughout the Christmas season. The band is simply superb, as are the arrangements and sound mix. This CD has both traditional religious carols as well as fun seasonal songs.

We were blessed to see Aaron sing with Roberta Flack and Melissa Manchester in a "Colors of Christmas" concert some years back, and this CD brings back his spellbinding singing from the stage.

If you like a variety of Christmas music, this CD will likely become a favorite of yours, too.

The Best Christmas Album.......2004-12-19

Aaron Neville's Soulful Christmas is a must have. He has the voice of an angel; I've never heard anyone do Christmas better than Aaron.

Hands down, this is the best christmas album available. Classics (like Christmas Song, Silent Night, etc) mixed with Neville's own take on christmas (Louisiana Christmas Day, Such a Night) make an incredible cd. It is not really christmas until this cd is playing in the backgroud and you're sipping eggnog with your family.

Some of the best Christmas standards sung by the man with the voice of an angel. Can't be beat and I've listened to just about all the Christmas music around.
