I won't do what ya tell me!.......2007-06-01
It's idiotic that they accuse Rage Against the Machine of being hypocrites. How else is Rage going to get their message out there? Just like Morello said they could play to empty squats, but they need to be able to show people whats up. People need to wake up and i guess being endorsed by SONY so that later on, getting your message out could pay off was the idea Rage had. I say Infectious Groves' ideas blow, but the music isn't half bad.
A drummers perspective.......2005-06-13
If you like great drummers add Brooks Wackerman to the list.
High energy, heavy speed metal, double bass, funk. It doesn't get any better than what Brooks does here. He is fluid with great all around technique. Guess it runs in the family. If you are drummer try playing along to this CD! I wish you luck.
Good God..........2005-04-23
I recently pulled this out of my 1000+ collection because I wanted something different than the usual crap that comes out now days. I loved this band back in the day, and I have to say that I still find this freaking CD amazing today. It is great music...period. If you don't have this, you should be ashamed of yourself...pick it up immediately.
Super Dooper.......2000-10-10
I give out a lot of five star reviews mostly because I only take the time to review the best stuff. This album is wonderful. Though I like the new album Mas Burracho slightly better, It wasn't a large enough gap to drop a star. Everything this band does is great. Though they can in some ways be compared to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Infectious Grooves have a harder edge and a distinct sound. Ignore the bad comments about this one! I happen to be a musician and a lover of old soul, latin, classic rock, jazz, etc. And I'll tell you right now these guys are GOOD! "Die like a Pig" and "Violent and Funky" are my favorite tracks. Bass player Robert Trujillo tears it up like you can't believe!
yep!! We are Family!!!.......2000-08-14
this is one of my fav albums, i just love the way they mixed punk, funk and cyyyyyyco. This album is a round production. but listen "it's not where you are from is where you are going"

FGC Continues to Climb with Excellent Sophomore Album........2006-06-12
A longtime fan of Family Groove Company's first album, Reachin', I was eagerly looking forward to hearing The Charmer for the first time. After a handful of listens, their second release has proven to set the bar even higher. Everything about the new material has appealed to me; saying the album shows "maturity" sounds like a cliche, but the band really seems to have developed. The Charmer seems more diverse stylistically, the lyrics have progressed, and as in Reachin', that great polished sound and sense of unity within the band is present.
Standout tracks include The Charmer, One Eye Dreaming, Virginia Hill, Ready Fire Aim, and the instrumental Byron's Got the Time. Family Groove Company has incorporated most of these tracks into their live shows where they take on a whole new life. All in all, The Charmer is a standout album, complimenting the band's standout concerts.

Album Description
Instrumental trio Green Light is drummer Adam Snow, bassist Dustin Hofsess, and guitarist Kevin Gill. This is a band that is coming from many different places musically. As a result, the Green Light audience is made up of an interesting variety of people: jazzers and rockers, the folky and the funky, hippies and computer programmers, the drunk and the devout... Each of them finds something about Green Light's music that draws them into the swirling vortex of energy that this band creates.
The group draws from a deep well of influences. Some key points of departure are: the spirituality, intense energy, and exploratory improvisation of saxophone master John Coltrane; the raw blues-rock power, and psychedelic colors of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd; the funky rhythmic tension and down- home soul of the Meters and Sly & the Family Stone; the groundbreaking jazz/rock/funk fusion of Miles Davis; the beautiful reggae grooves of Bob Marley & the Wailers. As well as drawing inspiration from these relatively well known artists, Green Light infuses their music with sounds from all over the globe, including African, Indian, Middle Eastern, Cuban, and Brazilian musical elements.
Green Light music is powerful, raw, soulful, mysterious, spontaneous, positive and life-affirming. This is music made for people who long for originality and unadulterated creativity. To experience Green Light is to be taken on a consciousness-expanding trip

I ORDERED THIS CD 2 MONTHS AGO. AFTER SEVERAL DELAY NOTIFICATIONS, NOW THE ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATES ARE 3/22-4/9. WHEN I GET IT, I'LL LET YOU KNOW.
flows, goes, and blows my mind.......2005-09-27
very very melodic, the jams are eccentric in a good mellow, fasinating way that captivates you and almost holds you in the music not letting you turn it off or down. the musicianship is superb. i would most deffinantly recommend getting this cd if you are any fan of music at all, you will not be let down i promise. the three in the band know what they are doing and know how they are doing it. you will not get tired of them. the media reviews are not misleading at all latin, jazz, african, cuban, its all there in the music. music lovers beware... you may have just found your new favorite band

Album Description
Family Groove Company is tremendously proud of their 10-track debut album, "REACHIN'". Containing 10 tracks and over an hour's worth of music, the album provides an intriguing insight into the band's unique voice. Family Groove Company's songs reflect elements of rock, funk, and jazz, and even a cursory listen to the material will reveal an uncompromised commitment to the groove. The band integrates the groove sensibility developed by James Brown and Herbie Hancock, with the more traditional song structure and consciousness of the hook revolutionized by the Beatles. Rich vocal harmonies and a passionate dedication to improvisation are the threads that tie it all together, creating a sound that captivates audiences ranging from the most casual music fan to the most critical musician. Truly, the sonic thrill one experiences with the album is exceeded only by the intensity of their live performances.
Customer Reviews:
Just what I was looking for!.......2006-06-06
I have been looking for a band like Family Groove Company for my entire life! There jazz harmonic ideas encounter thick grooves, and the bands improvisational/"jam" talent is by far best done by FGP. I loved this disc because this bands not your average, boring, jam band. They are actually extremely talented and original! I would DEF. give this band & this album a huge chance. Also- I saw this band a week ago at Park West, OUTSTANDING!
Great offering from an up-and-coming band..........2004-07-05
I was lucky enough to get ahold of an autographed copy of Reachin' (thanks FGC!) and after my first listen, I've become quite fond of it.
Family Groove Company is definitely a band on the rise. They have a sound unique to that of most run-of-the-mill jambands. Their live shows are what you really want to see, but Reachin' provides a nice alternative look at FGC's sound.
As I began listening, the first two songs, "Agenda" and "Just Like I Planned" really jumped out at me. They have such a joyous, euphoric sound that you can't help but smile. The album continues on with some nice tunes, before reaching a number of my favorites. Track 7, "One's On the Way" showcases FGC's jamming chops, and the following tunes, "Interesting Changes" and "Seein'" have really incredible vocals.
I highly reccomend purchasing both "Reachin'" and a concert ticket to the next Family Groove Company show near you!
adam lewis and company have rocked the world.......2004-05-19
if i had to buy any cd of this genre, reachin would be the cd to get. i am a friend and loyal fan of adam lewis, the kickin guitarist who has taught me everything i know on that instrument, adam is one of the most talented guitarists ive ever seen, move over hendrix!!!
Put your party pants on!!!.......2002-08-20
This CD is Jumpin'!!! I've heard so many Jam Bands lately that all sound the same, but Family Groove Company's vibe is so different. Each song has it's own unique characteristics, and they're all really catchy too. FGC goes everywhere from rockin' , to bluesy, to jazz, and there's even a ballad, but every song has a truly deep groove to it. It is a FUNKY record! If you are interested in a fresh new sound to get down to, Reachin' is the answer.
From a loyal fan for life, Thanks.

It's not possible for these guys to make a bad recording 4.5 stars.......2007-07-07
That being said, this is not my favorite of their CDs--and I do have most of them. This is a good intro to folks who've never heard the group before, though, and an excellent add to any collection.
I will never listen to Steve Miller's "Fly Like An Eagle" the same again. The Nevilles took I song I mostly ignored and turned it into something that really does fly. Aaron's gorgeous as always--and as much as I love him by himself, I like him better with the family around.
My favorites are "Yellow Moon" for the intense Nawlins feel to the music, "Brother's Keeper" for the intense social mission, and "Walking in the Shadow of Life" because it's a balance of both the two I mentioned before.
Nevilles groovin.......2006-04-14
The last reviewer is wrong, this is one of the Nevilles best! They are as funkey as ever, maybe even more so. Check out the fast funky workout of Let My People Go, the drummer is really kicking!
Fly Like An Eagle is a standout as well. the Nevilles have never sounded better, get this one now!
Grooves for all the family.......2001-08-07
Family Groove will not go down as the best Neville Brothers album, but it could prove quite popular nevertheless. While the Nevilles' distinctive New Orleans voodoo funk, such as on Yellow Moon, is slightly diluted here, there is still much to enjoy.
It is a solid and entertaining effort from start to finish and will disappoint few. Family Groove is probably more instantly accessible than their other albums, and it would make a great introduction for those unfamiliar with the kings of the Big Easy.
Take Me To Heart and I Can See It In Your Eyes are stand-out ballads, while the title track and Fly Like An Eagle are well executed cover versions. The bonus of course is Aaron Neville's peerless voice. Good value.
