3 out of 5 stars Keep it slow, ladies... .......2007-02-28

This album was released during an era where slow jams were in and giving up-tempo R&B flavor a try was also in. Like many of their counterparts during that time, the pretty ladies of Changing Faces needed to realize their strength in ballads and avoided trying any up-tempo material. However, there are a couple of good tunes on this album, particularly the slow jam, "All Is Not Gone", where sorrow and regret serves as a theme for a song that was definitely written with the intent of winning over ones with heartbreaks in their history. R. Kelly-produced hit "Stroke You Up" was a radio smash, but the lyrics weren't exactly poetic or articulate. But, it's still a popular track that may bring back some old school nostalgia for some of you.

4 out of 5 stars Sounds of a still recent past.......2006-09-27

Even if i've loved their last album more than the previous two, this has been a good start for these singers. Obviously, while you're listening to these musical arrangements you can easily guess the period when the album has been released. But considering what kind of disks we found currently on the shelfs of the music stores, i truly can't say that Changing Faces deserves some of the very negative reviews that i've read here. I disagree about every comment not strictly related to the artistic contents, because i think that this is the main problem of the modern music low quality. We often forget that the best judge for music are our ears, not our eyes...

1 out of 5 stars Wack in '94. . .Still Wack in `06.......2006-04-29

In high school "Stroke You Up" was the jam, so I went downtown and bought the cassette. Let me tell you something: It took me 2 days to listen to it because it was utterly boring. Even "Stroke You Up" became unbearable to listen to. No funk, no groove- just lukewarm soul. That was the first *and* the last time I listened to "Changing Faces." The two chicks who made up "Changing Faces" had airy, monotonous vocals- no edge to their voices at all. Even the album cover looked boring. These chicks had no style or any type of pizzazz at all. Skip this at all costs and get Zhane.

Wow R. Kelly really influnced so many artists throughout the early 90s Sex Craze. Every song on the radio was about sex and I found that to be very irritating. Stroke You Up is one of those songs that pushed the (RIAA) limits that had every adolescent girl singing about something she'd probably never done before. I find it sad that people listen to this mess and actually enjoy it. Even though the album is quite old now that dont take away the fact this album is still garbage years later. People really need to find something worth spending money on besides pointless silly immature songs like the one's found throughout this whole entire album. Nothing on her is enjoyable, just a bunch of watered down medicore R&B songs with bad writing that some record producer through together in about 10 minutes time. If that is R&B music then maybe I need to find a different gerne. Skip this if you're into Old School R&B Music.

5 out of 5 stars Changing Faces.......2005-09-24

I remember this debut album. I love that song Stroke U Up. That was the slow jam. On this album,The duo's vocal performances reasurred the audience that '90s R&B can be smooth as ever. The songs speak about romance and heartbreak. This album truly favor mid-tempo music. This album has been certified Gold. Remember, this was 1994-1995. I love the videos by the way.

Flaunting a newly developed carnal side, Charisse Rose and Cassandra Lucas slink up to the material on their second album, All Day, All Night, like a pair of tigers on the prowl. Each tune is punctuated by luxurious harmonies and seductive vocal tricks. The title track features their voices weaving in and out of the laidback groove as they toss out tantalizing lines like "I need a man who's going to do me right." The hip-hop driven "All Of My Days," which features Jay-Z, finds the New York girls grounding the song with their natural licks. And even the varying production work of mega-producers R. Kelly and Bryce Wilson, amongst others, fails to throw Changing Faces for a loop. The group moves easily through the diverse textures of each track, keeping it a consistently intimate affair. --Aidin Vaziri

4 out of 5 stars Just As Good As The First.......2007-03-09

This album is a pretty solid effort but with a few flaws. The topics could've been better, and tracks 12-14 are useless. R.Kelly did his thing with G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T and Jay-Z with "All of My Days". The album is worth a listen but the fans would probably like the first one a little better.

5 out of 5 stars This is my favorite CD!.......2005-01-14

Changing Faces All Day All Night is my personal favorite CD to date. I long for the days when this was R&B.When it was still about singing and song, not gimics and rappers. Ghettout one and two are gems on the album and just have the whole R. Kelly vibe which Changing Faces are perfect for. Time After Time has been remade hundreds and hundreds of times in all genres of music but This is by FAR the best remake of the song ever done..Cassandra takes it there. I am so infatuated with Cassandra Lucas.Other hot tracks..Thinkin bout you, All Day All Night(this song ladies and gentelmen is what r&b should be)..This album also Has my alltime favorite slow jam, you can be my baby tonight..Standing Ovation..all day all night every day every night, a classic is forever even listening today in 2005.

5 out of 5 stars Very Nice Album!!!!!.......2003-10-10

This is Changing Faces second album and it is very good R. Kelly helped with the producing on this album also.... He did a very good job again as always ... These ladies are best friends and they have nice voices and sing very well together this is a very nice album and would reccommend anyone who bought their first album to buy this one also!!!!!

These women have very nice voices and they sing very well they have done another good job on another album so therefore buy this album and by the way JAY-Z does a cut on this album with these girls!!!!

4 out of 5 stars intresting.......2003-09-22

changing faces are one one my favorite R&B groups, even though they have not came out with a album in a few years. they are always talking about expierences that they have gone through that I can relate to. I also love their style and the ghetto vibe . I have three main songs that i love from them, they are...
1. foolin around
2. that other woman
3. GHETT OUT

3 out of 5 stars Not as tight as their first album.......2003-02-26

First off, it is painfully obvious that R. Kelly produced several songs on here because they all sound like his past hits. "G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T.", their biggest hit, has production that sounds a lot like the "Down Low" remix; "All of My Days" (featuring Kelly and a dope verse from Jay-Z) sounds like "Humpin' and Bouncin'"; the title track sounds like the original version of "Down Low" and "G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T. Part II" sounds like the "I Can't Sleep Baby" remix (Kelly even sings the "naa-naa-naa-naa" line on here). When Changing Faces aren't busy duplicating R.'s success, it's not much better. On "I Apologize", they say such clichéd lyrics as "I'm down on my knees/Begging you please". Their first album is much better and I didn't pick up their third album, Visit Me, because of my disappointment for this album.

4 out of 5 stars Ain't that bad at all........2007-06-01

I admit it. At first listening to this album I wasn't that impressed, but it usually takes a couple listens to appreciate some albums. So what's good about it? Well, it's actually pretty good. Songs like Visit Me, Come over, That other woman and Out of Sight are great songs, that sound sweet and seductive, especially Out of Sight (which is probably the best song). I guess for some people, you would have to be in the mood to listen to songs like these, so I wouldn't recommend it, if you don't like this kind of Rnb (mainly slow, sweaty and sexy like this album). There are some songs though, that I just wasn't feeling. So it's a 3.75.

5 out of 5 stars Their best album.......2006-09-27

During their rather short career, Changing Faces showed a constant artistical growth. So, this album has been really their best effort. The girls shines in Joe's produced "That Other Woman", one of my favorite tracks of that period. This song, and at least other four good tracks included on the album, made me think about how the right producers can influence the final quality of a musical project.
I think that Changing Faces deserves to be treated how good performers. Maybe they haven't given us songs to be remembered how milestones of R&B music, but compared to the dreadful things that we listen now on the radio...i really can't understand some of the previous negative comments (ok, i don't understand even how someone can give a five stars rating to Paris Hilton's album...but this is another story).

5 out of 5 stars LONDON OR JAPAN.......2006-05-14

I absolutely love this cd. I just listened to it after a couple of years and was surprised that I forgot how good this cd is.
So it was 2001 and a friend that stayed in the college dorms was giving it away for free. So being the collector that I am...it was mine.
I have always loved Changing Faces as a group but never brought any of their music because it appeared that they would just put out some hits and that was it...nothing too special.
However this cd was different.
My fav tracks are 1-5 easily. Can skip from there and take it to 10-12.
If you are looking for an great R&B album, with quality slow jams, this cd is for you. There are 7 that I like.
Great under-rated cd.

3 out of 5 stars the cover advertise something thats not there.......2005-04-01

its TOO polished....if they want to be more refine then
whats up with the breast implants? (i forgot wich one has them, maybe charise?) and album cover?.you
can be classy and still be dirty.nice album but a lil
raunchiness won't hurt.they need to make up they mind,do you
want to be sweet ladies or sultry vixens?.though they showed alot of maturity with their last album this one included.the problem i had was that i exspected something suductive, atleast from the album cover but its the exact opposite.they use their sex appeal for their image but not for their music. their like a tease,a verry well maketed tease none theless.anyway back on topic, the album is real moody, and slow.it has the atmosphere of a seductfull album, but the subject matter is typical female drama stories(wich is ok if thats what your into).but to me i HATE that, because its the same stories over and over again.however i love the song the other woman though.

5 out of 5 stars well rounded album.......2005-01-14

I will say this is not my favortie Changing Faces album because All Day All Night is my favorite album of all time. Visit Me(my favorite track on the album) sounds like a lost track from all day all night, its a sensual invitation to a bedroom meeting. The girls both come threw on the track vocally..I love it when they play off of each others energy.Vocally Cassandra and Cherise have this amazing chemistry that is currently lost in todays r&b market. I love Aaliyah but her version of Come Over doesnt hold a candel to theirs, Cassandra Lucas' voice is just beyond seductive. Baby You Aint Got Me, a very uptempo track with queen pen is a standout, you can actually sing and carry uptempo songs, another skill lost among todays r&b females..Ciara*cough*.I also enjoy the live track more than a friend and the duets shine especially You Told Me..Cherise lets go on that track and I was surprised.another solid effort from the classiest sounding ladies of r&b..by the way the sexxy new look is hot!

5 out of 5 stars Witty, amusing and full of irony.......1999-02-04

This album demonstrates 10cc's ability to play any style at all. Songs are often pastiches or gently poke fun (Particularly at the music industry). The quality of the mucianship is extremely high. Technically practically perfect! Wall Street Shuffle is an absolute classic, along with I'm Not In Love of course. This compilation of greatest hits does not fully reflect 10cc's all round ability. Their singles were not always their best work. Occasionally perhaps the silliness of the lyrics can go a bit overboard but if if you want an album that's different and will make you smile this is it. How many music albums can be as funny as a stand up comic?

2 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as "The History Mix-Volume 1".......1998-08-22

I was really excited to see a new release of Godley & Creme but was disappointed with this album. Some cuts are the same as The History Mix, but without the extended composition. For instance, Cry is missing the entire introduction! This album has a lot of songs which are good, but missing the aura that made the History Mix great.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Best of nineties Britpop.......2003-04-14

Louise is a fine singer who began her career with the group Eternal. She recorded one album with them, yielding the British top ten hits Stay, Just a step from heaven and Oh baby, which peaked at 4, 8 and 4 respectively.

After splitting from Eternal to go solo, she recorded three albums prior to this greatest hits package. The singles released from those albums were very successful, all reaching the UK top twenty and many of them reaching the top ten. Her biggest hits were Two faced and Arms around the world, which peaked at 3 and 4 respectively.

Many of her songs were originals, but she also had hits with Stuck in the middle with you (Stealers wheel), Let's go round again (Average white band) and The slightest touch (Five star). All of these were updated to suit Louise's style.

Louise is a brilliant singer whose music is well worth investigating, if you are even a little bit interested in nineties Britpop.

5 out of 5 stars The very best.. to say the least..........2002-04-13

Louise has never had a hit in the US, or released an album here. That hasnt stopped me from discovering what an awesome talent she is. Both charming, and down right delightful, this disc is a must have for any true fan of pop music. From "Naked" to "Beautiful inside" she delivers one great song after another. The inclusion of the Eternal singles was a nice touch, but not at all necessary seeing as how she recorded so many really great solo singles. "Beautiful inside","2 faced", "In walked love", "Undivided love", "Lets go round again" and "Naked" would have done it for me. Luckily someone decided otherwise! Hopefully she'll head our way now that EMI has let her go... she'd do rather well on the US charts.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Pop.......2002-03-11

Most people will probably best remember Louise for her days in Eternal, the British girl group that were the real instigators of girl power. After a highly-publicised departure, Louise left and this greatest hits effectively shows off her solo hits as well as some reworkings of the old Eternal material. This is definitely one of the better greatest hits around, as the singles were always undoubtedly Louise's strong point, despite three solid albums behind her now.

The classics from the first album are arguably the best, with 'Naked' especially being a true classic of mid-90's pop music. Other singles from that album include fan-favourites 'Light Of My Life' and 'In Walked Love'. As a ballad, 'Light Of My Life' employs very strong vocals with thankfully unsentimental lyrics. These three singles perhaps more than any others are the real standouts on the album. Also taken from the first album is 'Undivided Love', an upbeat and infectious little number.

From Louise's second album come the hits singles 'Arms Around The World', a definite highlight, along with the cover of 'Let's Go Round Again', which is the disco pastiche included. However, it's surprisingly not cheesy and has been well done so that it fits well alongside the more modern hits. The less successful 'All That Matters' is here as well, which bops along quite nicely.

The third album songs are those that the younger audience will remember, as the older ones do go a fair way back. They include 'Two-Faced' which is simply delightful in saying exactly what Louise thinks of the two-faced people around her. Then there's the straightforward pop of 'Beautiful Inside', which shows that Louise isn't afraid to go back to a simplistic yet highly effective pop formula.

The new tracks, including a great cover version of 'Stuck In The Middle', a good value as well. However, the covers of old Eternal classics such as 'Stay' are the real interest. Louise has wisely chosen to make them a little bit different to suit her vocals, and it really does work. A slow version of 'Stay' is an unexpected highlight.

This more than anything else cements Louise's success, spanning a long career which is full of fantastic singles - 'Changing Faces' is an album that everyone should snap up now.

3 out of 5 stars about one disc's worth of good stuff.......2006-01-05

It was a great idea putting Rod's early solo stuff alongside Faces on a 2-disc anthology... they just didn't do a very good job selecting the songs. You'd be better off with one of Rod's myriad Mercury compilations and Rhino's terrific _Best of Faces_.

And if the "top 500" reviewer below was as smart as his rating, he'd have realized that most of the bum cuts on here are Rod solo, sans Faces (mainly from the slightly overrated _Never a Dull Moment_ and the god-awful _Smiler_).

3 out of 5 stars Good-time band seek funding for binges and palimony.......2005-08-07

I had forgotten why I never bought any Faces albums when they first came out. The recent death of John Peel gave us repeated opportunities to catch that 'Top of the Pops performance' where he mimed on mandolin to a Faces song. As I saw Rod and Ron playing footy on the TotP stage, the reason came back to me: they were party animals, and I was a prog-rocker.

OK, Rod Stewart wrote some classic songs -- notoriously keeping the best for his solo albums -- but I got the frequent impression that the music was not an end in itself for Rod. It was just a vehicle for money, girls, and stardom.

The Faces did yoo many covers -- do we really need a Faces cover of Hendrix's 'Angel'? I think not. A flimsy rendition of the Stones' 'Street Fighting Man' is redeemed only towards the end when a half-decent instrumental breaks through.

But mostly this is about Rod's ego. Goodness knows what the women saw in him. Personally I don't like his voice either. There are six or seven classics on this compilation, but at this import price, I can only give it three stars.

Katie Todd is a clear indie standout. Her music inspires me; she is one of the few artists that renew my faith in music. Katie Todd is the exact opposite music that forced on us on the radio, and that is a good thing. All music on radio must follow the same overused boring pattern (Opening verse, chorus, 2nd verse, chorus, music solo or change of pace verse, closing verse). KT's music gets rid of that pattern. All music on radio must only use the piano for slow songs. KT uses the piano or keyboard in all her songs -- rock and roll has always had a place for the piano.

My favorite song is Tiger. If you don't like being force-fed your music by corporations who only care about profit and not innovation (big labels), then you'll love Katie Todd.
