Sure, Detroit had the MC5 and the Stooges, but Long Island's Kiss threw down their own gauntlet. Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss cleaved a spot between glam, punk, waning Woodstock rock, and adult-oriented pop and became a phenomenon in the process. Kiss kept their music simple and, of course, sexual, with the likes of "Hotter than Hell," "Love Gun," and "Calling Dr. Love," paving the way for the waves of pop-metal sexpot wannabes and winning fans in such quantities that they launched the so-called Kiss Army. Their magnetism permeates this 21-song set, with Criss sounding so lonesome he could cry on "Beth," and the fire-breathing, blood-spitting Simmons unfailingly serving up a comical mix of menace and lasciviousness. The version of "Rock & Roll All Nite" comes from 1975's crowd-noise drenched Alive!, cut at the time when live albums were de rigueur. This collection was made smartly enough that only four songs come from the band's post-Dynasty period, making The Very Best of Kiss an essential primer on 1970s rock grandeur. --Andrew Bartlett

Let Your CD Player Kiss This.......2007-07-09
This KISS compilation is a good record, but not a great one. KISS was a big band in the mid-70s thru early 80s, and this CD gives a good overview of their stuff. Something that keeps this album back is that a lot of the songs, especially in the first half of the disc, sound so much alike, almost just like variants of one song. The good tunes amount to solid rock. Here they are:
Strutter
Detroit Rock City
Calling Dr. Love
Hard Luck Woman - an actual sensitive, acoustic tune from KISS
Christine 16
New York Groove
I Was Made for Lovin You - great song, really moves, lyrics stick in head
Love it Loud - kinda cheesy lyrics, but tune is catchy
Lick it Up - ditto
Forever - ballad from 1990 that's pretty good coming from hard rockers
This album gets stronger toward the end, in large part due to more song variation
a good place to start..........2007-06-04
I generally try to avoid compilations like the plague b/c you will no doubt not get EVERY good song from the band on one disc, however, if i were to own one kiss album and/or was looking for a good place to start to get into the band this is the album i would start with. all the big hits are here that have been played on the radio countless times over the years...strutter, beth, dr love (my fav) detroit rock city, rock n roll all nite, forever, lick it up, hard luck woman, etc. if you like this album then i would venture out a little and see what else is available such as the album creatures of the night (best song war machine) and crazy nights (best song crazy nights) as those songs are not included here.
Another pointless review..........2007-05-19
We need another review of this CD like we need another KISS compilation, i.e. a hole in the head. However, I'll put my two cents worth in (and I'm probably being generous in my monetary evaluation...)
I'm not a "KISS Army" sized KISS fan but I think they have a lot of great songs in their catalog and to compile the best onto a single CD is a task that is certain to miss the mark by most fans' standards. I can see where most of these KISS comps serve a purpose though. DOUBLE PLATINUM is the original KISS "best of" and will never be duplicated or bettered simply because it contains the best loved songs from the band's original incarnation. It's pre-disco, pre-Elder, pre-band member changes, pre-taking off the make-up, pre-Michael Bolton power ballads.
SMASHES, THRASHES & HITS is in another (lower) class all by itself. It attempted to cover the band's entire career by including DOUBLE PLATINUM-era classics, more recent material, some remixes, a re-recording, and some new material. It crashed and burned in all of these areas leaving everyone who was showing any interest completely unsatisfied. The experience of listening to SMASHES, THRASHES & HITS was akin to a groupie making her way to Gene Simmons' dressing room for some serious oral action, only to find Christopher Cross waiting for her inside.
YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU GOT THE BEST was a collection of their best live recordings.
GOLD and the MILLENIUM COLLECTION are just further entries into the record company's ongoing marketing campaign to put visually identical "best of's" in the stores of virtually every artist that ever produced a hit record of any consequence.
So THE VERY BEST OF KISS is the first level headed attempt at a single disc career spanning compilation of KISS' most popular material (including studio and live cuts) and not containing any weird edits, remixes or rerecordings.
Okay, so we've got 21 cuts of hot KISS action.
Does it hit all the high marks? Everyone can probably agree that it doesn't. Seriously, how could it?
What's on here that doesn't belong? What's not on here that is indespensable? Everyone will have their own answers to those last two questions, but I think the compilers did a fairly decent job of cramming one disc chock full of KISS classics.
What's not on here that I would like to see? "Black Diamond", "Do You Love Me", "Shandi", "Sure Know Something", "A World Without Heroes", "I", "Heaven's On Fire", "Tears Are Falling" and Gene Simmons' "Radioactive". But my list has two songs from THE ELDER so I probably deserve to have the KISS Army give me a serious beating.
As far as the greed argument goes, any record company is going to throw out compilations like this (particularly around Christmas time) to capitalize once again on a hit artists' ongoing popularity. It's usually the record company's greed that's evident, not the recording artists'.
So what exactly is the purpose that is being served by THE VERY BEST OF KISS? It replaces SMASHES, THRASHES & HITS which contained an inferior rerecording of "Beth", some awful remixes (whose lame idea was it to tone down the drums on "I Love It Loud"??!!) and new material that should have gone unreleased at the time. (The reviewers here that are bemoaning this compilation's lack of any new material might want to be reminded of "Let's Put The X In Sex", one of the worst songs ever recorded by anyone.) The original hits that weren't remixed for that collection are hampered by inferior remastering (probably not from the original tapes) resulting in poor sound quality.
At any rate, I think there's room for one more KISS collection and this is a pretty darn good one.
Oh, wait. I forgot about GREATEST KISS. Where does that one fit in?
Oh well, never mind.
The Best of the Best of KISS.......2007-03-23
There are certainly a bunch of greatest hits albums by KISS floating around out there, but this one is the BEST of the bunch.
Greatest hits albums aren't made with the die-hard fan in mind, so for those who don't have much or any KISS in their collection, this is a perfect starter CD.
For those of us who are long-time fans, we always feel like every greatest hits CD is missing something we think belongs on there. But when you look over this 21-song set, it's hard to think that there's anything on here that doesn't belong. On top of that, the album flows really well due to the chronological song ordering.
While The Very Best of KISS contains the essential hits like "Detroit Rock City", "Beth", "Shout It Out Loud", "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "I Was Made For Lovin' You", it also manages to cover a the entire career of the band better than other existing compilations. Songs like "I Love It Loud", "New York Groove", "I Stole Your Love" and "God Gave Rock and Roll" are true KISS staples that are often lacking on their other hits CDs.
If a KISS newbie is willing to spend up to $40, you could truly get the very best of KISS by picking up 3 CDs: "KISS Gold", "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Kiss, Vol. 2", and "Revenge". These 3 CDs contain every essential KISS song from 1974 thru 1992 -- including everything found on here.
But for this low price and great song selection, it's really hard to go wrong with The Very Best of KISS.
Explicit Lyrics?!! WTF?.......2007-02-01
What are you people, nuns!? This is a Kiss collection, not Limp Bizkit or Lamb of God, there probably isn't even an a-word mentioned in any of these songs! Stop smoking the weed Amazon!
Good collection, but there is too much 70's and not enough 80's or 90's. Feel greedy, Paul and Gene? Well then make a 2-disc greatest hits, one with their 70's through early 80's and the other with a compilation of their greatest post-Dynasty hits.

It's fair to assume that if you're a Seal fan, you prefer your pop shot through with substance. Using that as a guiding principle, you'll want to glide right into Best: 1991-2004 where you will encounter, throughout two discs and 27 songs, scarcely a second of musical fluff. All the expected goosebump-raisers come on disc one--"Don't Cry" follows "Prayer for the Dying" follows "Kiss from a Rose" follows "Crazy"--and they're interspersed with deeper cuts from Seal IV such as "Get It Together" and "Loves Divine" as well as a couple of covers that, in a lesser vocalist's hands, might have been catastrophic. Seal plays it subtle and sweet and Burt Bacharach's "Walk on By," sidestepping any instinct to belt, and the help he gets from Mikey Dread on Echo & the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar" settles the song into a snazzified reggae-pop celebration. (Also included is Seal's soaring cover of Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle," which proved his prowess as a cover artist with its chart success). Though "best" collections aren't normally upheld for their surprise elements--nobody likes a package that challenges with armloads of new stuff--disc two pulls off a neat stunt. It's a complete acoustic album, again encompassing the major radio hits but stretching to include tracks like the impossibly tender "Touch" and the meltingly gorgeous "Colour." Their unplugged presentation, with the artist on guitar, sets an up-close-and-personal tone that suits Seal. More to the point, it suits his fans, who'll take all the intimacy with the singer-slash-heartthrob they can get. --Tammy La Gorce
Album Description
Multiplatinum selling, Grammy winning, critically acclaimed Seal unveils his first greatest hits collection with Seal Best 1991-2004. But there's even more-along with the single-CD edition, with original album versions of 12 of his hits and best-loved tracks plus a cover song newly recorded by Seal ("Walk on By"), a double-CD package adds a disc of newly recorded acoustic versions of nine of those cuts (and four others). For fans of the pop, dance, urban and adult contemporary, Seal Best 1991-2004 is the quintessential Seal experience.

I love this music!.......2007-07-20
I'm usually buy only R&B, but I decided to try a different type of an artist. I love listening to Seal! His style is cool, unique and very sexy. Definately a Seal fan!
I love love love this guy! .......2007-03-16
This album is one I can play over and over and not get tired of. His music is fun, inspirational, romantic and just beautiful. Highly recommended for those who just want to relax and comtemplate things with a nice sound in background, or turned up loud, it makes you smile and want to dance.
Seal it with a Kiss.......2007-03-11
Nobody does it better. All of Seal's greatest hits in ONE CD. Does it get any better than that?
"Greatest Hits" album could have been "greater".......2007-03-08
I would consider myself among the top 31 (arbitrary number, of course) Seal fans in the known world, and this greatest hits album is dynamic because it's Seal, but could have been better with a few missing songs. "Newborn Friend" is a lesser known hit to those who may not be as well-versed in Seal, and it definitely should have been included. It's one of his finest works and a far cry from "Kiss from a Rose" or "Crazy", his two most well-known hits. Also, a track or two extra from "Human Beings" would have been nice. I'm not sure why Seal seems hell bent on ignoring this album, which I still prefer over Seal IV, for some reason. He doesn't even seem to perform off of it much in concert. I could have done without "Lips Like Sugar", too. It just seems like filler. For what it's worth, though, the acoustic album that comes with the special edition of the greatest hits disc is stellar and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Now how about Seal V?
essential seal.......2007-02-06
if you like Seal, this is a great compilation to add to your collection. always relaxing yet refreshing, I listen to this CD along with music by Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Phil Collins & Peter Gabriel for a nice afternoon of relaxation with my MMOs or RPGs like Sims2.

The "Golden Age" referred to here spans The Jazz Singer and the advent of the talkies to the death throes of the old studio system in the 1960s. So vast was the era's musical landscape that even this 42-track, double-disc anthology can't encompass all its peaks. Not surprisingly, the bulk of this collection originated with the Tiffany's of the screen musical, M-G-M, a body of work whose riches here encompass both pop-cultural bedrock ("Over the Rainbow," "Singin' in the Rain," "There's No Business Like Show Business," etc.) and some less familiar, if equally delightful star turns: Clark Gable gamely "Puttin' On the Ritz"; the sassy, 1948 original of "The Lady Is a Tramp" by Lena Horne; and a loopy duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban. Fred Astaire's elegant, epochal reign at RKO and M-G-M is represented by "Night and Day," "Let's Face the Music and Dance," and three others, while Metro mainstays Gene Kelly and Judy Garland share equal time and billing. It's not perfect--Cagney's "Yankee Doodle Boy" and/or some Sinatra seem more logical choices than the odd "bonus" duet of Casablanca's "As Time Goes By" and "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago that close out disc one--but it's a stunning, surprisingly comprehensive primer on the Hollywood film musical nonetheless. --Jerry McCulley

Everything that happens in life
Can happen in a show
You can make 'em laugh
You can make 'em cry
Anything
Anything can go....
The clown with his pants falling down
Or the dance that's a dream of romance
Or the scene where the villain is mean
That's entertainment!
The lights on the lady in tights
Or the bride with the guy on the side
Or the ball where she gives him her all
That's entertainment!
The plot and the hot simply teeming with $ex
A gay divorcee who is after her ex
It could be Oedipus Rex
Where a chap kills his father
And causes a lot of bother
The clerk who is thrown out of work
By the boss who is thrown for a loss
By the skirt who is doing him dirt
The world is a stage,
The stage is a world of entertainment!
This two CD set amply proves that the musical melodies and lyrics from the golden age of the Hollywood musical remain unsurpassed to this day. This generous two CD set offers 42 incredible songs from Hollywood classic musicals. Most of these fine numbers are indeed from MGM, as Amazon correctly notes; but there are some RKO numbers and even a little from Warner Brothers. Thank goodness, though, that most of these songs came from MGM movies; MGM was the only studio that could boast that it truly had "more stars than there are in the heavens."
I love so many songs on these two CDs. Of course, there's the unforgettable classic "Over The Rainbow" sung by Judy Garland; she also performs "Easter Parade" and "Get Happy" on this two CD set and she carries most of the tune for "I Got Rhythm" even though Mickey Rooney helps her a little. I love "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for its' romantic overtones; and Lena Horne's "The Lady Is A Tramp" is flawless! We also get a rare chance to hear Clark Gable sing in "Puttin' On The Ritz;" and Bing Crosby's "Going Hollywood" may be brief but it's a fun song anyway.
There are two "bonus" tracks on the first CD: "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca and "Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago. "As Time Goes By" is a good choice; it is another unsurpassed classic song that brings back memories and touches even the hardest of hearts. "Lara's Theme," however, is from the mid 1960s and I don't consider this period to be part of the "golden age" of Hollywood musicals.
The liner notes are excellent and they offer wonderful photos of the stars as well. The cover art is well done and the reverse cover art tells which movie each song is from and who is performing each song. Moreover, the quality of the sound is excellent especially when you consider that these numbers were recorded quite a few decades ago.
In short, this superlative two CD highlights the glory of the Hollywood musical when a certain type of sophistication dominated professional movie production. I highly recommend this CD for fans of Hollywood musicals, classic pop vocals and fans of the artists and actors who perform on this two CD set.
One of the best cds I ever bought. .......2006-06-07
What an amazon collection of songs! This is bar none my favorite cd just because of the variety and the quality of songs on it. I love music from this era, and this cd is the perfect companion to my life. Love it! Buy it, you won't regret it for a moment!
Never Sounded Better.......2006-03-16
Apart from the great selection of soundtracks, what really makes this compilation top value is the quality of the sound processing. Executed with finesse, these tracks sound better than when first issued and many are unedited, fuller versions: like "Singing In The Rain", for example. Throw in the great price, and this double disc set is a "must have" for all lovers of classic movie music.

It was once said by the songwriters of that era - "There are two artists you want perform your songs on the big screen, they are Fred Astaire and Judy Garland they sing it just the way we wrote it, for which you will have a guaranteed hit on your hands"...well, this collections certainly has some merit to that statement...because with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire performing seven songs each, there must be something to it.
This collection of musicals still has the magic that we remember from those bygone years...but as long as we have the labels and networks who play and show these wonderful films of yesteryear, they will never be forgotten...hats off to Rhino Records, George Feltenstein (producer) and Doug Schwartz (engineer) and Turner Classic Movies for sharing those 42 selections from 42 films...celebrating decades of the tunes and artists that gave it their all...from what it commonly called "The Hollywood Dream Factory"...The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals is still among us...gotta love it!

The best of Manhattans.......2006-03-13
One of the few bands that could tell you a story in a song
A Lot to Like Here.......2004-12-22
The Manhattans go back to the pre-Beatles (and for the most part the pre-Motown) era so it is not surprising that some of their earlier work such as "I Wanna Be Your Everything" and "One Life to Live" aren't on this compilation. No doubt other record companies were involved in the recording of those songs. There's a lot to enjoy here; even the non-hits are easy to listen to. My sister, a longtime country music fan, heard Blue Lovett do the ...this has got to be the saddest day of my life...opening on "Kiss and Say Goodbye" and made me rewind the tape I had then and replay it over and over on a 90-mile trip to the airport. She had the CD version installed in her bar's juke box. That's the power of the song; it had been almost 20 years since the tune first came out when that happened. And "Shining Star", a truly good love song, is special to me for a 1975 trip my wife and I made as the song was released. Even though those two songs still get preferential play, I enjoy all of their songs here. I recommend this compilation to go with your favorite Chi-Lites CD.
The BEST!.......2003-07-28
Truly one of their finest! Almost every Manhantan song you could possibly want is on this album with one exception "If I Had One Life to Live". I can't seem to find this song anywhere on a Manhattan's CD. They sing a very short version of it on their "Live in South Africa" CD. If anyone knows where I can find this song, PLEASE let me know.
Kiss and Say Goodbye.......2002-09-27
Good music and songs have all been played and sung
The best album.......2001-12-10
This is one of the best, However, I'm still looking for an old one of there's titled "With these hands" which to me is the best. If anyone knows of where I can find it please respond. It's on the Deluxe label DPL12000.

Customer Reviews:
Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

Customer Reviews:
A Nevermind Replacement? Well... kinda.......2007-06-26
Ideally yes, this is better than Nevermind The Bollocks in terms of giving you all the essential Pistols tracks (if you get the imported 20 track version versus the 17 track version). That being said, some change in mastering must have occurred between this and the latest cd release of Bollocks because these tracks sound a little hollow ("tinny") compared to that CD.
Truthfully, the difference is not enough to bother anyone except for more astute or intense fans who are used to the sound of the songs already. So, if you're a newcomer to the Pistols, this is a great start and possibly finish to your collection. If you're already a fan and just want everything in one place, maybe not so much. Plus, it's the edited version of "No Fun", which just sort of cuts off at the end. Wish they would just sell the first disc of the boxed set separately.
Pistols Rock.......2007-06-13
For some unknown reason this band produced some fantastic songs that stand the test of time.Problem is they were not around long enough, and not enough songs were made. Some will argue but to me the songs are inspirational, and can get you fired up.Now their songs do have emotion in them. Its like they realy meant what they said. The best song is Bodies.Yes i know it has not got the geatest lyrics, the subject is unusual to make a song about - abortion. But the way he sings that song, its just amazing and it realy gets to me,and when its finished you have to play it again. That song gets me going in the morning, when you just want to go back to bed.Holidays In The Sun is another great song, man that is a great song. The whole album of Bullocks was a sensation.Pretty Vacant was a hit from Bullocks and is another great song.A track that is missing from here is lonely Boy by Steve Jones. He did the bulk of guitars on Bullocks after Glen Matlock left.Sid did not play too well and hardly did anything on it.He has a tune here called My Way.Great song, hard to follow his accent without the lyrics. He did have another 2 songs not here on the Swindle which could have been put here -Something Else and Come On Everybody. But realy there is the best of them here. Its realy sad Sid died so young, but in reality he didnt contribute that much musicly to them.I have 2 concerts from their American tour in 1978.They were great shows, but you find that you end up milking the well for more Pistols tracks, there simply is not enough.Another favorite song of mine is New York,i love that tune just brilliant. No Feelings and Liar are also great tracks. There is not one bad song here.
The Same Version at Two Prices?.......2007-06-05
Beware that there are two prices for what appears to be the same CD, and both advertise the same track listings on Amazon. I paid $28.99, thinking I would get an expanded version, yet there is a $15.49 price for what appears to be the same CD. The $28.99 product is NOT a two CD set.
I think the merchant needs to clarify what is exactly on both versions and not advertise the same version at two different prices. It's very confusing because the labels are identical. Hence the three stars. Other than that, my version has all my favorites except for "Friggin in the Rigger," but not the extras some customers mentioned. Sound quality could be better; it's a little muffled, but much better than my old cassettes and the nostalgia is well worth it. A great tension releaser/tonic. Don't know if the the $15.49 version is any better, but I don't want to futz with an exchange.
Just more product........2006-09-26
One needs only two Sex Pistols' albums: "Never Mind the Bollocks" and "Rock n Roll Swindle." There's just nothing out there that even remotely resembles the Pistols' version of 'Roadrunner' ("Steve, wait...wait....I don't know the f'n words!") and the pieces by Jones and Cook are excellent, and a great preview of their work together in The Professionals. For those who wish to go deeper, in addition to "Swindle" and "Bollocks," I'd recommend John Lydon's first album with PIL featuring "Religion I & II," ("Fat pig priest, sanctimonious smile...") along with PIL's greatest hits or Metal Box, also any work Lydon did with Leftfield, e.g. "Open Up"; anything by The Professionals is great ("I Didn't See It Coming"), and the soundtrack to 'Sid & Nancy' if only for the atmosphere provided by Pray for Rain and The Pogues. (By the way, if interested, you can probably find a few clips of Steve Jones and The Professionals in action on YouTube. Highly entertaining.)
Sex Pistols - 'Kiss This:The Best Of The.....' (EMI).......2006-06-21
Not only do you get every track here from the notorious clods of British punk's 1977's sole 'proper' record 'Never Mind The Bollocks', but this CD reissue has extra cuts that may not appeal to most anyone but possibly the completists. As always, it's a total scream listening to "Pretty Vacant", "Holidays In The Sun", "Bodies" and "Liar". Twenty songs total, decent compilation.

The Very Best of 80's KISS.......2007-03-23
For a 12-song greatest hits of the 80's CD, this really is a excellent selection of KISS songs. This CD is a testament to how good KISS still was in the 80's when many weren't paying them any attention.
There's no doubt that this CD could have been even better and longer, but the Millennium series CDs are value CDs with a limited amound of songs. In this case, they chose 2 songs from every KISS CD between 1982 and 1989. I really can't dispute any of the selections made for this CD. So for what it is, it's pretty much a perfect compilation of twelve of their best 80's songs.
"Tears Are Falling", "Crazy, Crazy Nights" and "Forever" are great KISS tracks and three of my personal KISS favorites.
For those with a keen ear, you might notice that the two opening selections from the "Creatures of the Night" album are actually taken from the late-80's reissue and remix of the CD and not from version you can currently buy in stores.
Anyhow, I think this album is a great pickup and a PERFECT companion to the "KISS Gold" 2-disc CD set that leaves off right where this CD begins.
80's kiss unmasked, just a sneak peak, Why not fill the disc full?.......2006-11-23
This is the second installment of 3 in the Kiss: mellenium collection. This section covers the 80's Kiss. Great songs included, but its just a taste at the often overlooked kiss years. Yes, kiss was definitley scarier without the makeup, but the music was still good. I just wish this disc had more on it. Oh well, a good starter disc. If you buy this one, you might as well buy the other two for the whole mediocher collection. So much kiss to fit into 3 discs, although all 3 are short and could have included more.
Kiss without makeup were still producing great songs........2006-09-11
There is some pretty good songs here. These wre the days when good old Eric Carr was at the skins.Man did he thump those bongo's to a T.When he was there Kiss had a different sound, and it gave what i think was new life, and a different energetic sound to this band.I quite liked Kiss in the 80's,but i'm as diehard as you get. These days there is nothing new,but reflecting on there old music, its realy good to hear this era of Kiss.
I would of given this Cd 5 stars if it had of had more than 12 songs.
There is lots of songs i could of added to this collection from the same era. They picked 2 songs from each of the albums from Creatures through to Hot In The Shade.
It was a realy good era for music from this band, which battled back after Ace and Peter left as well as removing the make-up.
It appeared that their careers were on the line, but creativity stepped in and this is a partial reflection.
Okay CD, good for starters.......2006-02-20
In my opinion the 20th Century masters were not really masters at finding good KISS songs. But I think people who are just getting into the 80's KISS era would like this one. I like to think of it as a demo, because there should've been more songs
80s kiss.......2005-12-01
This compilation is not getting the attention it should because of so many kiss compilation.first of all this is the only 80s kiss compilation exept the ones released by the band so its a valuable compilation .Second point the compilation is at a very low price 6.99-8$ at wal-mart so its not hurting your wallet and what do you have to lose? The compilation covers from
creatures of the night to hot in the shade, unmasked is not included. It has lick it up,heaven s on fire, hide your heart and more, the 80s kiss is underrated but should be given a try because it aint as bad as somme says .finaly this is a worty compilation the only 80s so give it a chance but,of course you could not like this album or have different opinions hey i just say what i think!
creatures of the night;creatures of the night and i love it loud,(war machine should also be there)
lick it up;lick it up the title track, and all hell`s breaking loose.
anismalize`heaven`s on fire and thrills in the night.
assylium;tears are falling and uh!all night.
crazy nights;crazy crazy nights, and reasons to live.
hot in the shade;hide your heart and the smash hit forever.
missing;songs from unmasked,killers,and the 88 compilation.
go on and give it a try just to hear what 8os kiss sounds like.
