Customer Reviews:
An awesome soundtrack to an awesome game.......2006-09-08
There's only one problem! There AREN'T all the songs from the game! There's a certain song in Kameo that I had stuck in my head weeks after beating it and that's what made me buy the soundtrack. But that song wasn't on it!
I played it again just to make sure I wasn't mistaken, and sure enough, after listening to the soundtrack hundreds of times, and now beating the game a second time, this soundtrack isn't complete.
The soundtrack however, is still fantastic. Go buy it.
Mostly generic fantasy soundtrack.......2006-05-13
Although the sound quality and full orchestration is excellent, Steve Burke's soundtrack to the Xbox 360 game Kameo: Elements of Power ultimately fails to break out of the standard mold of adventure/fantasy game music.
The beginning of the disc is all martial choirs chanting over steady drumbeats and brass; the music is fine for what it is, even well done, but it sounds like any number of other game or film soundtracks (especially those by John Williams) that have come before ("Hero's Theme" in particular sounds a lot like the main theme from the Metal Gear Solid series). Around track 6, the music moves into more ambient, atmospheric territory, and Burke's talent shows through on tracks like "Forest Glade," "A Lament for Solon," and "Ortho's Theme." It's good music, but not great, and by track 20, it's back into too-familiar battle music, right up to the end.
In the context of the game, the soundtrack's limitations may not be as noticeable, as the music takes second stage to the actual gameplay. On its own, though, it can't measure up to the more imaginative work of composers like Jeremy Soule (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Icewind Dale) and Jack Wall (Jade Empire, Myst III).
Incredible!!!.......2005-12-19
One of the best video game soundtracks that I have heard in a long time!!!
This is truly moving music. Some of the tracks on this cd will move your soul! I listen to this frequently, at least once a day, and I am not even growing tired of hearing the swash-buckling theme in "Thorn's Pass", or the fantesy elements in the "Forest Glade".
Another thing that stood out about this soundtrack is that it is orchestrated! Yes, a video game soundtrack that is not overly repeditive, and doesn't sound all synthy. Not to mention it is completely captivating and inthraling! This soundtrack was recorded in Progue with an 80 piece orchestra and a 40 piece choir!
Steve Burke did an absolutely amazing job with his music. You can tell he put lots of love into his production.
To some of you Danny Elfman fans out there, there are some parts of this score that sound like many Danny Elfman themes, but it's not too much like them and it doesn't sound like Steve Burke was trying to copy anyone with this music.
Songs like "Elemental Warriors" sound like themes from "Edward Scissorhands" or "A Nightmare Before Christmas", at a point "Forest Glade" it sounds a bit like the main theme to "Edward Scissorhands". "The Snow Tribe" sound like a John Williams inspired musical piece from the original STAR WARS trilogy or something.
If you buy this soundtrack, you won't be sorry at all! Any fan of video game scores, Kameo: Elements of Power, or just any fan of good music shouldn't be without this wondeful piece of music!

dark
Fantastic Score!.......2005-12-03
I just started listening to the Kameo score and I really like it. It is great for backround music, some tracks are very soothing while the others are more intense. I hope Burke keeps these albums going, because I love what he did with Kameo!
Thanks Steven Burke!.......2005-11-25
This is an epic soundtrack. Has a great classical feel to it. Hero music all the way. Check this out for the music alone. Not your run of the mill video game music.
