Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com essential recording
One of Stevie Wonder's best albums, and the one where his more fanciful, free-form moments gel perfectly with his knack for irresistible pop singles, 1973's Innervisions swings between delicate and airy ballads, Latin-influenced rhythms (the hit "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing"), and his own synth-heavy versions of gut-bucket soul (the determined spiritual questing of "Higher Ground"). The striking juxtaposition between "Vision," a barely breathed hope that a world of peace might be upon us, and the great "Living for the City," a funky, pulsing tale of racism, is powerful, haunting, and still all too relevant. --David Cantwell

This is as goods as music gets.......2007-07-14
I cant tell you how much I enjoy this Cd. Stevie Wonders masterpiece is a cd that we are still talking about over 30 years later. I cant not think of a cd that expresses so many different emotions. If you dont have this cd, shame on you
A classic from one of Motown's frontmen.......2007-03-12
Since this is a very old album by now, if you listen it for the first time it could sound a little bit "out-of-time". However "Innervisions" is a key album to appreciate Stevie Wonder in the peak of his greatest performances. A 'must-have' for every 70s Soul fanatic collector!
something we forgot.......2007-02-22
Everyone seems to forget Stevie got 3 Best album Grammys:
Album of the Year: Innervisions- 1973
Album of the Year: Fulfillingness' First Finale- 1974
Album of the Year: Songs in the Key of Life- 1976
The one they left out was Talking Book. Stevie's lagacy was built between 72-76. He dominated the popular sound to the point where all young singers attempted to mimick his sound into the 90's. I don't think any other performer had such a profound influence on soul music of the 70's except the James Brown rhythm section, which went on to back Parliament/Funkadelic and pretty much started the Disco revolution.
Stevie at his best.......2007-02-06
This album is mind-blowingly good. Not much else to say beyond that!
Innervisions.......2007-01-16
This is a Stevie Wonder album I have grown up with and have long searched for the CD version. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find it on [...] along with so many other items I have been searching for more several years. Thanks [...]. You have made my day.

Genre transcendent, this has to be among the best works of art ever. Time transcendent, this work awakens the spirit of every great composer past, present and future.
...His Innervisions Make The World Of Music Better.......2006-01-03
This is my First Stevie Wonder album I got and WOW amazing. This album has a great opening track with a funky groove and a harmonica solo bridge. (We all know Stevie is making birds sing when he's playing that harmonica).
The second track has a slower feel and clocks in at 5 minutes where Stevie now sings about the visions in his mind. It has a great jazzy guitar feel, and do I hear a harp in there?
#3 on this album is the real focal point of the recording. Where the 8th Wonder of the world tells a story of a young boy in the heart of Mississippi and has two hard working parents who make just enough to live in the city. With a closing social commentary towards the end.
Track four is one of my favorites on the album it has a light, joyous chorus. And a short, tickling keyboard after it is sang.
The fifth addition to the album is super funky. I can just see Stevie's fingers moving like spaghetti noodles in the wind to make the sound. And like almost every Stevie track, it has killer drums.
Number 6 on our list: Jesus Children Of America has great vocals with the pitch of them going up and down like a pogo stick.
Lucky number Seven is a solid piece of work and is 'all fair' enough to make it a great ballad. (A must for any Stevie album, they are always there). Good piano.
My favorite number: 8! And also my favorite song on the album. How about that? Great harmony and I dont know what is going on at the beginnning of the piece when he is talking in spainish to a woman. But besides that, it does have a Mexican twist to it and the song never fails to keep you listening.
Last but not least, "He's misstra-know it all". Good closing song for this work of art. dont know what really to say about it.
A Stevie Masterpiece, if you are looking for different creative sounds and stunning combinations of musical instruments or you want to expand your music listening field, buy this epic. You have to listen to it only one time to get hooked on the 8th Wonders' INNERVISIONS.
Just awesome........2004-04-12
An incredible melange of gutsy soul, R&B, and jazzy mood music. I had been only marginally aware of Stevie Wonder through his crossover hits on FM rock radio (two of which are on this disc), but I had no concept of what a brilliant artist he is. Through the years my tastes have grown to include a liking for jazz, and the jazz influence here is unique.
A Classic.......2001-11-09
This is one of many classic albums Stevie put out in the 70's. His voice, instrumentation, and imagination were all at the very peak of their abilities. This is a great album for singles, but is best when consumed all at once (I suggest sparking a (...), putting on your headphones, and closing your eyes). If you enjoy soul music, or have any liking for quality recordings, this album is a must-have, so get it now, you'll love it! It's so good, writing about it makes me wanna go listen to it right now! I think I will!
Deep thoughts.............2001-05-02
This album is actually one of the greatest of all time. Stevie Wonder created a masterpiece with 'Innervisions'. This album is one you can listen to all the way through- there are no filler songs on this one. All of the songs have meaning, rhythm, groove and life.
"Too High" tackles the problem of drug use, while "All In Love Is Fair", deals with the subject of heartbreak, and "He's Misstra Know-It-All"... loud talkers and schemers. "Jesus Children of America" is a groovy joint, with a beautiful message- Jesus loves you, get to know Him, and be honest with Him. "Visions" is a beautiful piece, which talks about looking at things beyond what the eye can see, but by the way the mind sees things; a real mind excursion. Listening to this one makes you wonder if Stevie sees things clearer than we do.
My all time favorites on this one are, "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" (which has a salsa flare, and a message about people with hang-ups, trying to be things that they're not), and "Golden Lady" (a song which is designed to make any woman feel special, and puts you in a mellow mood). "Living For The City", and "Higher Ground" are the most powerful songs on this disk, but "Living For The City" contains that famous line, "Wow...New York City, just the way I pictured it; skyscrapa's and ev'rythang"! What a classic!
This is a music lover's dream. A disk with melodies, good lyrics, and full of real life. Stevie Wonder is an inspiration to all those who hear his message, and will continue to be until the end of time.

Album Description
In
Kyori: Innervisions, Japan's ancient musical traditions are shaded with Western tones and influences. The result is a resonant, rhythmical and mysterious confluence of cultures.
The man whose innervisions come to life on this recording is
Masakazu Yoshizawa. His desire was to blend the best of his own Japanese cultural roots with the best of the Eastern-style musical conventions in which he was educated. He succeeds beautifully, combining traditional themes and instruments in an arrestingly modern style. Yoshizawa who is a composer as well as a performer, plays the shakuhachi (bamboo flute). Two of the pieces are his intriguing solo compositions, one titled Conceptualism (Johakyu) and the other Mainstreams to Oneness (Kawai). Two other titles are fascinating ensemble pieces, Immortality (Fuma) and Divine Silhouettes (Yogo). For these, Yoshizawa brought in
Osamu Kitajima to play acoustic guitar, koto and biwa, and
Geoffrey Hales to play percussion. Once again, Yoshizawa aims to blend Japanese sensibility with Western idioms.
With
Kyori: Innervisions, Masakazu Yoshizawa creates fresh and innovative music using traditional Japanese instruments. The result is a dramatic atmosphere of movement and mystery, shadow and light.

This CD has such a variety of music from somewhat traditional songs like "He is God" to contemporary jams like "We Give You Praise." Finally the slow melodic ministry of "Restore" will bless your heart. The students that worked on this CD definitely gave God an Unconditional Praise that will mininster to many across this country. You deserve to buy this product and be blessed by students from the University of Texas Innervisions Gospel Choir.

Simply Brilliant! Too Bad About the Sound Quality Though!.......2006-04-24
This together with "Songs In the Key of Life" have got to be among the best ever albums of all time let alone the best that Stevie has ever done. Every track on this album is a gem from the super cool opening track, "Too High", to the social statements of "Living For the City" to the excellent "Higher Ground", the heart-wrenching "All In Love is Fair" to "Don't You Worry About a Thing" and ending with "He's Misstra Know-It-All", we get track after track of some of the best ever music ever recorded.
This version comes in a mini-lp sleeve design which also has all the lyrics in Japanese as a booklet insert. Too bad the English lyrics are printed so fine on the gatefold sleeve cardboard covers that you'd need a magnifying glass to read them. Otherwise, the design is very nice indeed; however, the sound quality although good is not great for what you'd expect from a remastered cd. I wonder how much of this is due to a poorly preserved master tape but this cd is still worth getting as I've heard cds with a lot worse sound quality out there.
Fans of good soul and of Stevie's early sound just have to get this for their sonic library. Highly recommended!
