Jeff Beck is definately one of the greatest guitar gods ever, and he definately proves this here his riffs are hard hitting and his solos are fast and brilliant. However, one thing this album does not succeed in is giving a musical experience. Most of the songs are hard rocking but steady giving a heavy load kind of feel and the softer songs are less spectacular because of the mechanical keyboad "orchestras" backing jeff up.

Amazing playing, but if you want a musical experience check out Blow by Blow or Wired

Five Stars are not Enough!!.......2007-06-27

From the holy trinity of Beck, Clapton, and Page; this work has to be considered among the best of the best. A must for any fan of the three. Beck's best by far.

Technically flawless, but..........2007-05-10

Jeff Beck is often compared to his two fellow Yardbird alumni, Messrs Clapton and Page and frequently gets (deserved)credit for having surpassed them in his vision of what a guitar can do. While I'm not familiar enough with Page's work, other than the better known Led Zep material, to speak to his accomplishments, I'd have to say that Clapton, at least as it appears, has deepened in ways not evident on Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop. Sure, there are great grooves and intense playing and of course, amazing guitar solos. But the auto garage metaphor here works more than perhaps the musicians knew. The album is mostly pure, metallic testosterone. Barely any subtlety or warmth. Big, powerful and unapologetically beefy, Guitar Shop is an engaging disc but you're more likely to sit in wide-eyed appreciation of it than be moved or touched by it. It's shiny, but cold. Want to hear Jeff Beck more in touch with his "feminine side?" Check out his recent duet with Kelly Clarkson that aired on the American Idol charity benefit (available on itunes). He's restrained, sensitive and lyrical. And almost 20 years older!

Another gem from the the Dalai Lama of the guitar!.......2006-09-04

You can't go wrong with a trio as versatile and talented as Beck, Bozzio and Hymas. "Behind the veil" is worth the price of admission alone. Also "Savoy" and "Two Rivers". Let's face it. This guy is the best. Noel Redding (Hendrix's late bassist) confessed in an interview that Beck was his favorite. Heck, you needn't interview me for me to say the same. My favorite album of his is "You had it coming". If you're in doubt, go with that CD. And do consider "Who else". In my opinion "You had it coming" is his best. Oops, did I neglect to mention "Blow by blow" and "Beck-Ola"? Excellent illustrations of his outstanding talent.

Hard, metallic, and rough.......2006-04-26

I really like this album, but I am not sure it is quite a 5 star classic. Released in 1989, the CD is 39 minutes long and the sound quality is very good.

The great thing about Jeff Beck is that he is always experimenting and pushing the boundaries. The difficult thing is that you never know what you are going to get with a Jeff Beck CD. You might love one of his styles and hate his others. Many people who like Beck's pop music (especially the days he was with Rod Stewart) or his jazz fusion, hate this CD.

This is a trio of Beck, Terry Bozzio (from Frank Zappa and Missing Persons) and keyboardist Tony Hymas. The music has a very hard and rough edge to it, but it isn't heavy metal or hard rock.

There are vocals on two tracks, but it isn't singing. It is like a manic rap. It is strange and very addictive. It is similar to the ending of the Tube's What Do You Want From Life.

Like Beck's Rough and Ready and Blow By Blow, I find the music very atmospheric and absorbing. It is the type than can transport you to a different reality where you completely lose yourself in the music. Your head is spinning when the CD is over.

I can't quite give this 5 stars. There are some sensational tracks, such as the "vocals" Guitar Shop and A Day in the House. The tracks in the middle are also very stunning, getting the most of the keyboard and guitar interaction. But, some tracks are just merely good. Two Rivers is a just mundate New Age type jazz number. Behind the Veil and Sling Shot are fusion type numbers that Beck has done much better in the past.

If you like this, you have to get Jeff Beck Live at BB King's.

If you want to try something along the same lines but a little more melodic but spacy, with longer compositions, check out Francis Monkman Jam.

He Needs Stronger Material.......2006-04-18

Tony Terry can blow his head off, but the problem is that this cd lacked hits. 2 out of 9 tracks is terrible. The man deserves better material than that. I would love for him to work with Babyface, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, & R. Kelly. He has a voice that should be making platinum, not lackluster crap.
With You And Everlasting Love are the only two songs that I really appreciate. Oh, wait, I also love Come Home With Me!

He should be dropping hits, not s***!

You won't believe this, but I saw Tony Terry perform with Roberta Flack on Martha Stewart's TV talk show this week. It proves that he's still out there today. Singing with Roberta a classic star in her own right! Which brings me back to this review. Terry's 1990 album is solid R&B at its finest. He had such a beautiful song in With You, a wedding favorite and a well sung classic that stayed on the music charts for 40 weeks or so in 1991. The other numbers are such dynamic songs with Terry singing so superbly. I suggest you get this album soon!

I've been having this album for several years now...I fell in love with Tony Terry's music after I heard him sing I believe it was on Soul Train yeeeeeeeeeears ago! His voice is so perfect-sounding to me...he's definitely been blessed with a annointed talent --- I think he needs to come out with a soul-reaching Gospel cd.....that would probably be the Gospel album of the year! This album offers beautiful love ballads & timeless songs that have never been replaced since the album's release!!!

This is a wonderful CD. I actually wanted it for the song, When A Man Cries, and recieved a bonus. The entire CD is really great. My only regret is I just got the CD, I should have brought it when it was released years ago. Purchase this CD and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

When I first aquired this tape in 1994 I was very impressed with Tony's vocals and he is an awesome performer. I have been a lover and a fan of his music for a very very very very long time and his cd entitled heart of man does nothing but adds to his credits.The tracks on this cd shows another side of men in general and shows there is hope for the male species yet. I recommend this cd to everyone that is a lover of good sounding,good feeling music. You will be very impressed with this cd.

I originally purchased this product when it was released on audiotape. While cleaning around the house, I decided to play some old tapes and pulled out "Heart of a Man." I had forgotten that I was a Tony Terry fan, but when I listened to that tape, I remembered why. The man was an excellent singer and performer, and the songs on that tape had substance. (I also just discovered through this website that he recently released a new CD this past summer.) It's unfortuntate that none of his work has been been marketed properly; I'm sure that many more people would appreciate what he has to offer. I am placing my order for "Heart of a Man"-the CD, and his new release (without ever hearing a track) on my Wish List.

I've had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Tony several times and his performances are equally incredible. This CD I think and it's my personal opinion that he has definitely evolved from the lovey dovey days. Only in the studio does he hold back because this brother has brilliantly honed-vocals. I think he gives more heart and soul to his personal rendition of Meet Me in the Shower. I look forward to his next CD.

When I first heard In My Heart, I almost cried. I had to find the song and it took my forever to get the title of the song right. Tony Terry has my heart...I know I'm young, but he has been making hits since day one. I love his voice.

I red the previous review. I too was a fan of Mr. Terry's from "back in the day". Loved his style, loved his voice. (Okay, so he's cute too. Sue me.)

I'd missed his voice over the years and had wondered what he was doing with himself and his talent. And, over the years, I started, and am still on, a journey coming closer to my Lord and savior - and surprise, surprise!! I found out Mr. Terry apparently has been doing the same thing.

It is just so cool and so uplifting when artists realize that truly, their gift is from God, and that they need to not only thank Him for it, but praise Him with it. And I am so glad to see that Mr. Terry is doing just that - with some seriously jamming tunes!! Nobody said praise had to be boring.

Thank you, Mr. Terry, and God bless. Keep on doin' what you're doin'. You have a lot of old fans that are glad to see you back, and you'll gain a lot of new fans I'm sure. And you might just mess around and convert some of your old fans to New Creatures. (hallelujah!!)

Be warned: Not for the real opera lover, however, this CD gets played more often than some of my operatic sets!

this is your typical new age style album. Nothing innovative or ground breaking. Overall, a good above par work. Better then most. Just lacks the originality of a few other artists.

Wonderful Album.......2002-02-09

This is by far the most played album in my collection. It has a wonderful melencholic depressive sound with a tasteful percussion. If you follow the lyrics, each track has a separate story that when put together make a complete story, that almost has to be planned, although nothing in the album indicates that Paul Schwartz intended it that way.
This is a truly wonderful album and I suggest it for anyone who likes new age or classical, or who has a depressive streak in their personality.

My favorite album.......2002-02-09

I've been a long time fan of Enya and Yani type music, and am always on the scout for a good album of mood music. I heard Aria 2 while browsing a curiosity shop in Downtown Disney and fell in love. I highly suggest this for anyone who likes a melencholy sound mixed with a nice percussion part.

I have not yet heard this CD. I have all the other's in the Cafe Del Mar series and they are the BEST!! Truly enjoyable music.

An underappreciated artist with alot of talent.......2001-03-03

There are certainly more than a few 5 star cuts on this disc but there's enough avgerage or sub par music to bring down the overall rating. Lovey Dovey, She's Fly, Forevery Yours, and Here with Me all rate those 5 stars. Day Dreaming probably gets 4 1/2 stars and the other cuts are hardly worth mentioning. But on this album Tony shows how much talent he really has as both a balladeer and a groovin' artist.

Definitely a purchase but there's a few cuts that I wouldn't miss if they were cut.
