A vibrant tribute to MGM's legendary confluence of brains, talent, hard work, ambition--and dare we say it?--massive egos, Singin' in the Rain long ago took its rightful place among the first rank of the studio's dizzying catalog of film musicals. This double-disc, 46-track 50th-anniversary edition features all of the film's familiar songs, as well as numerous outtakes and extended versions, many culled directly from the film's original recording masters. Its second disc also chronicles the film's clever--if studio imposed--self-referential musical gambit of recycling a slate of Arthur Freed/Nacio Herb Brown songs from Metro's first decade by including 14 of the originals, including performances by Jeanette McDonald, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, and Freed himself. Featuring a dozen previously unreleased recordings and an illustrated booklet containing the insightful reminiscences of the film's original writers, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, it's the ultimate musical companion to one of cinema's magical, enduring masterpieces. --Jerry McCulley

Customer Reviews:
the perfect movie.......2007-03-10
My old Gene did it: the perfect movie, the perfect american history, the perfect music. Some people think musicals are "B" movies. I say them: look about the dream, the performance, the music.
Who can say what is beatiful? Look at faces of Gene and Stan during the shooting on the set: whole concentration and attention for everything.
This is a unique moment in their story, and in the story of cinema.
Unforgettable.
I LOVE MY FAVORITE SONG, AND THANKS TO THIS CD I CAN LISTEN TO IT ALL DAY LONG!!.......2007-01-28
I love Singin' in the Rain. It was the movie that made me like musicals, not those simple, mellow movies like South Pacific and the Sound of Music, but REAL musicals, with people like Fred Astaire or Eleanor Powell tapping their hearts out, or great singers like Frances Langford or Dick Powell putting over a song like they mean it.The Singin' in the Rain 2disc special edition introduced me to my favorite movie, the Broadway Melody of 1936, the MOST AMAZING MOVIE EVER! So I was so glad when my parents got me the soundtrack to Singin' in the Rain, and besides the music of the 1951 versions of the Nacio Herb Brown/Arthur Freed, there are also the original versions of the songs in their original movies. I am so glad that Rhino put the duet of Robert Taylor and June Knight singing I've Got a Feelin' You're Foolin' on this CD set! It's my favorite song, and now I can listen to it! Hooray!! It's the best song EVER!! There's also vocals of Charles King singing the Broadway Melody, which is great! And many more, like Bing Crosby, Frances Langford, Jeanette MacDonald, and other great singers I can't think of right now. This CD set is great, the sound is nice and un-staticy (mostly), there are 30-plus songs, and the price is phenomenal. I love my favorite song, and now I can listen to it all day long!! Yay! :)
Wonderful Soundtrack to a Wonderful Movie.......2006-06-16
Yes, this is it--the first real musical I ever saw. Okay, I saw "Wizard of Oz" and "The Sound of Music", and I love both of those musicals dearly. I had even seen "My Fair Lady." I thought musicals were all like those. Until this one. I had never seen such dancing. And this CD causes me to relive the joy of the musical each time I listen to it. Complete with the tap sounds. I love that they included even the deleted songs. Now we just need a DVD that has all the deleted scenes in context. But the studio probably threw all those away. Oh well, our imaginations can take care of what is missing.
Great CD.......2006-03-20
This is a great CD of music for your family to listen to. Our family enjoys it very much.
musical memories.......2006-03-14
I enjoyed this CD very much, as I remember seeing the movie years ago. I grew up watching MGM musicals and this was one of the best. I loved all of the wonderful songs that came from this movie. Great sound on this CD.

Album Description
Full title - I've Got a Baaad Feelin' About This, The Complete Recordings. 1995 debut album from the garage inspired punk act featuring Mick Collins (Gories, Dirtbombs), now expanded with 12 more tracks that are all cover versions. 26 tracks. In The Red. 2003.
Customer Reviews:
From The Gories To The Dirtbombs, It's Blacktop All The Way.......2007-02-12
For fans of the bottomless genius well that is Mick Collins and who are familiar with his more well-known work (that's an oxymoron), this is the undisputable summary presented by yours truly -
Blacktop is:
a little more agressive than The Dirtbombs
a little less boogie than The Gories
and a good idea of what The Screws would eventually sound like.
The sound clips say it all - I just had to put it into words. Now, if you will excuse me, it's time to search for some King Sound Quartet. Rock off.
I've got a great feelin' about this. Get it?.......2005-05-06
The holy grail of garage. Mick Collins should be President of the United States. If you don't own this record, you have serious issues. Are you having troubles in yer personal life? Best Record of the 90's. Do yourself a flavor
Another Great Darin Lin Wood Creation.......2004-06-24
For those searchers who really want to comprehend what would happen if Hank Williams blended with Keith Levene this is a start, and for those who realize that the White Stripes ripped off a movement started in the early 80s by copulating Punk with Western, outlaw, "country" sounds this is a proof; Gun Club, 68 Comeback, Royal Trux/(...) Galore, Acetone, Fireworks, Jackknife,
and many others all are in league with what appears on this album. What's sad is that Blacktop's best moments were live, and that material remains hard to get. But this album is well worth having.
Also, don't be misled: DARIN WOOD was the force behind Blacktop more than Mr. Mick, who to this day refuses to credit Wood for songs that DARIN WOOD wrote, and for guitar sounds which Darrin Wood invented and perfected; Mick Collins takes the easy way out in our now fascistic culture and blames Wood's drug use for the implosion of the band, and excuses his own pettiness by demonizing drug-use; like most people these days, Mr. Collins
does not think over what a "free country" might actually mean and entail, whether geo-politically or in a rehearsal room, but in this he's just an average citizen; yet the work both guitarists did is here for all to rock and swing to; Darin Wood's talent shows in the other bands he either founded or improved: Fireworks, Jackknife, Cat Fur, etc. Collins went on to do some great work with THE SCREWS.
Fireworks best album however is the intense LIT UP, which Darin Wood himself still has about 100 copies left the the original run, and can be gotten for $15 at 15 shoal dr./CDM, CA 92625; these copies were just given over by the label in Dallas and are only available via the artist himself.
Mick's Best Ever.......2004-02-17
Blacktop's complete recordings CD, I Got A Baaad Feelin' About This, is my all time favorite Mick Collins musical venture. It's so angry and noisy compared to anything else Mr. Collins has done before or since. Janet Walker's drums are simple yet they never come off sloppy. Alex Cuervo's Bass lines tie in with Janet's drums so well, you almost miss them. And Darin Lin Wood's distored guitar riffs blend perfectly with Mick's sheet metal noise fest. This Cd is just great, there's not a bad tune on the entire disc.
Highlights include: the rockin' "Blazing Street" the outstanding cover of Captain Beefheart's "Here I Am I Always Am" and Darin Lin Woods' take on the traditional "The Grave"
I'd pick BLACKTOP over the GORIES or FIREWORKS anyday, but not '68 Comeback, I'm too big of a Jeff Evans fan. But if this kind of music is up your alley BLACKTOP will do fine.
"BABY, PLEASE DON"T TAKE MY LOVE IN VAIN!"
While your out shopping pick up some: Pussy Galore, Gories, Cheater Slicks, Gibson Bros, Bassholes, 68 Comeback, Doo Rag, Oblivians, Compulsive Gamblers, Bob Log III, Immortal Lee County Killers, Wednesdays, Quadrajets, Bantam Rooster, Drags, Demolition Doll Rods, Husbands, King Louie One-Man Band, Supercharger, Cool Jerks, Tearjerkers, and Royal Trux!

Album Description
Big Maybelle's mountainous stature matched the sheer soulful power of her massive vocal talent. Her deep, gravelly voice was as singular as her many hits for Okeh and Savoy, which ranged from down-in-the-alley blues to pop-slanted ballads. This compilation offers the very best of Big Maybelle¹s rhythm and blues recordings from the 1950's and includes all of her chart hits from that decade. Backed by the great bands of Leroy Kirkland, Danny Mendelsohn, Quincy Jones, Kelly Owens and Alan Freed which, if you look closely, are basically all drawn from the same pool of peerless New York session musicians; this is powerful stuff indeed! Cherry Red. 2007.

The All-Time Greatest!.......2007-03-10
Simply put, this is probably one of James Brown's all-time greatest, most consistently hot and funky records that he ever put out, and sadly not even available in the US on CD, only on Japanese Import. Highly recommended! Order this CD right away. You will not be disappointed, fan or not. If not, you will be.
