Scott Hamilton, January 1, 2003
This show was a dream come true. Enjoy this music. I know I will forever"
Product Description
In August of 2002, Olympic Gold medal Figure Skater, Scott Hamilton asked one of his favorite bands for the last twenty years to provide all the music live for his NBC TV Special entitled, Scott Hamilton & Friends". This CD is the soundtrack to that TV show. It was the first time a Soul band played all the music live for an ice show like this. The band was tight and the energy was high. Scott also asked his good friend, Susan Anton, to join in. The chemistry between Susan and the band is evident on her five tracks. The skaters loved it, the band had a ball, the audience went crazy and for Scott it was a dream he had for many years, come true. This show was only performed once on October 22, 2002 Live at the First Union Center in Philadelphia, PA. It aired on dec. 14th 2002. here it is, preserved on CD for you to enjoy.

Album Description
Since his debut album, released to considerable critical acclaim in 1977 on Concord Jazz, Scott Hamilton (b. 1954) has established himself as one our foremost tenor saxophone balladeers, one with a keen ear for indelible first-rate tunes. With Nocturnes and Serenades, his forty-first Concord Jazz disc as a leader or co-leader, Hamilton's balladry takes center stage, and with sublime results. Eight of the ten performances herein are ballads (the medium-tempo exceptions are "Flamingo" and "By the River Sainte Marie"), and Hamilton's aged-in-oaken-casks approach has never been warmer or more full-bodied. Now residing in England, the Providence, RI native is backed by his regular touring rhythm section; their empathetic support is at once unobtrusive and in-the-moment. Early in his career it was observed that Hamilton's sound and conception channeled those of giants Ben Webster and Zoot Sims. But on Nocturnes and Serenades it's the soul of Scott Hamilton that comes to the fore. And he builds a "Chelsea Bridge" that is every bit on a scale with that of Webster, its previous master architect.

Great for massage therapy and yoga class.......2007-07-13
If you're searching for a mellow, mellifluous, lyrical, tranquil jazz CD, this is it! As a massage therapist and yoga instructor, I am constantly searching for good mood music for my clients and students. This one will undoubtedly become an enduring favorite in my collection of soothing and sensual ambiance music. I have received more (unsolicited) favorable comments from clients about this CD than any other I have played in the last ten years. Enjoy.
Another Scott Hamilton Hit.......2007-05-01
Scott Hamilton is like wine. He gets better with age. Lovely melodies in tenor saxophone. The classics like Chelsea Bridge is reason enough to buy this album. A great album no doubt. Buy it now!
Nocturnal vibes........2007-03-13
There are many reasons to love the wonderful tenor saxophone playing of American jazz star Scott Hamilton, but his gorgeous, velvet tone and exquisite lyricism are probably best showcased on ballads, which is why this collection is such a winner.
It's a rare treat to hear an album which conjures up one particular mood and functions like a suite of music, but Hamilton and his trio establish a late-night, seductive vibe with the soulful opener, 'Man With A Horn', and keep it going throughout.
Late night sounds.......2006-11-27
From the first slur on the wonderful "Man with a Horn" Scott Hamilton fans are in for a great treat of pure Hamilton lush tones.Call your girlfriend, turn down the lights, this is romance time music. Scott takes a page from his protege ,Harry Allen who has producted to great highly successful cd's with the new jazz label "mcmahon jazzmedicine", "Jazz for the soul and Jazz for the heart,"which are all Ballad albums.Scott plays 8 ballads here which are 8 of his best. All Scotts cd's are available at [...]
Scott Hamilton continues to impress.......2006-11-06
Ever since he began recording for the late Carl Jefferson's Concord Jazz label in the 1970s, Scott Hamilton has been one of the premier tenor sax men in jazz. He plays with a masculine tone and with the melodic line of a modern-day Ben Webster, and the listener can always follow that melodic line thoughout his improvisations, which are always a joy to hear. Unlike too many sax players today, who seem to think that their efforts can best be displayed by the number of notes they can fit into a measure with the greatest speed, Hamilton does not "over play" his music.
With Hamilton joined here with an excellent rhythm section, this latest CD continues the long line of great music that he has produced over the past 30 years. After listening to this, go buy all of his other CDs, and don't forget all those great recordings he did for Concord Jazz with Rosemary Clooney.

The musical line leading up to tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton is not confusing. He wears his influences on his sleeve. You hear Lester Young's phrasing, Ben Webster's languid tone, and more than a dash of Zoot Sims's overall presentation. And while 1989's Scott Hamilton Plays Ballads is a gorgeous showing off of these influences, Ballad Essentials is a magnificent overview of his smoldering command of the genre. There's a pair of tracks from Plays Ballads ("In a Sentimental Mood" played as limber, late-night swing and "Round Midnight" given a robust, big-hearted embrace) and a pair from With Strings. The other eight pieces come from all over Hamilton's catalog, and describing any particular tune would tax the vocabulary--"aching" and "tender" have only so many synonyms. Hamilton's sense of swing is easy to love, as is his brawny tone--even when it slips into whispering mode. Ballad Essentials is meant as a themed collection, and it not only succeeds as such, it also serves as a primer for Hamilton's whole output. --Andrew Bartlett

A cd worthy of 5 stars.......2001-12-28
I shall not waste your valuable time with an analysis of this cd. Other reviews exist with which I am in agreement and these reviews detail the merits of Hamilton's work with far more eloquence than I could achieve.
Ballad Essentials is a wonderful and marvelous cd. Hamilton's saxaphone is smooth and flowing. The songs are basically romantic. This cd is ideal for a romantic and/or relaxing evening. One of the best Jazz cd's I have ever heard for such occasions. Highly do I recommend Scott Hamilton's Ballad Essentials.
"beautiful tones is music-to-the-ears via Hamilton".......2001-01-28
This talented artist began playing at the age 16 and developed quickly, moved to New York in 1976. Played with Benny Goodman in the late '70s, also with such greats as Warren Vache, Ruby Braff, Rosemary Clooney and the Concord-Jazz All-Stars, recording a long string of performances for Concord that are not able for their consistency of outstanding jazz.
Scott Hamilton has appeared on more than 60 Concord releases during the past 22 years, a master of the swing, butmore not able are his beautiful tones which appear on these dozen collections from - "Scott Hamilton Is A Good Wind Who Is Blowing Us No Ill" (CCD-4042)(1977), "Scott Hamilton 2" (CCD4061)(1978), "Tenorshoes" (CCD-4127)(1979), "The Right Time" (CCD-4311)(1986), "Scott Hamilton Plays The Ballads" (CCD-4386)(1989), "Radio City"(CCD-4428)(1990), "Scott Hamilton With Strings"(CCD-4538)(1992), "East Of The Sun" (CCD-4583)(1993) and"My Romance" (CCD-4710)(1995), is just the tip of the iceberg.
Of course there are stand outs - "MY FOOLISHHEART" the classic Ned Washington and Victor Young composition performed by Alan Broadbent (piano, musical director, arranger andconductor) and a trans-fixing solo by Hamilton, you just want it to go on and on..."IN A SENTIMENTAL MOOD" smooth and haunting Duke Ellington tune, Scott makes this one his own, you find yourself drifting in a musical journey with just a peaceful existence.
But the highlight is - "TONIGHT I SHALL SLEEP WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE" another Ellington tune, shades of the Jackie Gleason presents arrangements from "Music For Lovers Only", only this time we have Scott Hamilton to put the icing on the cake.Concord once again shares the warmth and wonderful moments from their vaults of never-to-be-forgotten classic sounds of JAZZ!

Great for creating a romantic mood!.......2000-12-09
This CD will definitely put you in a mellow mood. It is very relaxing throughout each track. All of the songs are slow and smooth. You don't listen to two or three slow songs and then suddenly a fast upbeat song that catches you off guard. It's great to curl up to with a cup of hot chocolate or glass of your favorite wine and the one you love.
This cd should be titled the "Best Of Scott Hamilton".......2000-11-28
What a thrill it was for me to buy this cd. It has 12 tracks on it from 12 different cd projects. It re-opened my eyes to what Scott had available of his music. I am sure I will want to order more products by him based on this cd.
On this cd Scott plays nothing but pure ballads. This is my favorite kind of song. I can't seem to get enough of this romantic music. For the most part I liked what Scott did with this project. However, I did hear a few songs that I didn't paticulary like. All in all, I liked this cd and hope others will feel like wise.
The true ballad album........2000-06-01
This is my first Scott Hamilton Cd.I didn't know much about this guy until I heard him in a music store.Wow!he is a real gentleman who play great ballads. He got the warmest and most beautiful subtones that anyone can get.His tone is full of lust and romance.Listen with care...exquisite harmonies keep pouring out from his sax.Watch out for
, a song fills with bittersweetness.I rate this 5 stars because this is the best ballad album I have ever heard. The notes that came out from his sax may not be as complex as Henderson or Coltrane's,but every note he played is very essential to Jazz ballads. With this album, you don't even need a lover to spent a perfect valentine's day.Enjoy it at solitude moments with a glass of red wine would make a perfect moment.I highly recommend this album to people who love REAL MUSIC.Trust me,this one is unlike many other ballad albums out there...Enjoy!

Hamilton makes of the jazz another reason for living!.......2006-06-13
Scott Hamilton Quintet crowned possibly their most inspired album until the date. The scintillant inspiration may be found in any single track you randomly choose.
If you listen for instance, It never entered my mind (my favorite track in the CD) you understand the secret charm of this candlelight album; adequate for those special moments, but besides extremely recommendable after a hard day.
An excellent work that deserves all the most praised epithets.
This has turned out to be a very meaningful cd.......2001-11-03
This cd has really become a favorite of mine. It is a meaningful and significant cd.
The idea of Scott and Gene together on a project is mind boggling.
Until this cd, I had never had the opportunity to hear Gene play. I must confess that Gene has won me over with his sound on the ivories. I plan to buy some of his product in the future.
This cd offers a star studded band. The band seems to play together real well and seems to be having a lot of fun in the process.
This cd offers a good repertoire. I like most of the songs offered here.
Recommendation: I would like to recommend this cd.
"Harris, Hamilton, Ellis, Brown & Jones a personal sound".......2001-02-03
What a lucky-break we have here in this Concord Jazz release - "At Last", although most are standards take on a new direction with each tune. There is a kind of deep, natural swing tempo, blending with rhythm waves flowing essence of jazz. And in the flow of this personal sound is Gene Harris (piano), Scott Hamilton (tenor sax), Herb Ellis (guitar), Ray Brown (bass) and Harold Jones (drums).
On the ballads, Scott Hamilton reveals again that he is a commanding romanticist unafraid of unabashed lyricism, he has such a good feeling on everything - even up-tempos, blues whatever. Gene Harris when he solos has a powerful presence, takes each song and makes it his own. Herb Ellis can move into any musical context and lift it into new and unexpected dimensions. Ray Brown, of course has been such an influential force in jazz, he has always been a big part of it, and Harold Jones (a Count Basie and Sarah Vaughan alumnus), was said he could even make the Congress of the United States swing.
Of course the highlights - "YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE" is an amazingly-bluesy arrangement you'll never forget..."AT LAST" not because it's the title tune, but the rich-inner-feeling each musician brings to this classic....and the Milt Jackson tune written especially for Gene Harris - "BLUES FOR GENE" is an outstanding and a great tribute to this wonderful man of JAZZ!

GREAT FIND.......2000-05-12
I can't say enough about this CD. I own liquor stores and am always looking for that certain sound. Music is a key factor in setting the mood for shoppers and this is it! If I was allowed by my state to sell CDs this would be one of them. We have to leave it out on the counter because customers ask about it all the time. You can't go wrong with this one.
Great Sscott H........2000-01-21
Typical mellow smooth sound from his horn. A little Lester and Coleman show thru the sweet chord progressions.

It would be easy to dismiss this disc as inconsequential .......2005-04-25
. . . it would also be wrong.
Scott Hamilton, recently described, not unfairly, one supposes, in a recent prominent jazz publication, as a "journeyman saxophonist," here delivers the record of his life. And if he is just slightly overshadowed by the finest straight-ahead jazz rhythm section on the scene--Bill Charlap (piano), Peter Washington (bass), and Kenny Washington (drums)--that is nothing to be embarrassed about; almost anyone alive would be.
Indeed, it is the impossibly deep swinging vibe laid down by these three that vaults this session out of the doldrums of competency into the precincts of gloriousness. How long have Charlap and the Washingtons been together now--five years? Ten? I don't know, but somewhere along the way they've achieved an interactive conversational capability that would be scary if it weren't so wonderful. That they've managed to lure the entirely willing Hamilton into their magical web is not so much a surprise as the level his playing consequently achieves.
I have to confess that this kind of session--a rather straightforward reading of hoary jazz chestnuts--isn't ordinarily my thing; I've enough romantic Houston Person and Fathead Newman sides to paper a small office cubicle, and I find myself seldom listening to them. Not because there isn't a certain level of creativity, even sometimes genius, but because no matter how well such dates come off they leave me wishing for something more adventurous. This set, however, achieves something rare in jazz recordings, a kind of serendipity that blesses certain sessions with what can only be described as jazz fairy dust. Everything just works here: the program, achieving a kind of thrust that although somewhat unlikely eventually arrives at inevitability; perfectly balanced production, where each instrument's voice achieves pure clarity while perfectly blending with its counterparts; top-drawer playing by all; and some kind of je ne sais quois, a visit by the ever-fickle jazz gods deigning to grace this disc with their often-sought-but-seldom-delivered favor.
Very much worth acquiring.

Hamilton Cools out with lush strings.......2007-03-04
The world is full of Jazz tenor men who get up and blow as hard as they can with little care about their abrasive tone or musicality. Then there are sax men like Stan Getz and Scott Hamilton with a glorious tone, sweet, romantic, relaxing, but with musical integrity, that is, not sappy Jazz-Lite. This is Cool Jazz. There are also jazz men playing instantly forgetable original "compositions" and there are stylists who, rather than trying to write unlistenable originals, find the best of the American Songbook and put their own individual signature on it.
Scott Hamilton is one of the later - perhaps a carryover from an earlier era when melody mattered. For those who haven't heard him Scott Hamilton sticks a little closer to the melodic line than Getz. The string arrangements by Alan Broadbent are wonderful, lush romantic, while a relaxed, breathy, laconic Hamilton improvizes around the strings like Getz did in "Focus". Even bebopper Charlie Parker recorded one of his most popular albums with strings. Sting albums with the wrong arrangement can become sappy real fast, but Broadbents arrangements are intricate and emphasis the interaction with the sax. Broadbent has recorded piano albums on his own and also with Charlie Hadens Quartet West.
All cuts are good, warm, lush, romantic (except perhaps Look of Love). I particularly like "My Foolish Heart", the Bossa Nova version of "I Concentrate on You" and "Goodbye Mr Evans" perhaps written for Bill Evans? Notes don't say. Drink a glass of champagne with your favorite girl and enjoy
Impressive. Much better than the typical "with strings" album. Well recorded.
Magic Moments!.......2006-03-26
This cd is full of rich and stirring moments with Scott Hamilton on the saxophone. I first heard this cd while sitting in a jazz club over dinner. It was so infectious, yet fine, that I had to ask one of the staff what was playing over their system. They brought me the cover of this cd.
The selection of songs cannot be more complete. "My Foolish Heart" is pure romance! "Angel Eyes" begins in a slowly building, almost haunting style, and then becomes a bit stylish and jazzy. "The Look Of Love" is total perfection. "Nancy With The Laughing Face" is a gorgeous song. Very moody and deep with a bosa nova beat, "I Concentrate On You" will wisk you away.
The orchestrations of strings with the smokiness of the saxophone make a truly brilliant contrast. This is no funk or smooth jazz here.....only sophisticated standards for a mature audience. You almost feel like you are back in the 60's on a stylish movie set. Want to unwind??? This one is it!
"Broadbent's arrangements & Hamilton's playing is absolute".......2001-02-13
All jazz musicians yearn to make a string recording - Charlie Parker's "Just Friends" comes to mind, also Bobby Hackett's "Music For Lovers Only", the great Jacklie Gleason mood-setting series from the '50s.
Carl E. Jefferson paired Scott with Alan Broadbent (piano/musical director/conductor), with Bob Maize (bass), Roy Mc Curdy (drums) and a twenty piece string orchestra, the event was nothing short of magnificent. Some of the most beautiful arrangements ever to appear on any soloist-with-strings recording, and Scott was liking it, leaning backwards with his eyes closed inspired by the amazing sounds coming from the orchestra.
Of course the stand outs - "MY FOOLISH HEART" (Washington/Young), gets under your skin, beautiful beyond belief..."ANGEL EYES" (Dennis/Brent), memories of Nat King Cole velvety sound, Scott gives this a whole new meaning..."NANCY (WITH THE LAUGHING FACE)" (Van Heusen/Silvers), big band hit from "ole blues eyes" Sinatra, Broadbent's string-arrangement reaches deep into your soul.
The highlights are - "YOUNG AND FOOLISH" (Hague/Horwitt), romantically fresh, the verse sets the mood and Hamilton delivers...sounds better the more you hear it, there is a meditating perfection which lingers with each note..."TONIGHT I SHALL SLEEP WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE" (Ellington/Gordon), this is music for "beautiful-dreams", being in love and having a certain feeling when you're around that special person in your life...this is Hamilton at his best, and Concord Jazz we need another just like it...this album is the absolute!
Total Time: 58:00 on 10 Tracks...Concord Jazz CCD 4538...(1993)
Scott has never sounded better.......1998-06-15
Scott Hamilton's tone and phrasing on tenor go beyond "classic": the man is simply archetypal. On this album he is captured with greater clarity and lushness than ever before. Every nuance of his breathtaking artistry is brought shining to the surface for your ears to enjoy. Alan Broadbent's string arrangements complement Scott's rich tone perfectly, while at the same time they avoid cliche or syrupy triteness with some unusual and innovative voicings. This is the strings album for people who don't like strings albums.

Tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton has, over the course of some 30 recordings for Concord Jazz, proven himself a key proponent of Lester Young-style swing. So it's no surprise to have Hamilton--with John "Bucky" Pizzarelli--present this intimate tribute to Zoot Sims, who was widely acknowledged as a lifelong devotee of the Lester Young languid, breathy tenor sax style. Though Hamilton is a relative youngster, Pizzazrelli is a swing vet, a 70-something player who spent decades playing television music before cracking out in the 1970s with Benny Goodman and Zoot Sims, among others. As a pair, Pizzarelli and Hamilton play with all Zoot's heartfelt, slow-dawning emotion, from the wispy romance of "It Had to Be You" to Pizzarelli's hard-hitting, double-time strum solo on "Just You, Just Me." Listened to in an open room, this is relatively quiet music on the surface. But up close, it's beat-rich, with hopping rhythms handled by Pizzarelli's seventh string (allowing him to play bass lines). Moreover, it's delightfully precise in presenting Hamilton's tenor sax as a fluid thing of beauty. With Hamilton and Pizzarelli's newest and the recent Blue Note reissue of Jazz Alive!, a 1959 Sims super-session with Phil Woods, Al Cohn, and Mose Allison, Zoot is ready for a renaissance. --Andrew Bartlett

A Musician's Classic.......2004-01-28
This album just goes to show that it doesn't take more musicians to make more music. I listen to this one over and over and it never gets old. It continually surprises me with new details. The duet setting truly allows these two to completely work out their musical ideas and work off each other in a truly intimate, natural way. Also, the recording quality is superb. There's a real lack of reverb, and it shocked me at first, but I got used to it and now prefer it because it's so transparent. I've heard Scott from the front row a few feet away, and this recording really captures his tone beautifully. The guitar always sparkles, never harsh. I think this is a real classic duet recording, and, to the guy who gave this 2 stars I can only say, man, turn off the t.v., sit down sometime when the coffee buzz has worn off and listen to the subtleties on this recording. Less is more.
smooth jazz at its best.......2002-03-14
To me, this CD is an excellent example of West Coast Cool jazz. If you're into Cool jazz (Zoot Sims, Stan Getz), you will simply love this album. If you're not -- and there's nothing wrong with that -- then this album isn't for you.
Thank goodness wonderful musicians are still making music in this sublime and interesting style.
the lost art of the duo.......1999-04-26
what makes the scott hamilton/bucky pizzarelli record great is the fact that it IS just two men sitting in a studio making great music. you can hear them listening to each other, pushing each other and enjoying each other. not every jazz(or other style) cd has to hit you over the head to swing hard.
Vintage Guitar magazine review:.......1999-02-09
The Red Door, Bucky Pizzarelli and Scott Hamilton's tribute to sax god Zoot Sims, is an amazingly sublime album. Sims was a true sultan of swing, a classic golden-age jazzer of the 1930s and 1940s whose horn helped define the sound of an era. In celebration of Zoot's music, tenor saxman Hamilton and swing guitarist Pizzarelli work together as a duet like siamese twins. Pizzarelli plays a six-string Gibson acoustic archtop and a seven-string electric, unrolling chord-melody solos and bopping single-note lines that swing like there's no tomorrow. Now 72, Bucky is a contemporary of Zoot, and is still one of the finest swing guitarmen going. The arrangements here are tight yet at the same time spontaneous, and the sound is both old and new. If you have any love for swing, this CD will take you on a joyful trip down memory lane. Pizzarelli's Nirvana features Bucky on his trademark seven-string Benedetto with backing from his son, John Pizzarelli. The sound is very electric, modern-style jazz featuring covers of Django's "Nuages," Benny Goodman's "Stompin' at the Savoy," "Honeysuckle Rose," and more.
Perfect smooth jazz for a late night........1998-11-26
I don't usually write reviews but when I saw the only review of this record was a 2 star pan, I had to right an online injustice. Scott Hamilton is a wonderful tenor player that sounds like he never heard music recorded after 1958. The exception is that he's heard lots of legendary straight-ahead tenor saxman Zoot Sims, especially convenient since the record is a tribute to the music of Zoot Sims.
I'm not usually fan of duet albums, but Bucky Pizzarelli, a legendary guitarist, is a excellent partner for Hamilton. This is smooth jazz without being (feh) lite jazz. Inventive, highly melodic, alternately swinging and grooving - I wouldn't necessarily drive cross-country to it, but it's great listening for quiet times.

Album Description

Swinging stuff.......2007-07-02
This lovely session of Ellington material from 1994 features the impeccable Tenor Sax playing of Scott Hamilton teamed up with the Hammond Organ playing of Mike LeDonne. On bass is Dennis Irwin and Chuck Riggs is on drums.
The first track is 'Jump for Joy' and on this track, as on the rest of the album, Hamilton shows why he is considered one of the leading mainstream players of his generation. LeDonne matches him with an inventive solo making use of some of the Hammond organs extraordinary palatte of sounds. The second track 'Blue Hodge' (interestingly not an Ellington original) is taken at a lesser tempo but drives along with a relentless grove. Strangely enough on both these tracks LeDonnes organ playing in some way reminded me of Count Basie. I'm not sure why, perhaps something to do with his phrasing.
The rest of the album maintains a similar style and standard, and I could talk about every track in some detail. However all you need to know is that this is well worth getting. It doesn't seem to be available new anymore so if its of any help its on the Concord label catelogue number
CCD-4623 (in the UK anyway).
A stellar performance .......... !.......2006-10-22
A stellar performance by Scott Hamilton, in this quartet setting.
This CD displays Scott's diversity, range, and precision in his playing of the tenor saxophone, solid swing! Be-bop jazz on a high level!

In recent years British composer and conductor Donald Fraser has given us "Heigh-Ho! Mozart!" and "Bibbidi Bobbidi Bach" compilations of Disney tunes deftly rendered in the style of classical composers. Now he's back with more. This time we get famous TV show themes that Mozart, Satie, and Hovannes would have written them--or so Fraser claims. A sturdy tune will withstand a lot, one is reminded, hearing the "Brady Bunch" theme "by" Mozart. "Mr. Ed" in the style of Joachim Rodrigo is disturbing in its authenticity. These expert performances by the Hollywood Chamber Symphony make these knock-offs more convincing. Fraser has thrown his heart and soul into this, declaring in the notes that "'Jeopardy' is a very simple tune, crying out for variations." --Gwendolyn Freed

Just think what Mozart could do with "The Jeffersons"!.......2002-01-21
While many might dismiss this as an oddity, I find the arrangements of these familiar TV themes to be most musically satisfying, paying tribute to their composers and the great masters whose styles they simulate. Donald Fraser has marvelously adapted them to the distinctive techniques of a mixed bag from Joplin to Handel to Strauss.
A track-by-track listing (with my commentary for some) is as follows:
1. "Friends (I'll Be There For You)" - in the style of Vivaldi (3:42)
2. "Hill Street Blues" - in the style of Mozart (5:25)
3. "M*A*S*H (Suicide is Painless) - in the style of Mozart (4:25)
4. "The Brady Bunch" - in the style of Mozart (4:55)
5. "Bewitched" - in the style of Debussy (3:19) Wonderful harp solo!
6. "X-Files Theme (Main Title)" - in the style of Hovhaness (4:27) Brilliant!
7. "Taxi (Angela's Theme)" - in the style of Villa-Lobos (3:19)
8. "Green Acres" - in the style of Joplin (4:06) Who thought the barnyard comedy could be so classy?
9. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show (Love is All Around)" - in the style of Satie (3:23)
10. "Mr. Ed" - in the style of Rodrigo (2:46)
11. "Jeopardy (Think Music)" - in the style of Handel (3:13)
12. "The Jetsons" - in the style of Britten (3:29) Dynamically fun!
13. "Cheers (Where Everybody Knows Your Name)" - in the style of J. Ireland
14. "I Love Lucy" - in the style of Purcell (4:33) Classically charged!
15. "Star Trek: Voyager" - in the style of R. Strauss (3:44) Goldsmith's theme is perfect for Strauss!
The disc is relaxing, smile-inducing, and a downright illuminating journey through television memories as well as an introduction to the works of those past giants whose compositions remain timeless.
You will enjoy this CD like no other. Its fantastic.......1999-09-17
This CD has about 15 selections of famous tv themes styled like the masters of old did them. They are performed by an outstanding Orchestra. The CD is worth the "Brady Bunch" theme alone. I have played this cd for family and friend and love watching them try to remember this "Classical Music" not realizing that it is really a tv theme.
