The best of the best
A Pleasant Surprise.......2006-11-14
I enjoy this compilation of greatest hits from One Way very much! I added many of the jams to my "Divapod", including the Alicia Myers joints...which I would have been heated if they were not on there! The first time I listened to this, I was pleasantly surprised because songs I didn't even know One Way were responsible for, were on it. My favorite One Way joints are "Don't Think About It", "Cutey Pie" and "You Can Do It", (one of my mom's favorite songs as well)! Every joint I wanted to be on this cd was...it was like they called me and asked me what I wanted! The Northeast Coast was not exposed to many of the songs that people in their reviews are mentioning..so I can not express discontent like they are, I can only express pure satisfaction. This one is definitely worth the purchase and a must have for any serious music lover.
The Best of One Way.......2006-07-13
Excellent Album, especially the solos of Alicia Myers who has a very powerfull voice. Definitely worth purchasing and is good listening pleasure. Brings back lots of good memories. An added bonus would have been the inclusion of the version of "Feelings" featuring Al Hudson & the Soul Partners.
Gimme that funk..........2006-05-24
I wish I had the original master tapes and the rights to re-release these classic albums myself! MCA, Universal or whoever, let me at that funk because it's real sad when the Japanese get it before we do! Even Germany have the first One Way album before Detroit! Come on, I know the head companies aren't based in America anymore, and it's all about the Platinum and the Diamonds in this industy, but this is about the classics, respectfully. I have an excellent ear and can also remaster these albums to the T, and then some. The fans want it, and that includes Me. Please, just give me "Wild Night!" Been cheated for too long on these doggone imports (almost 40 to 50 bucks for the "Who's Foolin' Who?" album... the irony of the price and the title's killin' me right now!) This compilation wasn't a thought-out venture at all. Well, let's just see if we get an anthology for Al Hudson & company One Way or another...

Classic old-school disco funk!.......2007-07-07
"You Can Do It" and "Music" were huge club and party hits back in the day and to my ears, these two tunes are just as strong now as they were when they were released in 1979. I have both tunes on 12" and got playing them after they came up in a conversation with a friend. I found myself playing them over and over again and it eventually dawned on me that I finally needed to get them on CD.
The biggest surprise was how much I liked all the other tunes on the album. "Now That I Found You", "Guess You Didn't Know", "Come Dance With Me" and "I Am Under Your Spell" are all very interesting songs, well produced and with great vocal performances, especially from the brilliant Alicia Myers. I'm so glad I got this on CD and can't get seem to get it out of my car now. If you're a lover of the great music from the 80s, put this on your must-have list before it goes out of print. These kinds of albums usually do.

Second volume of a very good disco series.......2004-02-28
Volume 2 has at least 2 entries that are not in their extended (12" or LP) versions, though most are:
Trammps-Disco Inferno (hey, the liner notes to Vol. 1 said this was on Vol. 3) (10:51)
Ashford & Simpson-Found a Cure (3:46)(this is the 7" version; still excellent but most would prefer the 7+ minute version)
Evelyn "Champagne" King-I'm In Love (3:53) (another short version) (Actually, Evelyn wasn't using the "Champagne" nickname when this hit in 1981. I am so proud to be a font of useless music trivia...thank you Amazon, for providing me this outlet)
Jean Carn-Was That All There Was (3:53)
B.T. Express-Express (5:06)
One Way f/Al Hudson-Music (7:17)
Sister Sledge-He's The Greatest Dancer (6:13)
Sylvester-(You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real (6:34)
O'Jays-Message In Our Music (6:23)
Teddy Pendergrass-The More I Get, The More I Want (4:27)
Chic-I Want Your Love (6:56) (despite what I said about The Hustle on Vol. 1, something from Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards needs to be on every disco compilation)
Chaka Khan-I'm Every Woman (4:09)
I think I'm not giving these discs five stars because the song choices on each volume seem so random. A song from 1975 may follow one from 1982, and there is no reason why any particular group of songs are on any volume. ("Club Floor Classics-The 70's" and Hip-O's "Dance 54" collections work better, to me, because they are more cohesive.) And when you think about it, can each of eleven volumes of this really be THE "best in the universe?"

thank god for the internet !!.......2004-02-07
Probably their best album - very well put together, though not many tracks. And because it's their finest work, it's also the hardest to get(I just ordered mine tonight so wish me luck) but I had this album when it was new and believe me im DYING to get it back! If you buy, you'll grovve off the better known tracks but it's the sleeper cut "i am under your spell" that you never heard that'll smooth your soul right out of your body. This song haunted me for years because i thought i'd never hear it again - thank god for the internet!
