      Black Forest Explosion! is an extensive anthology of Jankowski's work from 1968 to 1973. While most of the tracks have a made-for-TV feel, the arrangements for both the popular remakes and his original works are usually interesting and gratifying. And it's fun to hear the Beatles' FOOL ON THE HILL and the Carpenter's WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN sung in German. Jankowski shows his mature style with a reprise of his hit, WALK IN THE BLACK FOREST, played very jazzy, but without the innocence of the original track (from THE GENIUS OF JANKOWSKI). This collection will especially interest those who like the perky, quirky style and instrumentation that marked the late '60s.
