This CD sounds pretty good. I purchased it for 2 songs only, which I LOVE.

Old School classic for your collection.......2007-03-04

In an era where slow jams were the most en vogue type of music, Troop somehow still remained under the radar for the most part. Although mid-tempo hit, "Spread My Wings" hit the charts for quite some time, the other hits remained anonymous to the major public, only enjoyed by the more peculiar fans that sought out albums. "All I Do Is Think Of You" is probably one of my favorite old school slow jams, with a romantic theme dating back to the high school days. "That's My Attitude" was Troop's attempt at trying to spice up their image, but the song came across as more of an attempt than a finished product. It lacked some of the edgy flavor the other hard-core R&B artists had, but it was a fairly decent attempt at up-tempo hits. "I Will Always Love You" is NOT a re-make of Dolly Parton or Whitney Houston's hit, but a nice slow jam unique from other artists. It even has a bit of an orchastral background sound which makes the song sound a little different than the typical R&B hit. The other tracks on this album doesn't stand out too much, but the album as a whole is fairly good and worth listening to.

Troop was the stuff back in 89. I still play this album from time to time.
Classic r&b, not sure if this qualifies as an new jack swing album?

I loved this album. The music is great. The songs are beautiful especially "Spreay My Wings" & "All I Do Is Think of U", the band was very underrated. The singers of today should take notice of this talented group.

Slayer Shows Their Real Influences........2007-07-18

This is the music that Slayer was truly inspired by. The 80's hardcore attitude. Minor Threat, TSOL, The adolescents, The stooges. That right there is some of the best music you'll ever hear. Slayer is an incredible band and I like that they covered punk bands who influenced them because that's pretty much where the thrash genre originated from. Thank you Slayer. You guys shredded in the 80's and you're still thrashin' now. Keep up the hardcore and punk attitude. And why don't you cover a Dead kennedys song?

Punk Ain't Dead.......2007-06-03

Being relativly new to Slayer I can still understand why some fans might feel alinated by this album, but I can't understand why anyone would call Slayer sellouts for making a punk tribute album done in classic Slayer fashion. Basicaly you have an album full of two minute Slayer songs . And the problem is what exactally????? These aren't Ramone's or Clash covers, they pull off beautifuly 3 Minor Threat songs which are among my fav's. You get the same Slayer sound only without the satanic lyrics. Top notch album.

This is my favorite Slayer album (gasp). Slayer playing old school hardcore punk covers -- could anything be more fun?? This is one brutal disc and it is exceptional. Awesome display of chops!

If you are some sort of metal purist,well then you shouldn't be listening to thrash, let alone Slayer. To call this album a "sellout" is ridiculous and demonstrates a high degree of ignorance. How can an album so brutal be a "sellout"??

First off, kid. What's your age, 12? Slayer's Undisputed Attitude is not a new album, it's over 10 years old (may be older than you). Second, how is Slayer selling out by doing a tribute to music that basically started hardcore, thrash and speed metal (which Slayer was considered in the beginning) along with many other of the genres today. Do some research on punk and see all of the genres that came from it. Also, is it a crime for Slayer to be a fan of punk? Third, Slayer has come out with several albums since then and none of them are slow or even a different style of music. They don't even campare to the change that Metallica went through. Learn what a sellout is and don't run your mouth so much!!

i like a little bit of it, doesent mean its good, i wont throw it away or anything, ill just let it sift...wait...and look at the album cover most of the time. slayer is getting better though.

Pure listening enjoyment............2006-05-25

I have been a huge fan of Samantha's Fox since the release of her first album. There have been some songs I really liked back in the day, and others that sounded like something my little sister wrote (with cheesy lyrics and no real flow to them). However, I have to say that "ANGEL WITH AN ATTITUDE" is by far Samantha's best work ever! I just purchased it on Amazon and am NOT disappointed in the least! I was going to put them in order of the ones I like the best to the least, but I truly can't do it! I like every song on this CD! I could listen to it in it's entirety, but if I were to skip any song(s), it would be "Dreams Unfold" or "Breathe". I can see where I may not be in a mood to hear them, but they are good songs in their own right; maybe just not as much my taste as the others. "Time" (the bonus track) is okay, too, but I would probably put it in the bottom three. But I would have no problem listening to every song if the option to skip some wasn't there. DEFINITELY BUY THIS CD! It is so worth the money! KUDOS Sammy!

Not bad at all. Sam Fox shines once again.......2005-12-16

Samantha Fox new CD, produced by Fox and Joe Barrucco,shines when it comes to polish quality. The reason for the four star, is that some of the tracks are very similiar in style and musical preference. But this is not a let down. Not at all. There are 13 tracks on this one, and is well worth the money, if you think this CD it`s expensive. Some tracks bring you into dance mood, some dont. Here sometimes tiny voice, fit perfect on some of the tracks. The opening track is not at here best. Angel with an attitude. But hey, lets move on to a real "goodies" with track 2 To be heard, which is a uptempo dance beat song, whit hit quality, and a great sound of "airy" syntheseisers. Sam Fox is one of the few artists who can say aaaaaaah, that will bring you what we can call "eargasm ". It`s a clever thing to put so much "air "inbetween here voice and the soundpicture. That makes here voice comes forward very clear trough the different tracks. On Track 5, The Power Sammy goes what we can call " soft heavy metal power ballad" with some fuzz on the guitars, included a more sensual and raw Foxy voice.
Many of the tracks has some similarty with ELO (Electric Light Orcestra) and a Jeff Lynne inspired symphonic sound picture. Track 9 Breathe is veeery mooody, and a great ballad with high Fox standard. Track 12 Dreams Unfold is anyway a great ballad, which put you in a relaxable mood, it has some realy hit potensial if it`s played on the radio. The funny thing is that one of the best track's on the CD is the bonus track Time, which are full of rythm and dance, that should at least kicks some ass, and Sam Fox voice register shines more. This is a realy goodys for the fan, and others too. It`s a pity that it`s not have world wide distribution, and only distributed in Canada. But as a clever buisness whoman as she certainly are, she probably nows what`s shes doing. Samantha Fox shines once again.

21st Century Angel.......2005-11-21

I got Sam's new album, "Angel With An Attitude" in the mail yesterday and I have to say - it is definitely one of her best albums. Right up there with "21st Century Fox" and "I Wanna Have Some Fun." She co-wrote all thirteen tracks, which makes the album very personal, and I think that's why I liked it so much.

The music is really nothing new in the spectrum, but it is something she's not really done yet (at least not full blown). Almost every track is trancey or dance-oriented, but not the same as the Euro-dance style of "21st Century Fox." This isn't as in your face; it's more laid back. The lyrics pack a wollop and the track "Breathe" even made me cry (which is very rare for a song to do). It sounds to me, almost like a response to her track "Even In The Darkest Hours."

The other main highlight for me was the song "Destined To Be." It's a very straight-forward dance track and Sam sounds great. This is defintely her best album vocally. The only song I don't really like at all is the bonus track "Time." It sounds like nothing else on the album and comes across as very dated. Otherwise, the other twelve tracks are great.

The title track is very good, but not what I was expecting based on the sound clip from Sam's homepage. It's better than that! "To Be Heard" is my next-to-last favorite song (just a notch above "Time"). With it's cheesy lyrics (cheesy even for Sam), and her rhyming "horses" with "voices, " it's all just in bad taste, imo.

Other tracks such as "I Give Myself To You, " "The Power" (not a cover of the song by Amy Grant which was covered by Cher), and "Dreams Unfold" are all similar in nature. Very revealing lyrically, with a good beat and strong vocals from our Ms. Fox. There's even a nod to her bisexuality in the song "You and Me" (which is not the song from the 'All Around The World' DVD) when she sings, "Another lover you could choose to be/A question mark about your sexuality." She also hooked up again with Eagle E, who rapped on the DJ Milano track 'Santa Maria', which Sam sang the vocals to, on the track "Time."

Overall, this is a cut-above most discs that have come out this year, and Sam has done some of the best work of her career. Welcome back, darlin', I've missed ya!

Timelessly Innovative.......2005-12-17

It is well known that this album has inspired many women to enter into the blues music industry. I recently purchased this smart cd-- I am sorry to say that I waited so long to do so. Between the sheer anger of the song "Suffer" to the soul-full desparation of "*4 in the morning", I am completely impressed, and a permanent fan.

Outstanding! Really made my day. Cathy Jean's not only the best looking female blues singer in the biz, but her voice can make the hair on my back stand up. She and her band got it going on.

This is another in the fine outings by the very sexy Cathy Jean. The emotion she displays is certainly displayed on the Louisiana style cut, "Unfinished Business". "Leave Me Alone" is a song of an entirely different style being that it's more bluesy in the traditional sense. Dancers will be knocked out by this hard driving tune along with "I'm Your Girl" which is just a bit quicker but with the same power to make you get up and dance.

sophistication and downhome grease.......2001-12-19

Cathy Jean is a singer/songwriter out of Baltimore, Maryland. This is her second CD, and her sound has moved towards a sophisticated blues and rock, with some contemporary influences. She has a voice that is well suited to this eclectic approach, capable of crooning in one song, and belting out a hard shuffle in the next. The music kicks off with "Be Glad", a hard shuffle, followed by the title track, a crisp blues rocker. Cathy and band then move into some jazzy funk in "**4 in the Morning**", a little of the Bo Diddley beat in "Unfinished Business", then back into the funk with "How Many". "Leave Me Alone" is a rocker with a definate soul feel, which gives way to "Why Don't You See Me", a jazzy ballad. The band then cranks out a sharp shuffle, that recalls the 70's Albert Collins sound, followed by "Please Stop Seeing That Girl", a funky acoustic blues that showcases yet another facet of Cathy Jean's voice. Dancers in the crowd are served next with the catchy rocking blues, "I'm Your Girl", then comes the sultry "See You Tomorrow", and the acoustic country-blues of "Blues Singin' Alcoholic". Next up is the New Orleans style rocker, "I Want Your Mother To Know/Rotten B." which Cathy belts out with authority. This CD closes with a nice slow blues and a gospelish blues that is a inventive synthesis of genres. SUMMARY: Cathy Jean has come up with an energetic set of blues, jazz and contemporary-blues that fits the 90's to a T. She has real fire in her voice, and all of the music here is driven by a genuine sense of passion that makes the songs literally jump out at you from the speakers. I am a manager of a public library and also play blues harmonica. I bought her CD, "I Want", for the library... it kicks. Listening to her and looking at her is a deadly combination, makes my head swim.

Finally, Slayer creates an album that matches the furious savagery of its breakthrough American debut, Reign in Blood, and wouldn't you know it, it's a bunch of cover tunes. In Slayer's speedy mitts these hardcore classics from the early and mid-'80s have twice the impact of the originals and actually sound a lot like outtakes from Reign in Blood minus the gorey lyrics. The original versions of these tunes don't have the ripping solos created by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, but aside from that one liberty, all the songs are done with good faith and reverence.

There's little doubt that at one point Slayer was influenced as much by Metallica as D.R.I. Unlike Guns 'N' Roses' weak attempt to patronize their punk idols on The Spaghetti Incident?, Slayer perform tunes like D.I.'s "Richard Hung Himself," Verbal Abuse's "Verbal Abuse/Leeches," and Dr. Know's "Mr. Freeze" with such verve and exuberance that it's hard to question their sincerity. The biggest letdown on the entire record is a new original, entitled "Gemini," that slogs along. Their cover of The Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" is more spirited.

Punk purists may object to a metal band paying homage to these tunes, but Undisputed Attitude proves the two worlds aren't that far apart. Hopefully Slayer will draw from this inspiration once again and create a new album of originals with the same punishing hybrid of hardcore and metal.-- Adem Tepedelen

If scientists strived to merge crunchy, hook-heavy pop-rock-punk and the super-shiniest production techniques this side of Smashing Pumpkins, the result would probably sound exactly like Everclear's Songs from an American Movie, Vol. 2: Good Time for a Bad Attitude. It's a hit-or-miss outing. On the one hand, it's a step up from the tepid Songs from an American Movie, Vol. 1, and it takes the boys back to the loose but mighty muscularity that made Sparkle and Fade such a delight. Art Alexakis and company take some chances, like the funky groove of "Babytalk" and the ballad to bombast and back again of "Out of My Depth." On the minus side, the production is so slick that there's no friction, and rock music without friction is like, well, like large chunks of this Attitude. Definitely a mixed bag from Everclear. --Jason Josephes

A lot like the first "Songs" but a little bit rougher, not quite as polished. But like most Everclear you need to listen to the lyrics to get a deep appreciation for the music. The quality of the recoprding seems not to be so terrific, but in general it is good (not great) classic Everclear.

Worse than Volume 1, by a long shot........2006-08-26

What little "Volume 1" had to offer, "Volume 2" has even less.

There is not one single memorable tune. It's all Everclear-sounding songs, but nothing that jumps out and says, "Hey, listen to me again!"

Competently done, well played, well produced...but utterly inconsequential. "Rock Star" even sounds like an Everclear cover band song, like somebody was trying to imitate Alexakis and company.

This was WAY boring, I thought.

Not as melodic as Vol.I.......2006-07-08

I understand this is more a return to form for Everclear, but I did prefer the more melodic sounds on Volume I. That being said there are a number of worthy songs here. "Short Blond Hair" about what really is not important anymore, "Out of My Depth" a tuneful look at despair, and "Overwhelming" which may prove to be wishful thinking but is a valiant effort to show the pain of a relationship gone wrong are all excellent examples of the band in top form.
But some other tunes are pretty much a waste of time. Like "Babytalk" that is pretty much a hard rocker about a pet peeve, and "Rock Star" an idea that has been done to death and usually better than this one. And even the title "Misery Whip" makes me wince. I just feel Volume I was more consistently listenable.

This is surely one of the greatest albums in rock. Art Alexakis is the best songwriter to come around since John Easedale from Dramarama. The song ROCK STAR is the most hilarious repudiation of the sickening false humility that permeated the Northwest Music Scene I have ever heard; its one of the most bratty, snotty, sneering rock and roll songs to blister the ears since the Sex Pistols first roared out of the gate.

Misunderstood.......2005-04-09

I guess that is how I will sum this Songs from an American movie vol. 2... up. I don't know maybe it's just me but I love this album. I am not a person that easily gives five stars to an album, in fact some of my favorite albums only receive four stars. Anyways, this is a rock album. Meaning power chords abundant and alot of Art's patented "Oh's! and Yeah's!" But seriously this is an up tempo album, not as angry as World of noise or tracks like "heroin girl" from Sparkle and fade. Instead this album sounds like what it is, some middle age guys saying I'm going to turn this way up and throw a tantrum for fourty minutes. This is the album I use to introduce my friends to everclear, I know most people will use the argument that sparkle and world were better, but this is far more accessible and toungue and cheek. I mean come on the chorus in "babytalk" is "she's got you by the balls!" try not to sing that all day long. The one thing that I feel I should mention is what a gem the song "good witch" is. I almost break into tears when I hear it. It is a song about that love that is almost within reach. One that if you are in that situation you will feel. I love Everclear and hope that they attempt more albums in this spirit instead of whatever the heck Slow motion daydream is. Thank you for your time.

In between a massive national tour in support of The Getty Address and relocation to Brooklyn, chief Dirty Projector Dave Longstreth wrote an EP's worth of crazy new songs. Playing the electric counterpoint to The Getty Address, New Attitude is a refreshingly pared-down disc: simple, beautiful, and focused. It is dominated by the sound of chiming microtonal guitars, sub-bass dragon breaths, a sextet of cellos and double-basses, and, most of all, Longstreth's singing, which has never been so varied or so wonderfully weird.

Few musicians have been called "genius" by Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie) and inspired Prefuse 73 to declare that he is "quitting music." In 2005, Dirty Projectors shared stages with Tyondai Braxton, Akron/Family, CocoRosie, Kip Malone (TV on the Radio), Six Organs of Admittance, Yo La Tengo, Oneida, and more. This is how Dave Longstreth describes New Attitude: "For me, this EP was all about full-spectrum. I tried to make completely hit songs that each created a rainbow of sound by defining poles of extreme low-for that I used sine waves-and extreme high, like the disco car-ad three-part falsetto harmony choruses in `Imagine It.' If you like rainbows, this record is for you."

Dave Longstreth with his Dirty Projectors moniker has been producing the most discordantly pleasurable in intensely satisfying popcraft for some time now. With four full length record under his belt now, those are familiar with Longstreth's musings won't be surprised at the schizophrenic air his latest release. The seven songs release compiles four bipolar gypsy pop romps and three live recordings. While the transition in production between the two distinct sets of songs is a bit drastic the songs are undeniably magnificent, feeding the hype for Longstreth's upcoming 2007 full length. With an undying energy this little EP runs laps around most bands full length releases. Another worthy release to the oh-so-consistently-wonderful Dirty Projectors output. Chameleon.

LOVED THEM IN CONCERT LOVE THEIR CD!!!.......2007-02-11

Considering the fact that I'm not really a critic I can't say if you'll like this CD. However, I can say that as a 22 year old with a taste for interesting and entertaining music this band delivers! Amber and Angel offer sweet melodics to the lead singers rambunctious antics and vocals. Their Drummer slamms the rhythm with such ferocity that you can't help but tap your foot. I loved every song they played. What a killer opening act! I saw them at First Ave in Minneapolis when they opened for Grizzly Bear and they practically stole the show! Great CD in my book. If you ever get a chance to see them live do so!

I remember when...............2007-07-28

I remember wnem there was such a thing as hardcore tracks on CD. The Quad Force,D.J. Trans,Captain Quad,Kid Fury and The Bass Foundation were at the top of the list of new-style bass tracks.What happened after the big move is still unknown for me...when bass music became rap.Then died. Anyone wanting to pound their car/truck or house to pieces and not be suffering new-school=pre-school lyrics over good tracks should consider this Album and it's contemporaries. Remember when Rap/Urban music used to be fun and non-affilliated? FIVE STARS...FIVE SHAKING WINDOWS!

One of the best bass albums of all times.......2005-10-23

Just about every song on the is album is a classic. Quad Force is the best bass group only surpassed by Magic Mike who turned my on to bass with 1 classic song. The best song on this album is "Why Is The Bass So Strong?". If you have some good speakers and subwoofer just close your eyes and listen. THe best thing about Quad Force is they turn every little thing into a nice beat/rhythm, each instrument in their songs can be listened to as a separate melody.

Incredible. Even if I love a disc, I usually tire of it within a few listenings. Not the case with this music. It's layers and melodies seem to keep unfolding. This is a must have disc - no question about it. My only complaint is I have to wait for them to put out another disc!

Remarkable - Amazing - Detailed.......2003-11-27

RAD MAN! I totally dig the cd. Its probably one of my most favorite cds ever. I have been a BT fan for over 5 years and let me tell you. This band is such a stretch into the work and style of BT. They create there own styles, there own beats, there own atmospheric blends. This cd is remarkable, the vocals are sick, the beats are dope.

If you like to dance, and you want something that will keep your head bobbing...... WBN is for you

Very catchy music.......2003-11-09

This has to be one of my most spun CDs that I have purchased in the past month or so. That says a lot as I have bought 3 or 4 really awsome new CDs in the past month(Anything Box, Camouflage, ...). The music on this CD is really interesting, there are definately many layers to it. I like how the vocals are at time shorter and choppy. No ballads on this CD. The interesting use of vocals and the style of the singing really adds to the luster of the CD. I love songs like "Superman" with a very catchy intro and an awsome chorus to keep ya listening. "You wanna see me and / You wanna be me but / You don't know / What it takes to be me / What it takes to live a fantasy". With tracks like "Forward Reverse Universe", "Superman", "Drops of Sugar", and "Freedom" one can hardly go wrong.

Very highly recommended if you like catchy electronic music with has some meaning.

Original, Outstanding.......2003-07-07

This album is great. It's 100% new and original material, like nothing I've ever heard, but noticeable influences all over the board. These guys have a techno influence but they know how to use real instruments, which makes for some great synth-pop with a kind of organic feel.
The production is by far the most note worthy, it is done with artistry and a finely tuned ear. Perfect timing and many complex and fascinating layers, worthy of many listens, and a great example for aspiring producers everywhere. The lyrics are very original and, while they don't take themselves too seriously, they are delivered with feeling and a great sort of raw not over-produced voice.
If that isn't enough. I can't even believe that they do all this online, one guy in Ohio and one guy in Washington (state). What more can I say, I look forward to more from these guys.

I must say, this is not your run of the mill never ending techno CD. Quite the opposite! It takes the techno sound to a whole new level by having more of an emphasis on the vocals than most other artists. Take that, mix it in with sonds like "Superhero" and "Drops of Sugar" along with every other great song on this CD, and you have an amazing album that will give you endless hours of entertainment.
