About the Artist
Gathering is a collection of accomplished musicians that share a common hope for the future of our planet. We believe that global survival is predicated upon our ability to come together in celebration of our diversity and collective imagination. We have selected music as a tool to nurture learning: learning to appreciate our similarities and differences; learning to love one another; learning to work together, applying our creativity energy and talents to build a lasting "better than before".

The core members of Gathering, Kate Peters, Baba Elefante, Ron Kobayashi and Steve Dixon have all been performing for most of their lives. Their backgrounds bring together jazz, classical music, funk, rock, blues, avant-garde music, and theater. They have performed with such notables as Kenny Burrell, Jody Fisher, Eric Marienthal, Patrick Moraz, Lee Oskar, John Raitt, Mel Torme, Tim Weisberg, and Margaret Whiting. They have all done professional studio work as well as live stage and television appearances.

Since 1999, they have performed together in shows that are stories told in concert settings that combine multi-ethnic musical contrasts, dramatic entertainment and audience interaction, to facilitate connection, celebrate diversity and address the issues of our times.
