Jaye P. Morgan is one of the finest singers in the music world over the past 50 years and should have been a household name as a Legendary Singer and not for "The Gong Show". Lucky to see Jaye P. in concert a number of times in the seventies and then again in the early nineties, there is nobody around to compare to this great and sublimely soulful singer who is a complete original and the great J.P. is peerless! Merv Griffin did whole ninety minute shows with this legendary lady and Merv always knew the best in great singers and performers and you could tell that he was enthralled with her talent and she really delivered on these shows when she sang but sadly didn't have any promotion on her great recordings from this period and her masterwork lp "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?" and the definitive on 45rpm only version of Leon Russell's "A Song For You" (both on Beverly Hills Records) are lost masterpieces that need to be released on compact disc. Thankfully this wonderful "Lately!" from the eighties is now out for everyone to savor and enjoy who really know how to appreciate a great singer in prime form and this is a wonderful diverse collection of songs that catch J.P. in riveting form ranging from torchy, soulful, fine and funky to soulfully sublime and nobody does it better! Listen how deep J.P. goes inside of the Stevie Wonder gem "Lately" and experience an artist who is capable of riveting emotional intensity..."Song Of The Sand" from "La Cage Aux Folles" is brilliant and mesmerizing while the thrilling big-band classic "That Old Feeling" is so loose and classic Jaye P. Great music from a great talent.......2005-11-23

Jaye P Morgan's music is just as fresh, flawless, and fabulous as when she was exploded on the music scene in the 1950s. She is an incredible talent and can sing any type of music with soul, spirit, and sensuality. She was hip, and one of Johnny Carson's favorite singers and guests throughout the 60s and 70s, and when you hear this CD, you will know why. She has class and is a real pro. This CD offers a pleasing and enjoyable mix of music, and shows that Jaye P can master any contemporary music melody and make it her own. "Cheatin Me" is sexy, and "Lately" is intimate and revealing. All tracks are great, and I highly recommend. She's right up there with the best - Lena Horne, Rosemary Clooney,and Cleo Lane. J.

NO GONG FOR JAYE P. LATELY!.......2005-10-22

I guess everybody remembers Jaye P. Morgan from the Gong Show, how Chuck Barris used to introduce her by saying "And here she is, Jaye. P. Mor-goan!!!" But I remember she sang and had hit records long before the Barris show ever came along, and she has really got a great set of pipes. This CD has some of her best performances. She sings "Lately" better than the man who wrote it, ditto "Every Breath You Take," and her version of "Song On The Sand" brings tears to my eyes. "Carousel Dreams" is a knock-out heartbreaker too, and "That Old Feeling" is pure Morgan at the top of her game. Eight songs in all, but the way Miss Morgan sings them, you think there are fifty. In today's music world, everybody is a "singer." But rest assured, hardly any of those "singers" can sing like Jaye P. Morgan does. If you know who she is, you'll want this CD. But if you don't know who she is, meet Jaye P. Morgan on "Lately!" This is one CD you will play again and again. Believe me when I tell you, I do.

Does anybody know what fairy music really sounds like? If they own this CD, they most certainly do! Performed on a "celestial celest" by keyboardist Verne Langdon (known in the music industry for his own imaginitive forays into fantasy), Fairies In The Moonlight boasts an even baker's dozen (13) original compositions by Mr. Langdon befitting the subject matter. Standouts are FiFi The Fairy, Nosies - Toesies, Black Gardenias, Mushroom Magic Garden, Fairy Bree, and of course the title track Fairies In The Moonlight. The cover and book art is by the gifted fairyland artist Kelly Mann, and a precious original fairy poem by fairy journalist Brianna Karrasch rounds out this very delicate musical work of art. Play this in the moonlight, and watch the fairies come out from under the mushrooms and fill your garden. This is one CD children of all ages will cherish forever.

In the Hollywood of the Thirties and Forties, the stars were given new names that sounded better or projected a bigger image. When John Roland Redd, keyboard virtuoso, hit Hollywood in 1940, he started wearing a turban and changed his name to Juan Rolando. Juan made fantastic sounds recorded on Cocktail Hour Records heard on this CD - outstanding are Chinatown, Tico Tico (he taught Ethel Smith to play it and she had a best seller with his arrangement!), and Give It To Me Now. In 1948 Juan began playing mood music for a revival of the hit radio serial Chandu The Magician, and with that show came the name and image adjustment to Korla Pandit. Mr. Pandit pioneered Television on KTLA with his own show, but he also pioneered something more lasting, namely EXOTICA! His mystic moods inspired the likes of Martin Denny, and everything he played with an exotic flavor can be heard on this Korla Pandit Buried Treasure CD. Especially haunting are his own Magnetic Theme, Ode To A Desert Love, Tabla Tarangua, and Theme Of The Underwater Worshippers, but really, every number Korla Pandit plays is awesome, and nowhere is he as awesome as on this 2-set CD! Some of this stuff is ancient, having been recorded by Harry Bryant at Radio Recorders in Hollywood beginning in 1943, so the audio is therefore not always up to today's standards, but Brian Friedman mastered beautifully to get the most out of the material at hand (culled from auctions of Korla Pandit's Estate after his demise). Composer/keyboardist and student and friend of Korla Pandit, Verne Langdon, is listed as the producer - job well done, Mr. Langdon (if memory serves, Verne Langdon also produced Remembering Korla Pandit for Dejavu Records). This double CD set is pricey, but well worth it at any cost! If you're the Tiki/lounge type, Korla Pandit Buried Treasure/Juan Rolando Cocktail Hour is for you!

I didn't know what to expect when I first got the cd in the mail. I have a newborn that just will not go to sleep no matter what I try. I've looked around and spent hundreds of dollars on gadgets claiming to be sleeping aids for infants, and all I got in return was a huge visa bill at the end of the month. Then I stumbled upon Baby Sleep Sweet because a friend recommended it to me and what a pleasant surprise. The music is absolutely enchanting. There aren't that many cd's out there for babies, and when you find one, they tend to be a little too new age for my taste. Baby Sleep Sweet gets it right, and will also take you back in time to when we all use to be in our parent's loving arms! ahh the good old days!

Arriving just in time for new babies everywhere, Sleep Baby Sweet is a one-hour-plus original suite written especially for nodding wee ones. One of the most imaginitive musical recordings in children's music history, composer Verne Langdon performs this unique baby suite on perhaps the most unique of all keyboard instruments, a sugar-plum-fairy "celestial celeste" (you don't often hear this instrument featured "en solo"). Perfect music for little one's naptime, though an adult would have no problem dozing to this musical gem either. The suite is movingly childlike in it's ever-so-peaceful construction; really a must for baby's first days, months, and years. Better than a music box, and easier to save and hand down to the next generation. Baby Sleep Sweet is over an hour of sweetness new baby (and the rest of the world) surely needs on a daily basis.
