"The Heart's Journey" not only raises the ceiling for Hypnosis and Guided Meditation work; this CD shatters that ceiling.
Product Description
From an island off the beautiful Washington coastline comes an ambitious new project, Ron Stubbs' "The Heart's Journey". This unique album combines noted clinical hypnotherapist and instructor Ron Stubbs' narration with the music of acclaimed keyboardist and composer Laurie Z to create an incredibly powerful relaxation experience. The story that is unveiled is universal in our age. It describes the journey of a man who grows up beside a beach, relishing and treasuring the plants, animals and nature. As he grows older and life becomes more fast paced and stress filled, his love for the beach diminishes. He packs a bag full of all the essential items that he believes he needs for a journey. A Journey of the Heart, to capture what he has lost in life. As he finds his answers, you may just find your answers also
. Ron Stubbs places the listener in a relaxed, hypnotic state, then through the use of storytelling and metaphor, provides a comfortable environment in which tension and anxiety can be released. Many listeners with physical aliments affected by stress find themselves relaxed and uplifted by this album. The score created by composer Laurie Z specially to accompany Ron's Narration provides a lush backdrop for the piece. To further the meditative state following "The Heart's Journey" story, Laurie Z's music provides the beautiful second track on this CD, bringing the total CD time to just under one hour.

Soothing.......2007-07-12
I used various tracks from this CD for a Cub Scout ceremony and it really set the mood..I searched on Amazon for 3 hours trying to find the right drum music and this is certainly it !
Very good new age-native fusion.......2005-06-10
Discount the self-important blather from "professional" drummers and First Nation/Capitolized Ethnic Group people you see here and buy this CD if you enjoy better quality new age music in a native vein. This CD and its highly successful predecessor was NEVER meant to be a hard-core exploration of genuine Native American drumming, flute or chanting, though it masterfully incorporates such music alongside other simple nativist percussion. Yes, persons looking outside the world music (or new age) genres for actual Native chanting and drumming may be disappointed, but it never hurts to open your ears to new things. But if that's too hard and you crave the "real thing," may I suggest Tokeya Inajin, Dik Darnell or Carlos Nakai.
EARTH CENTERED MUSIC.......2005-04-28
I HEARD THIS CD IN A SPIRITUAL SERVICE. I ENJOYED IT! I SEARCH IN THE WEB AND I BOUGHT IT! I LISTEN IT IN THE CAR OR WHEN I WANT TO FEEL MY SELF "EARTH CENTERED". REALLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR "DRUMS" LIKE IN LATIN MUSIC, MODERN MUSIC, IT ISNT.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SOFT/ACTIVE RELAXING MUSIC, SO THAT YOU CAN FEEL ONE WITH THE EARTH, AND YOU GET FLASH BACK OF OTHER PRIMITIVES TIMES, THIS IS FOR YOU. THAT'S MY EXPERIENCE.
Indian Welk.......2004-10-18
Although this may sound pleasant to some people I would imagine it's an insult to others. Just another example of the exploitation of the true Americans. It's like there was a Lawrance Welk of native American music only worse. An equivelant might be buying a Metallica cd and hearing Madonna music coming from the speakers. You expected something with some real spirit but you got watered down syrupy bubblegum music instead. It's not the real thing. Besides that I'm a professional drummer, and I'm definitly not impressed with the drumming. But having said that, if you just want some pop music to listen to and delude yourself that your listening to real native American music then this is for you.
It would probably be better to rename it and put a different picture on the cover that would be less insulting to the people it's making a mockery of and more suitable to the disco minded crowd it's apparently trying to foster.
Sacred Spirit Drums.......2004-04-28
My husband is First Nation and has played on traditional Pow Wow drums. The music on this CD seems very contrived. I think it is better to get real First Nation drum music rather than to turn it into this unrecognizable, synthesized and distorted electronic sound. It is being "passed off" as Native. To me it it is not Native. It sounded, well, sorry, but, it sounded tacky. I don't know if Mr. Gordon is First Nation. Some of it even seems to be somewhat African, which would be appropriate if it where meant to be African in nature. But, all in all, it's far to "Hollywood" for me. And we all know how "Hollywood" has mis-informed the world about our First Nation's history. But, I guess the bottom line for the producers of this type of CD is - this stuff sells.
The drum is the heartbeat of Mother Earth. Her heart is not heard with this rendition.

If the basic thematic elements of this Bruce Willis star vehicle--American military unit gets cut off behind enemy lines in a guerilla-besieged African backwater--have parallels with Ridley Scott's fierce, unrelenting Black Hawk Down, composer Hans Zimmer (who scored both films) has conjured an entirely different musical soul for this adventure. Where his Black Hawk score turned on a gritty, often violent clash of musical cultures, his work here is richly introspective and tinged with a mature sense of melancholy. African rhythms and melodic elements bubble to the surface throughout, but in subtly powerful ways that often recall the best of Peter Gabriel's world music ventures. Zimmer has again impressively expanded his repertory company approach to scoring as well, with veteran collaborators Lisa Gerrard and Heitor Pereira joined here by Steve Jablonsky, Andreas Vollenweider and Lebo M. (who's written and performed the score's passages of African poetry). The result is a moody, evocative score whose quiet grace recalls the composer's masterful work for The Thin Red Line; another satisfying tribute to the power of musical understatement. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
A Great Addition to My Hans Zimmer Collection.......2006-07-24
I am a HUGE fan of Hans Zimmer so this review may be slightly skewered but I feel this is a wonderful edition to my collection. Strange as this sounds, Mr. Zimmer and war go together like butter and toast, so picking this soundtrack up was a no-brainer.
I would have to say that his work on Tears of the Sun does not dig very deep into the well. These tracks could very easily be confused for missing tracks from The Lion King but given how that wonderful score was never released in its entirety, it is still a wonderful listening experience. As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
The music is very reminiscent of his work on Black Hawk Down and Gladiator. If you enjoyed both of those scores, I would definately recommend this one as well. It is a very good CD and worth my hard-earned money. I hope you agree...
Not as good as i thought it would be.......2006-02-01
I expected more african vocals in it.. thats the main reason i brought the cd, i recently became a fan of that kind of music.. it had like 3 songs on there that i liked, besides that this album is garbage
Tears of the Sun - lacking.......2005-08-03
Harsh words but I suppose I expected the music to be stronger than it was....
Not easily enjoyed, but remarkable.......2005-04-06
I have to say, I didn't know what to expect from this score. Had it been released in the mid-to-late 90's, I would have expected a blustering action score with several Media Ventures-style anthems. But then Zimmer did something different than usual with "Gladiator", and did something WAY different with "Black Hawk Down", not to mention his somber work on "The Thin Red Line." In the past few years, it's been hard to figure out what to expect from Mr. Z. WHat he gives us a here is a blend of many of his trademark sounds. The African influence from "Power of One" and "Lion King", Lisa Gerards's vocals from "Gladiator", the sad strings of "The Thin Red Line", the harsh electronics of "Black Hawk Down", and even one of Zimmer's famous action anthems. Zimmer is listed as the primary composer, but there are many contributions to the album from Lebo M, Steve Jablonsky, Jeff Rona, and others. The aspect of "Tears of the Sun" that impresses me the most is the production work. Just listen to track four and marvel at the array of ethnic and unique sounds Zimmer thrusts into his massive soundscape. To date, this is one of the best-produced albums I've heard. Like "The Thin Red Line", it's more about atmosphere than themes, but there are themes here. The main theme is inspirational, and is heard best in tracks three (on strings), six (with a male choir and Lisa Gerard), and especially track ten (as a joyous song celebration led by Lebo M with an African choir). Also impressive is the action piece heard in track nine, a relentlessly agressive epic that's preceded by a lovely and (much as I hate to use this cliched word) haunting orchestral prelude accompanied by Gerard's voice. There are parts of "Tears of the Sun" that may sound harsh to the ears on a first listen, but this is an album that you can't help but appreciate and admire, whether or not you like it. Zimmer fans all ready have it by now, but everyone else may want to listen to the avaliable sound clips before deciding to purchase it, as this sort of score is an acquired taste.
Hans Zimmer's brilliance coupled African Poetry of LEBO M.......2004-10-26
I have always been a Bruce Willis fan. So where on God's earth was I when this film was made and showing in the theatres? It must, surely, be one of the best movies he's made. I had no idea it even existed. I bought the DVD from a small Gameforce in Saint Louis, Missouri. And that only because it starred Bruce Willis.
I am a South African living in America and have been starved of good African music for a while. As a Lebo M fan, I was totally surprised to hear, what I was sure was his wonderfully passionate voice coming through the theme music at the end of the movie. WHAT A DELIGHT!. I sat glued, watching the credits as they rolled, being so sure that was Lebo M's voice. The last I heard from Lebo M was his CD "Deeper Meaning". It brought back wonderful memories. I have read through most of the reviews and was amused at Lee from San Fransico's review. However, I suppose if I didn't have the African heritage, I would, most probably felt the same as Lee did. But Lee, his voice BELONGED in that song. Lebo M is at his most passionate best at the end of the film with the African Poetry theme. You don't have to have been born and raised in Africa to appreciate passion in anyone's voice, but it was that passion that drew me to Lebo M in the first place a few years ago. He is highly underated, as far as I am concerned, in the African music field. The movie gripped me to the core and Hans Zimmer's spectacular score was riveting. It finished the film wonderfully for me. But it was Lebo M that polished it. I hope this artist, who is also well known for his disco type style of music, which I don't like, goes a long way in the world of movie soundtrack for this type of movie. I think it's time I listened to "The Lion King" soundtrack too. I think I'm getting old. I have missed some good music and some good films since I came to live in this wonderful country called America. But, I hope it's OK that I get homesick....just every once in a while.
The story line in this film has prompted me to recommend a book written by a black American journalist, Keith B. Richburg, called "Out of America". Anyone who doubts the veracity of the violence portrayed in this movie should read this book. One of the last things he says in the book is "Thank God my ancestor got out".

Fantastic performances........2005-05-02
"Maldoror" is a unique concept, producer Michael Montes put text rom Comte de Lautreamont in front of Friedlander-- the master cellist read the text and improvised what he saw. The results are nothing short of breathtaking.
If you're not familiar with Friedlander's work with John Zorn and others, you're likely in for quite a pleasant surprise-- I can think of very few musicians I have had the pleasure of hearing who possess such a stunning command of their instrument as Friedlander does. His technique is overwhelming, particularly in pizzicato, and as an improviser, he is agile and inventive. These lead to the great strength of this record, namely that Friedlander can through his technique express something much more visceral than one would expect from any musical performance.
The improvisations are largely oriented on texture and space, whether arco or pizzicato-- each note counts, as does each lack of note. Friedlander may have an overwhelming technique, but what makes both him and this recording brilliant is his ability to make decisions about when to show it and when not to. "The Wind Groans", for example, is better served by long tones and understated delivery, to meet the mood of the piece he read, then it is by any show of powerful playing.
For fans of improvised music and virtuoso performance, this album is essential. Highly recommended.
Dark, Weird & Accessible.......2004-01-12
I bought this because I saw a piece on Erik and this record in the Wire, a magazine I really trust. And though it's not the kind of thing I usually pick up, I love Maldoror. It consists of dark and atmospheric cello scraping, bowing, plucking, and pulling -- all improvised. I know, I know, it sounds like it'd be really weird and inaccessible, but there's something about Friedlander's sense of melody, his technique, and his ability to compose on the fly that makes this a record a classy little thing. It makes me think of dark moments, French films, and John Coltrane's best work. Try it. You'll like it.

Album Description
DOWNTOWN...Journey of a Heart is a musical journey, a collection of new recordings of John Waite's greatest hits, including a stunning duet with Alison Krauss on a new rendition of the radio staple "Missing You," plus extraordinary re-recordings of other songs John made famous such as The Babys' "Isn't It Time" and Bad English's "When I See You Smile." Waite also adds an infectious version of Bob Dylan's "Highway 61," and the sweeping balladry of "St. Patrick's Day" and 'New York City Girl."
Customer Reviews:
Maybe for JW fans but I love this!.......2007-07-28
I have been a JW fan since Missing You/Tears (and then went back to The Babys and forward to Bad English etc.) and I totally love this release. I appreciate that there is little in the way of new material here but I really enjoy the remakes/different takes on some of the classics.
JW's voice has lost none of its sparkle and there are some great (and poignant) moments here. I am suprised at the negative comments by other reviewers, I am more excited by this JW release than I have been since Rovers Return! And this is a much better record too.
Give it a chance!
Huh??.......2007-05-08
I am actually writing this review before I have heard the entire CD. I just need to know why this is the third straight disc that contains "NYC Girl" & "Keys To Your Heart". I don't get this at all. His last album had 5 repeat songs from the one preceding that, and now this one repeats some of them again. Maybe after his nect release, I will be able to compile a complete disc of new material.
Time for some new music.......2007-04-06
I am a self-professed John Waite devotee and own most everything he's done (except for the impossible-to-find King Biscuit Flower Hour CD) in his various incarnations. I'm disappointed to see the second straight "new" album with next to zero new tracks (the one real exception being St. Patrick's Day). This is the same problem I had with "The Hard Way" which had one new song, one new instrumental, and an acoustic version of "Missing You" along with reissues of other material. Great if you're an enthusiast, but otherwise, keep your fingers crossed we'll actually get some NEW material from John at some point soon!
The Return Of John Waite.......2007-02-05
Throughout a long, successful solo career and stints as front man for The Babys and Bad English (both represented here by remakes) John Waite has sparkled with a voice that was sweet and strong but prone to bombast and going too far over the top. But time has taken it's toll - he now seems overwhelmed by the rockers such as "Hard Way" and "Headfirst" (which sounds like a Foreigner cast-off). And yet the trade-off is that he has learned restraint and it pays off with lovely ballads such as "Saint Patrick's Day", "New York City Girl" and "In Dreams." The bold decision to remake his signature song "Missing You" with Allison Krauss gives us a new look at the old song, the restraint and lovely blending of voices giving the song a wistfulness whereas it usually done as anger. Sadly, the Bob Dylan "Highway 61 Revisited" doesn't work on any level. Sadder yet, shred John's voice a little and this becomes a Rod Stewart album from the Downtown Girls period. Despite some highlights, generally this is a disappointment.
Worth listening to for JW fans.......2007-01-28
While there are no new materials in this album, remaking of some of the songs are definitely worth listening to for JW fans. When Bad English albums are selling for pennies these days, one should not expect a huge success from remaking of Bad English songs like When I see you smile. However, as a long time Bad English and JW fan, I have no complaints. Missing You featuring Allison Krauss is definitely worth listening to.

A soulful, eclectic collection of chants and songs, chosen for their capacity to inspire and uplift. Beautiful vocals, combined with lush instrumental backgrounds including piano, harp, guitar, hand drums and choral vocals. Co-producer and arranger Russell Walden contributes keyboard and piano tracks, as well as harmony vocals on many of the songs. Eddie Daniels, internationally known clarinetist, is a guest artist on the track "Only Make Believe". In addition, a host of gifted Santa Fe musicians (including Shaina's husband, Richard) contribute instrumentals and back-up vocals. Lyrics include:

Some of the most uplifting and inspiring music you'll ever hear.......2005-08-30
On her second release, Shaina Noll has compiled ten beautiful, inspiring and uplifting songs, which she performs with sincerity, conviction and passion. Her love for her listeners is palpable throughout each piece. As Shaina has said, these ten songs are pieces, which helped her on her own personal journey, and I am sure they will nurture and inspire anyone who takes the time to listen. Just open your heart, relax, and allow the positive messages and majestic power of these songs to course through you.
Each song contains beautiful orchestrations, exceedingly powerful lyrics, and messages of love, healing and unity. They teach us to honor mother earth, all her inhabitants, and ourselves. Shaina has a warm, rich and highly expressive voice sent straight from Heaven, and sure to sooth your soul. The variety of material here is fantastic... from the reflective and encouraging "Brother Warrior", to the achingly lovely "Only Make Believe" and the delightfully soulful final track, "Sometimes It's Easy", every song presented is a gem, sparkling with vibrancy, intensity and power! This is music that simply must be heard, felt, and lived! This is one musical journey you truly should not miss!!! Allow Shaina and this exceptional music to guide, encourage and inspire you. I am a better person for having listened. Thank you, Shaina, from the bottom of my heart. I can't recommend this album highly enough! Please, "Listen, Listen!"
GREAT.......2002-03-19

THANKS Shaina
Shaina's second CD is richer, fuller, deeper.......2000-06-13
As a long time fan of "Songs for the Inner Child," I was eager to hear her second release, "Bread for the Journey." The moods on this CD are much more diverse, ranging from the very powerful and soothing "Brother Warrior" to some very playful, upbeat songs. (It did take me a little adjusting, as the mood on her first CD is more single note.) My most surprising favorite is "On a Clear Day." This is a song I had heard many times, but never actually listened to! Shaina's version carries so beautifully the energy and message of this song: On a clear day...you can see who you really are. The produciton values here are much improved, and for me this increase in professional sound quality only adds to the synchrony of Shaina's lovely voice and the heart-felt songs.

Great Buy.......2005-07-03
I just saw Mountain Heart in Concert and it was awesome. This cd is great and the band is awesome. Some of the best bluegrass in the land. They are rocking and pickin to great times. Listen, believe, and dance to the music of Mountain Heart.
Can't get any better!.......2004-02-10
See my review of their new album, "No Other Way." This is an outstanding group with a genuine love for Jesus that shines through every note. You'll get a kick out of "Travelin' Shoes," as well as their wonderful a capella, "Gospel Train." You'll be moved to tears as you realized the full impact of the words to, "The Scars in His Hands." This group truly puts God first, and it shows. If you know anyone who is a fan of bluegrass Gospel, give them this album. It's a gem.
An album for fans to sing and shout about!.......2003-06-13
Mountain Heart formed in 1998 when Adam Steffey, Steve Gulley, Barry Abernathy, Jimmy Van Cleve and Johnny Dowdle got together. When Steffey left, Alan Perdue took over mandolin duties. What experience and credentials these rising stars have! Guitarist Steve Gulley worked for 15 years at Renfro Valley (a Kentucky music park), and he appears on three albums with Doyle Lawson. Banjo-player Barry Abernathy has picked with Silver Creek, III Tyme Out, and Doyle Lawson. Fiddler Jimmy Van Cleve has played with Rambler's Choice, Doyle Lawson, Ric-O-Chet, and Lou Reid and Carolina.
In 1999, Mountain Heart released their first album and won the IBMA award for "Emerging Artist of the Year." Jason Moore is the band's bass player. This album's title represents the band's strong devotion and relationship with God. Their splendid presentation indicates a strong commitment to both their music and their ministry.
Their excellent material is derived from various sources, and includes some original compositions such as thoughtful "The Scar in His Hands" and bluesy "John." The latter includes guest artists Jim Hurst (guitar), Missy Raines (bass), and Rob Ickes (dobro) with Gulley and Abernathy. The album's leadoff cut, "Wings of Love," is a bouncy, banjo-driven, call-and-response number about being carried away to mansions bright by the shining throne. A special treat on this album is Mountain Heart's a cappella rendition of "The Gospel Train," which is clear demonstration of the band's wonderous vocal delivery and proficiency. Another a cappella offering, "Travelin Shoes," is also grand.
The band is equally comfortable with taking contemporary Christian music and adapting it to their format, with pieces like the album's nearly 9-minute reflective closer, "Not Long For This Earth," which also guests Jeff Taylor (piano) and Robbie Link (bass, cello). This kind of slow, prolonged number, however, just doesn't do a lot for me, and perhaps the arrangement could have been shortened. The banjo is put into a modal tuning to give an old-timey sound to "The Hill Lone and Gray." Carl Jackson's "There's a Higher Power" and James Cooke's "What a Time in Heaven" have great gospel bluegrass feelings to them.
This is a very professionally presented stellar package of the best in bluegrass gospel music today. "The Journey," Mountain Heart's second album ever produced as a band, certainly was deserving of the IBMA award for Gospel Recording of the Year in 2002. The repertoire, arrangements, picking, and singing are something for fans to sing and shout about! (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)
Whew!.......2003-02-08
It just doesn't get any better than this! The harmonies are perfect, the instruments are true, the songs are magnificent! If you could only buy one Gospel Bluegrass CD in the entire world, then this is the one! It reminds me of when I was a little boy at my Grandma's, waiting for breakfast to get done, while she played gospel bluegrass on her radio as loud as it would play. I think it will take you to pleasant memories, or make'em for you.
Awesome CD.......2001-10-31
This CD is Awesome. It has great music and keeps your toes tapping.

Product Description
This CD offers a spoken word guided journey by Cathy Chapman, PhD, followed by an original song sung by Shaina Noll and her husband, Richard. The total experience is designed to take you through a gentle, yet powerful re-creation of the beginning of your life. Although most of us don't consciously recall our conception, gestation and birth, they can have a profound effect on our experience of life. Whatever your experience may have been, Cathy offers a supportive guided journey to help you re-create the foundations of your life as deeply secure and filled with love. At the end of this journey, the loving voices of Shaina and Richard Noll will embrace you with an affirming song of welcome to the world. The intent of the CD is to offer you a deeply healing and transformative experience, a journey that you can take again and again, with far-reaching benefits in your life.
Customer Reviews:
Very healing CD.......2007-05-24
This CD has been profoundly moving and healing for me. Each time I listen to it I have a different experience, starting with my first time when I sobbed the whole way through just digesting the images of unconditional love surrounding my journey from conception to birth! Repeated listenings have sometimes been drier but no less embracing and healing. I would recommend this for anyone on a journey of inner healing, anyone reaching for a deeper sense of safety and belonging in the world, anyone wanting greater freedom from unconscious, limiting patterns. Both the spoken words and the music work powerfully to support a sense of welcome and unconditional love. The music Shaina and Richard created is, as usual, beautifully done from beginning to end. I expect to wear out my copy!

Album Description
Allow the heartfelt melodies of Marina Raye's native flutes to draw you into an exquisite world of peace, compassion and bliss. A full-spectrum journey with shimmering keyboard textures and the harmony of nature. Perfect for meditation, massage, yoga or peaceful introspection.
Customer Reviews:
Perfect for Yoga.......2004-03-07
I use Marina Raye's music in my yoga classes and I find it perfect to create an atmosphere of introspection and harmony. The peaceful sound of the flute stills the mind without effort.
And, contrary to some of the other cd's I own, the high pitched tone of the flute never becomes boring or irritating.
There are no big differences in melody or rythm between the tracks, which makes this cd very suitable for a yoga class.
MUST HAVE.......2004-03-05
From the first owl hoot to the last quivering breath of her deep and resonant F#, marina raye transports the spirit into new dimensions on her Blissful Journey. Marina is truly unique among native american style flautists. She leaves behind the chirps and whoops of fancy fingering to use her own breath to hold and sustain you peacefully in "the best vibrato in the business". She breathes deeply to play, and so you do, too when you listen. She lets notes linger in the air, shivering slowly and peacefully. I guarantee, this will put you into a state of deep relaxation and meditation faster than any other CD!
Blissful Journey.......2003-07-18
Marina Raye's "Blissful Journey" was introduced to me in a massage session. Its soothing, healing, uplifting quality made it a CD I wanted for my own. Since acquiring "Blissful Journey," I have collected all of Marina's recordings and eagerly look forward to each new one. Her simple, pure sound is excellent for meditation. It is also a favorite with guests as background music.

Customer Reviews:
Awesome Worship CD.......2007-04-26
This whole CD is truly anoited by God. It ushers you into the presence ogf God. You know how the bible saids in John 4:24 and they that worship Him, must worship Him, in spirit, and in truth. This CD is nothing but the truth of the word of God in song. You can tell that it was birthed out of a spirit of worship and surrender to the Most High God!!!! I recommend this CD to the Body of Christ. The song Your Mercy serves as a reminder to the believer.

A New Sound in Worship Music.......2007-03-13
An excellent CD with beautiful anointed, worship songs. My favorite, Your Mercy; however the entire CD is worthy of high praise. I first discovered this song one night while sleeping. I had fallen asleep with the t.v. on and I was awakened to a beautiful love song (Your Mercy). I immediately ordered the CD...the entire CD has blessed my soul.
"Your Mercy".......2003-01-26
Have you ever heard a song that just made your soul feel butterflies in your stomach? That's what happened to me while listening to "your mercy" by Blessed. That song just makes me feel sooo good inside, and let me know everytime that Jesus is Lord! I just love that song.
Von'sViews.......2002-12-05
There is something about the song " Your Mercy". I can't really explain the feeling I get when I hear it. BUt I do no all my worries and fears are cast a side, and it gives me a reassurng feeling that god is always by my side.
