About the Artist
With an impressive approach to acoustic classical/jazz guitar and a remarkable gift for entertaining, Scott Whitney's music can be found in thousands of homes around the world.

Product Description
Based on the notion that a comfortable environment fuels creativity, the Guitjazzathon CD was recorded in a very laid-back style. Most songs were recorded in just a couple of hours, with a focus on spontaneity, versus perfection.

The eleven works on this CD offer a sweeping example of Scott's varied interest in guitar playing/composition. Tastes of funk and classical guitar, along with a steady stream of soothing jazz, join an impressive group of latin/bossa-nova/spanish-styled songs.

While listening to the Guitjazzathon CD, think of yourself eavesdropping on an impromptu session, sitting next to Scott, enjoying your private performance. You'll hear Scott's fingers moving across the strings. You'll experience Scott's improvisational approach captured in the moment. And you'll find yourself experiencing a very intimate presentation of great guitar music. His playful approach to the guitar is evident throughout the Guitjazzathon CD, making for a thoroughly entertaining musical experience.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Guitjazzathon is the most innovative sound in years........2003-08-17

I have been listening to jazz music for years with guitar as my favorite instrument for this genre. I especially like the sound of a nylon string guitar with this style of music. What Scott Whitney has brought is a unique combination of contemporary jazz, fusion, progressive, flamenco with every song having its own style. I enjoyed this CD so much, I have also purchased both Christmas albums and can't wait until this talented artist produces more CD's. Thank you Scott for you talent and innovation(s).

4 out of 5 stars Guitjazzathon paints multi-coloured landscapes........2003-08-13

I really like this CD. It's an upbeat, superbly played, collection of Latin, Classic and Rock-influenced Jazz.
I like a CD that takes me on a journey and provides changes in pace and mood, and Guitjazzathon does just that. Whitney sounds like a cross between Pat Martino and Tuck Andress with an extra dash of jalapenos. A great CD to listen to while you're polishing your motorcycle or watching the sun go down.
Some of the tunes gave me that euphoric feeling I get after putting a new set of strings on my guitar.

5 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Collection..........2003-08-13

This album contains a great variety of acoustic guitar compositions. Whether you make it your focal point of listening or let the music drift in the background, this CD is perfect for whatever mood it catches you in. I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars If you love jazz and acoustic guitar music, you'll love it!.......2003-08-13

This CD is very good. The combination of songs and the way Scott Whitney plays them makes for a very enjoyable CD. Look for his Christmas CD's, too. They are awesome!

5 out of 5 stars Engaging From Note ONE!.......2003-08-12

The beauty of Scott Whitney's composing and playing is that it doesn't require categorization. It's just good music. His style is original and successfully merges the variety of influences he's had. Jazz? Classical? Latin? It's all blended on Guitjazzathon in a sound that keeps you engaged from note one, all the way through to the final beat on the final track.
