Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Artists, D.G. Slim (a.k.a. Mr. Knock-off), Anthis (the young assassin), and J.P. (revenue) are just a few of the voices that command the audience attention and resonate with their familiar experiences. The Album, rightfully called " The Hard Life, Vol. 1" is about just that. "Elevation is about the hard life, but it's more of a movement," says producer Jason Walker. "The Real definition of a thug is coming from a hard life. Being a thug was like a fad. Everyone can relate to a hard life, even people with money can have a hard life."
Product Description
"The album took a year and a half to complete, but it was worth it," adds Walker. The beats are a diverse mix of hard-core rap, hip-hop, R&B, jazz and classic funk. Walker went out of his way to find professional musicians. "My goal is to give the West Coast a new sound, something they haven't heard before, but something that blends hard-core rap with the jazzy sophistication of a city like San Francisco. Our music will appeal to a wide audience. We've got a song for the hustlers (add song titles), a song for the ladies, for the thugs, and even for the pimps." But that's not all Elevation is about. "We encourage our listeners to elevate from their current situation through the music. Just because you came from the hard life doesn't mean you can't elevate to something better. That's what I've done and that's what we're encouraging other to do."- Jason Walker, Executive Producer, Elevation Records, Inc.
