About the Artist
Henry McIntosh is a composer, guitarist, drummer, synthesist, producer, and engineer originally from North Carolina. He began his performance career with the bands After Sinai, Fingerpaint, and the Tellers. After moving to San Francisco in 1994, he worked with Joseph Mitchell to form Whole Sky Music, writing music for multimedia. In 1998, he co-produced David Forrest's album "Francesca's Comet", as well as playing all drums, electric guitars and basses. He has also produced records for Dennis Williams and Thomas Aicher and engineered work for the group Groove Chapel.
Because of his interest in musical hybrids, Henry has studied many musics of the world, mixing elements of electronic, ambient, avant-garde, americana, folk, jazz, rock, and native american styles to forge his own unique voice. He also developed an atmospheric guitar effects system known as the Pompeii Guitar.
In 1999, he founded artofthesun.com as a "Creative Collective" of like-minded independent artists with a goal of breaking down barriers of communication between artists through the suspension of the ego and the elimination of artistic competition.
