About the Artist
Father John Graden belongs to the community of the Oblaes of St. Francis de Sales, and currently lives and ministers out of Toledo, Ohio. He was ordained a priest in 1976 and has, since 1988, been involved in a creative preaching ministry: parish retreats and missions, workshops and speaking engagements, involvement in third world missions, writing and recording relaxing and exercising meditations on cassete and CD.
David Phillips is family man and a parish music and liturgy minister in Eugene, Oregon. In recent years, David has been doing much recording and composing, and after hearing one of Father Graden's recordings, sent him CD's of his own work and wondered whether a collaborative venture would be desirable. The first result was "Peace of Mind: Spiritual Counsel from Francis de Sales." David releases his work through GENTLE SPIRIT MUSIC PRODUCTIONS in Eugene.
Featuring: David Phillips on various keyboard tracks and Aaron Doughan, percussion.

Peace of Mind - Spiritual Counsel by St. Francis deSales -.......2000-12-27
This CD is a spiritual enhancement of my quiet time with the Lord. It is also a connection of my real life to my real faith, which is easy to forget when one gets bumped around in the real world.
The combination of the music background and the reassuring voice of John Graden speaking truths of midieval faith that remain timeless and appropriate in our "modern" 20-21st century lives.
Fear is one of the greatest blocks to the sunlight of the Spirit. And returning to this CD in a spirit of quiet reassurance or in one of fearful distress always pulls me to the center of the truth of God's love for me.
In it I find relaxation, reassurance, calming, and "reordering" of any straying thoughts that make me less than I am -- a beloved child of God.
This CD is excellent for spiritual maintenance -- it is great for a shot in the arm preventative of worldly woes -- it is appropriate as a gift for some friend experiencing a loss or a difficult time in any area of their life. It is a treat for yourself when you want to do something nice for little ole' you.
Francis deSales believed in the holiness and mission of "regular, lay people (not those dedicated to the religious life or the clergy) and his words are directed to all of us in the mainstream of life who have the challenge of finding meaning and holiness in both the "humdrum" and the challenges life presents to us -- all as one big gift returned to God.
This album shines the light on the way to be this gift to God.
Excellent meditation album.......1999-08-12
