Editorial Reviews
Product Description
You will never find another kirtan recording by a North American like this!! This recording was done in India with Ma surrounded by some of her regular Indian kirtan musicians playing sarangi, tabla, khol (an ancient earthen drum), manjeera (hand cymbals) and bansi (bamboo flute); as well as other traditional North Indian kirtan instruments. An Udasin sannyasini, fluent in Hindi, familiar with Hindustani music, Ma has spent more than 20 years jamming with Indian musicians - as perhaps no other Westerner has done. This album reflects the authentic sound of Indian kirtan with Ma's own moving, dynamic style. The jacket notes are very interesting - Ma describes the circumstances and origin of each kirtan, complete with detailed English translations. Ma`s bhaav (emotional devotion) reverberates in her unusual, beautiful voice. Ma has touched the hearts of hundreds of people all over the world. You have to hear this one!
