Tidings of Joy is an EverSound production, making a bid for the coziest offering in seasonal easy listening. Traditional carols and hymnodies are treated to modern arrangements that dabble in the styles of smooth jazz, neo-classical, world-beat, New Age, ambient, and adult contemporary vocal. True to form, this collection is long on tinkling bells, soothing harmonies, gentle strings, and piano. Take for instance, the delicately merry "The First Noel," which manages to pull together elements of traditional harmony, Spanish classical guitar, and brightly toned piano. "Coventry Carol" is mystical and reverent, utilizing Celtic harp and flute and choral harmonies. And the syncopated rhythms and woodwinds of "We Three Kings" recall at once the gypsies of Eastern Europe, Egyptian royalty, and the sand cowboys of the Arabian Desert dancing round a fire. Great instrumentals and vocals.......2003-12-04

You can't help but like this collection of Christmas songs done in a very creative and beautiful manner. There is a wide variety of musical talent offered up here on instruments and vocals. This music will make you feel good. Also check out "Christmas" by Ed Gerhard, another musical masterpiece.

As a collector of holiday music from all fields, I ws struck by the refreshingly original arrangements of "Tidings of Joy". With music from artists around the globe, and ranging from New Age to Jazz to purely classical, this is an album that captures the essence of great Christmas music.

Beautiful renditions of classic Xmas songs.......1999-11-24

A very beautiful rendition of Xmas music. I usually do not like holiday music, but this is very different. The classic tunes take a different and exicting shape without compromising the originals. Specially I enjoyed much the track by Manuel Iman. A must for that special festive feeling. Mostly recommended.
