With For Me, It's You Train officially takes up residence in the big, wide space 20 and 30-somethings fall into when they no longer dig the Maroon 5's of the world, but have yet to settle in with an all-serious, all-the-time artist like David Gray. Frothy this record is not, yet from the Keane-ish opener, to the Coldplay-inspired anthem "Get Out," to the kicked-up '70s bar jam "Am I Reaching You Now," to the wrenching power ballad "Always Remember," written for a lost loved one, it's catchy as hell. Climb aboard, the bright guitars and pulsing keyboards blithely suggest, and forget for a minute that Train isn't quite the musical flavor of the month. Emo haircuts, skinny ties, and electrobeats never quite fit this band, and the fivesome is not about to make room for them in the overhead storage bin now. If you don't love them for it, on the strength of this mighty effort, you'll at least respect them. -Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Not as good as Drop of Jupiter but still a great cd........2007-07-16
I didn't think this cd was as good as drops of Jupiter but, as one reviewer said give it a few more goes and you will see it really isn't that bad of a cd.
No Charlie Colin.......2007-05-01
Although with their increased success Train's albums have progressively become more produced and poppish, until this album I haven't really complained. They still were churning out great songs with a distinctive style. I think here however they have taken a step backward. Pat Monahan's gritty vocals continue shine as always, and there are good melodies and riffs but... something critical is missing!
After purchasing the album I was extremely disappointed to discover the absence of Charlie Colin and to me it is a glaring deficiency. Not that Johnny Colt is a bad bass player, but I have always thought that Colin's playing was very much a key part of Train's signature sound. His unobtrusive melodic grooves were what hooked me on the band the first time I heard the song "Free" on the radio. "Meet Virginia" was smoking! Even on the more polished "My Private Nation" he continued to lend his signature voice (albeit a little more subtly).
Now instead, we have mostly standard radio fair with typical eighth note rock grooves. Whenever Train deviates from this pattern on "For Me It's You", we have more effective compositions such as on "Am I Reaching You Now". Other inspired numbers include "Shelter Me" and "I'm Not Waiting in Line" (seeing some Black Crowes' influence here).
Don't get me wrong. There are some really decent tunes here and as a fan of Train I'm happy to have the album in my collection. It will be interesting to see what direction they take after this. But I just can't help wishing the original lineup band could have stuck together.
disappointed.......2006-10-29
As a long time fan of Train, and owning all of their CD's, and seeing them perform in B'ham several times, I was very disappointed in this release. Not the Train I knew. Not at all up to what they have achieved in the past.
The Changing Train: A change for the worst.......2006-10-10
I have been a long time Train fan. I first heard them from the radio made song 'Calling All Angels' that originated from the 'My Private Nation' album. I thoroughly enjoyed 'Drops of Jupiter' and their live in concert album. I was anticipating this new album release with positive thoughts however after reading of some of the former original band members leaving and a few new faces I realised their would be changes, and changes to the sound and direction of the west coast soft rock band.
I am not that disappointed by this album as it is still listenable and there are a number of good songs. But the changes are clearly evident and the new band members have had their input. Pat Monahan's voice is still exceptional and has matured and he is the standout vocally in this release. But try as he might, Train has changed. First and foremost, this album sounds much more 'popish', gone are the soft rock melodies and the harmonics. Clearly the direction taken is to turn Train into a more acceptable pop group for listeners from the late 20's to early 40's.
Secondly only 3 songs on this album are above the 4 minute mark in length. Many songs are barely 3 minutes therefore this album plays pretty quickly. The piano is heard in several songs as a over-riding feature. And that entirely isn't a bad thing. Now for the good points to this album:
The good songs on this album that I enjoyed and liked were 'Give Myself To You' a romantic ballad with a pop feel, 'All I Hear' which is the only song that sounds similar to the former Train of prior albums. 'Explanation', a song that has a nice tune. In saying all I have said, this album is still listenable. I can understand Train moving on and changing as most bands do. I just wished that they didn't change too much as they did.
copy protected!???.......2006-08-23
First off I want to say that I think the CD is a great addition to Trains sound, I would recomend this disk to everyone. Its probably the only CD other than Emerson Harts awaited release, that is REAL Music and not nonsensical RAP or Grunge metal Noise.
However;Sony, In its infinite wisdom and greed has copy protected the disk, so you cant make a copy for your Vehicle, or add any of these songs to a best of Train compilation. Dont buy this CD and Boycott All sony products!

Majors for Minors - Classical Music Nursery Rhymes.......2002-04-27
I come from a classical music background and wish to congratulate the producers of this CD. For the first time ever, to my knowledge, here is a CD that's incredibly straightforward and extremely simple - perfect material for babies and young children. By no means a classical music masterpiece but the entire easiness and simplicity is perfect to ease any child into a positive state of mind as it does with my baby and toddler. For the Bambino's, I say this is a cut above Mozart. ( Give 4 stars)
Majors for Minors- classical music nursery rhymes.......2002-04-25
...My wife and I have used the Majors for Minors series for the last three years, we have two small children and can only praise the positive results our children have had from these CD'S.
I can only assume that G Spanos is a music academic and authority on classical music, however from what I know of the research that went into this series the mucis is purely a classical interpretation and the success is actually created by sound frequencies and specfic patterns which the producers have used.
The fact that the product uses digital instruments as opposed to authentic instruments from what I understand has no bearing on how this product works.
I admit as a lover of classical music myself that there is far supeior available, however as a product designed to calm and assist with active and passive situations during a childs daily life - there is nothing better in the market (from what we know of) and we have used many other products designed for this purpose wthout success!
My knowldege of Majors for Minors workings is probably better than most average person, due to the fact that when I was in the UK on business, I read an article in a London newspaper which gave detail on how the produsers of this product went about their research and they admitted that their compilations such as the nursery rhymes and the lullabies would sound rather monotonous to the average adult, however the effect on children under three is excellent.
We challenge G Spanos or any parent with young children to use this product and not experience the incredible benefits to their children as my wife and I have found. In fact we would go as far as saying that the principles of this product should try and do alot more to make Majors for Minors more known to the rest of the world.
Classical Music Nursery Rhymes.......2002-04-19
I bought this CD for my 5th child, who has special needs when he was 5yrs old. I had struggled with 5yrs of disturbed nights; frequently up for 2hr stretches. I would play it in the sitting room whilst cuddling/rocking my son. I would concentrate my mind on the music, rocking patting, walking in time with the beat, until he slept. Because my son frequently needs attention during the night he sleeps in our room, and for the last year or so whenever he wakes at night I play this music softly, it does not disturb my husband and it gives me a focus on which to concentrate instead of mulling over the day ahead or worrying about matters. It has been our nightly friend and companion. Please send us your comments about Majors for Minors.
AVOID THIS CD.......2002-03-11
DO NOT BUY THIS CD !! This cd purports to be Classical Music Nursery Rhymes. It is nursery rhyme melodies, but completely homogenized pablum. It is not classical, it is synthesizers - the worst kind of muzak versions, with the melodies practically hidden away in the synthesized "new age" (in the worst sense of the word) background/easy listening, mellow accompaniments. It might be ok for putting kids to sleep, but I can think of much better music to do that, that is real music. If you are looking for real versions of nursery rhyme melodies, this is NOT the cd to buy.

Customer Reviews:
One of my Favorite CDs.......2004-02-19
In this wonderful collection of Shakespeare settings, Mr. Rolfe-Johnson creates a magical atmosphere using his unbelievable musicality and gorgeous, gorgeous voice! The songs themselves range from the sweet and charming "No more Dams!" to the heavenly interpretation of "She Never Told Her Love", but for me the high point of the whole CD is his incredible performance of the early version of Vaughan Willams' "Orpheus with his Lute"...this song alone is worth the price of the album! Mr. Rolfe Johnson is truly one of the worlds most exquisite tenors! A must have for every fan of English Song!
Melodious Shakespeare.......2001-01-24
This CD consists of a collection of settings of Shakespearian lines by composers ranging from the 18th to the mid-20th centuries. It is an ideal vehicle for finding a new way to enjoy these writings of Shakespeare and also experience the work of a number of British composers, some well-known and some not so well-known

Davids new CD Let It Slide is new material and yet still has that Southern Blues sound that touches your heart, and makes you feel good. This is a new kind of an album for David, and he really put his soul in this CD. No wonder it reached #1 on the roots music charts.

My toddlers and I dance like crazy!.......2007-03-20
This CD is a huge hit with our family--the songs are catchy, memorable, and fun to dance to. If you like folk/bluegrass, buy it!
The cat came back again and again.......2006-03-02
I bought this CD for my 3yr daughter. She loves music and I wanted to expose her to different kinds in a kid friendly way. She absolutely loves it, I have constant requests for "The cat came back" song. I really enjoy it too. The whole CD is fun to listen to.
Not For Children Only.......2000-04-28
I checked this CD out of the library for my five year old but it quickly became one of my favorites (I'm forty!). Very well done.
Folk fun.......1999-01-23
David Holt is a consummate performer, master of banjo, guitar, spoons and a wonderful drum suit. This cd shows how much fun music can be. On the cut I Got A Bullfrog he and the band burst into spontaneous laughter twice- when I last saw him he said he left the outtake on to let the audience know what a good time he has performing. The cuts Aint No Bugs On Me and Doodle Daddle Day are light and footstomping good! The whole tape will delight children of all ages.
