About the Artist
Peter Edwards was born in the country town of Wallingford, England, just 50 miles northeast of the mystical Stonehenge. As a child he often played at Donnington Castle, a short walk from his home in Newbury, Berkshire. Born into a musical family, his father, brother and uncle played a wide variety of instruments, and his mother sang in local choirs. Debussy, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Delius, Sibelius, The Beatles, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young...all these musicians were in the air that Peter breathed day and night. Peter began classical piano lessons at six years old. At eight, he moved with his family to a hillside overlooking New Haven, CT. His childhood and upbringing were unique. His father, creator of PhysicsforFree.com, is an internationally recognized scientist and former Chairman of the Physics Dept. at Yale University. His mother, who took on the spiritual name of Padma (which means lotus) is an Integral Yoga teacher, a disciple of Sri Swami Satchidananda, a vegetarian, and very involved in community service by teaching yoga, primarily to the elderly. In his early teens, inspired by the keyboard playing of Ray Manzarak of The Doors and Keith Emerson, Peter began playing the electric organ in rock and blues bands, picking up the soulful melodies and chords of Page, Clapton, and Hendrix. At seventeen, he began exploring the electric jazz and improvisation of John McLaughlin, Wayne Shorter, Weather Report's Joe Zawinul, and guitarist Michael Gregory whom he played with on many occasions. Shortly after, Peter began composing and performing his original solo piano compositions to spellbound audiences throughout New England. During the 80's, his style evolved to new heights when forming the progressive New England-based New Music Ensemble with master Afro-Caribbean percussionist and composer Michael Mills. Many world-class musicians played with this unique group including Henny Alvarez, the legendary Puerto Rican singer, composer and percussionist, Paul Mills, drummer with the late contemporary jazz vocalist Phyliss Hyman, Michael Rubinowitz, NYC eclectic jazz bassoonist, and world-renowned soprano saxophonist Marion Meadows. During the nineties, Peter focused his attention on some of the most innovative New Age musicians including Medicine Wind, Kitaro, Matisha, and John Astin. Over two decades of performing and composing have now culminated in Peter's debut solo album, "Secret Oasis".

A little bit of heaven.......2002-09-02
From the begining Peter's music brought forth for me, a visualization of his fingers and hands gliding over the keys in a wonderful seamless way. His music seems to flow like water moving along the path of life. Peter's music is very original. His own compositions, flowing from his wonderful rich inner world. He has the ability to transport the listener with him into wonderful light, loving, relaxing places that enrich the soul.
One of my favorite songs is "Caribbian Sunshower" . The music sparkles with warmth and joy, exuding a wonderful light dreamy ambiance. Often I play Peter's music when I really want to relax deeply and let the tensions of the day leave my body. "Stream of Healing Waters" is particularly wonderful for just lying back and closing my eyes, feeling the water flow all around me. It transports my senses to a place of serenity.
If, like me you like music that transports you out of the world of tension and stress and into a place of emotional beauty, spiritual warmth, floating gently on the waves of love, then I know you will love this very special CD.
