Chris AUDREN is a songwriter-composer-musician who realised "Opus One", his first solo album, in 1995. The singer-guitar player produced a melodic rock (in English) with beautiful instrumental parts, close to GRENDEL or GTR. "Gwen Menez" (2002) operates a total stylistic change, now playing a new-age music with great celtic influences. This was originally written for the "Carabosse" show. Faithful to his multi-instrumentist spirit, much more keyboards-oriented this time, Chris AUDREN cares one more time about all the conception stages. Great Discovery.......2002-09-01

i got to know this fabulous album by chance, in "Bretagne" (Brittany, in France), and it's a real revelation ; strong celtic and medieval influences in a very melodic progressive kind of stuff ; a kind of modern and symphonic expression of celtic roots ; sometimes sounds a bit like Mike Oldfield, but a different way...it could be called "new age" somehow, but it's too full of variations and even dancing tunes (well..it's not boring like new age stuff is to me...)with beautiful melodies and sophisticated arrangements ; synthesizers but traditional sounds too, i especially enjoyed the flute and uillean pipes parts). One of the best CD i've listened to for years, really
