The Tucson based Sonoran Consort is one of the most exciting and innovative ensembles performing today. All classically trained musicians, Saxophonist Michael Hester, percussionist Todd Hammes and pianist William Campbell create music that has been called "groovy, worldly and classical all at the same time." The trio has released their second CD, Open Rail (2002). Sometimes familiar, sometimes challenging, Open Rail is a sonic document of the trio's creative journey. Each track is a world within itself, transporting listeners through soundscapes that embody profound contentment, deep yearning, self-discovery and moments of sheer bliss.
