Dragonflies is a beautiful collection of playful and passionate improvisational rhapsodies for flute and viola. The musical dialogue between the flute and viola create amazing pictures and images for the imagination. You may feel like dancing and swirling, or may simply close your eyes for a wonderful magical journey. No matter how you listen to Dragonflies, you will experience the passionate joy of two wonderful musicians flying on wings of spirit.

Using The Drone as a canvas upon which to paint the music, these spontaneous improvisations occurred with no plan or direction other than who would begin. The resulting rhapsodies reveal the playfulness, passion and pathos visited upon two classically trained musicians who simply got out of the way in order to allow the music to "play them."

All of the rhapsodies received their names after many listenings, with the exception of "Kosovo." This haunting piece was named in the middle of the night, soon after its birth. Recording during the height of the bombings, this music carried deep and powerful images of its meaning and message even as it came upon us. We dedicate this rhapsody to peace and harmony among the peoples of the world.
