Another winner from Doreen!.......2007-01-10

Unlike most other self-hypnosis CD's (like those from Wendi "Giggles" Friesen), Blumenfeld's guided imagery actually works. Her voice is soothing, the images effective, and 8 times out of 10, I'm out like a light. The only negative is that sometimes she says some really odd things that make you go "huh??" -- upsetting the mood a little. Multiple playings will get you through this as you become used to the oddities but the CD could be even more effective if the wording were polished up.

The background music is excellent for setting the mood. Kind of an electronic synthesizer drone that works well with Doreen's voice.

When I bought this CD I was looking for a calm and relaxing way to reach my center. I could not be more satisfied. I look forward to doing one of her meditations each day after work and Doreen's meditations have had a huge impact on how I interact in my world. Journey into Healing Light is a blessing for those in severe pain.......2006-06-21

I have been recomending Doreen's CDs to my patients (breast cancer survivors) but had not had a personal experience until this year. A family member was hospitilized for 2 weeks with severe face pain caused by trigeminal neuralgia. The pain was excrutiating and not responding readily to neurologic and narcotic pain medications. One night we tried Doreen's Journey into Healing Light. To our great surprise and relief, the pain reduced within 15 minutes to a tolerable level. We then alternated between this CD and Journey into Deep Relaxation. After a few days of this, just hearing Doreen's voice at the beginning of the recording was enough to induce a relaxation response and to lower the intensity and frequency of the shooting pains. These CDs are powerful tools for tapping into the mind-body connection, whether for physical and mental pain management, stress reduction or the pursuit of wellness. Many blessings to you, Doreen, for providing us with such wonderful options as we seek to improve our quality of life and health.

New Earth Records has some really wonderful musicians, and this CD offers the listener some of the highlights of their recent releases. Often samplers are a fantastic value for the music and this one is no exception. The first cut, by Chinmaya Dunster, is from a lovely theme CD offering Feng Shui music. The second, by the ever prolific Deuter, comes from his recent release, Sun Spirit, a lively upbeat release. Dreamcather, by Kamal, is from "Shamanic Healing" a wonderful world crossover work. Cut numer 4, again from Deuter, is from Reiki-Hands of Light. Designed to be used in a Reiki healing session, this music is mellow and introspective. Al Gromer Khan, the master of Sufi-Indian-infused-ambient-world music, provides the long track on number 5, from Kamasutra Experience. Another Reiki piece is found in cut 6, contributed by Anuvida and Nik Tyndall. Deuter teams with Annette Cantor to provide the vocal piece on cut 7, from the wonderful CD, Garden of the Gods. The final cut comes from Nadama, and provides a fitting ending to this compilation (from his CD entitled Heart to Heart).

It would be safe to say that, on the quiet music side of New Earth Records, this compilation is like a "Best of" for the year 2000. You really can't go wrong here. Best thing is, if you like the music, you can locate the entire CD by each artist, and enjoy even more sounds!

Volcanic music!.......2005-05-03

Danielpour's syncopated rhythms are right out of Stravinsky's Rite, his orchestral colours fiery as the Firebird - but there is nevertheless a personality in this music that lifts it above mere pastiche. Alternating a volcanic energy that takes Stravinsky's wildest moments to an entirely different level with deeply moving moments that recall Debussy or the early, tonal work of Schoenberg, this music speaks to both the physical and spiritual aspects of the listener.
