It just kinda gets "into" you..........2007-05-21
My favorite track is Buffalo Moon--the first time I heard it on Sky.fm, my head popped over the top of the book I was reading like a gopher. The tune is basic, strong, delightfully hummable, and it sticks in my head the rest of the day if I loop it more than once. **wink** Highly recommeded!
We the People by Brule.......2006-03-14
Awesome! Heard Brule at a local art show years ago and purchased We the People then. I was really impressed how they blended the modern rhythms with the Native Indians chants and melodies. I have given several copies as gifts and each recepient has really liked this CD. Highly recommended.
Powerful, Instinctual and Resonant.......2005-01-25
Music is an indisputable link between the ages, between cultures and between individuals. Music is a force so powerful that science cannot fully define it, and yet so personal that every breathing thing resonates with its pulse.
Earliest forms of music were replicated patterns of our bodies; as humankind recognized that our breath, our pulse and our physical movements complimented cyclic patterns of flora and fauna, sun and moon, earth and sky, our music evolved as a sort of bridge to the universe.
Simply phrased, all living things possess energy and all energy possesses vibration. When vibrations occur in harmony, or resonate, the effect is pleasing. When the vibrations created by music resonate with our body's own energy vibrations, the effect is profound. Deep learning and memory functions are facilitated; healing is accomplished, stress can be eliminated, perceptions are heightened and creativity is enhanced when we can literally `tune' into the vibrations within our environment.
Research has shown that music has the capability to alter our brain's neurotransmitters! It will, for example, allow a memory link to be forged in moments, as opposed to hours or days via other methods.
In the hands of masters, music may induce physiological reactions that take listeners beyond the limitations of our five senses.
I've witnessed such behavioral changes listening to Brule's 'We The People' album. While working with abused and supposedly-unreachable children, I was often responsible for their transportation to and from appointments. During those trips, I would play this CD and watch in joyful amazement as agitated and frightened children regained a measure of peace. Their crying ceased; acting-out behaviors gave way to shy smiles. Sometimes, the little ones managed to drift into the first real sleep since their ordeal began.
Children instinctively understand what Pythagoras stated in his `music of the spheres' formula, which linked music, mathematics and color to the patterns of the universe. He stated that humans are only aware of a small fraction of the universe's energies and limited by untrained use of our senses. Nowadays, people are so often so caught up in their stress-filled environment that the 'more/louder/faster' mantra overloads their senses and leaves little opportunity for renewal of the spirit.
Paul LaRoche and the members of Brule have crafted a stunning, instinctual work that resonates with all of the listener's senses. `Brave Hearts' and `Dream Shield,' are exceptional. I understood the meaning, without translation, in the soulful `Sacred Praises' chant. `Buffalo Moon' and `Spirit Horses' employ an ageless rhythm that was, at once, familiar.I found each to be pure and exquisite, fulfilling its destiny to resonate with the dynamic nature of the universe.
Highly recommended for creation of your own personal journey to resonance.
Phantastic music.......2004-11-24
I love this CD! The mix of Native American sounds with techno rock is truly amazing, and you won't get tired of listening to it again and again.
My kids including my 12 year old son love it too. He loves the indian songs with the guitar riffs the best.
Too bad there aren't any lyrics. It would be fun to sing along.
Wow!!!!.......2003-05-05
All I can say is WOW!!! It's great. There was only one song on the album (I don't remember the name right now) that I had a little difficulty with - not because it was bad, but only because it was a little too "hard rock" sounding for me. Otherwise, the album was FANTASTIC!!!!! Brule is very talented and I like their unique sound. Buy it. You won't be dissapointed. If you like good contemporary Native American music, Brule is one of the best!

Native American flutist Douglas Spotted Eagle dedicates this album to children as part of his efforts to support the prevention of child abuse. The result is a compilation of Spotted Eagle's strongest material, beginning with the very emotional "The Traveler," a piece the composer wrote after his children were taken from him. Rife with soothing cedar flute, this album sets an expansive, spiritual mood slow in tempo and sparse in instrumentation. Native chant and drums fill out the swaths of long, lush flute, ambient synth, and chiming guitar. "Daddy's Arms," though an emotionally meaningful song for what seems to be divorced and absent fathers, is definitely the odd pick out. Spotted Eagle is not a trained singer, and the tune would have benefited from one, especially since the featured instrumentation is piano à la Jim Brickman. Outside of this small peculiar blip at the CD's end, this album is a respectable collection of beautiful Native flute music that emits a centered, calming energy. --Karen K. Hugg
Customer Reviews:
In my opinion..........2004-12-23
This is about the best music ever put down on a CD. This music is like a door to another world, even if you do not know it. The ethereal sounds on this album that is sure to relax and totally separate your consciousness from a busy world are unparalleled. For those unfamiliar with this sort of music, it is vaguely similar to Enigma (without chanting or hip-hop backbeat and sexual undertones). However, much like the gregorian chants, the rolling rythyms of the flutes and drums carry a well-known emotion that your soul knows if your mind forgot. This is the sort of sound that can wash stress and worry away... leaving you refreshed, calm, and perhaps a bit somber. It rarely spikes or troughs, but manages to rock your mind to a calm like a gently rippling lake. It definitely is a more natural, earthy sound. If you like grating machine noise, synthesized sounds, or anything along those lines, this may not be for you.
Inspiring.......2000-05-04
Spotted Eagle has become one of my favorite Native American musicians. I have much of his music. This CD is as good as "Pray," but Spotted Eagle actually sings on "Daddy's Arms." What a great voice he has! In addition, he states he cannot sing. Please Douglas, sing to us some more.
Wonderful, moving, Spiritually uplifting........2000-03-19
Every track speaks to you. Wonderful music. Daddy's Arms was beautiful and all the more moving for being sung from the heart. This was my favourite track and I thought his voice was spot on (no pun intended). More in English please.
In touch with ones origan Cherokee and the hungry to learn.......1999-08-06
Puts one in touch with spritual being. For I'm part Cherokee and have a hungry to know more and learn more about my people as they are apart of my every day living. To know the past and present.

Brickman produced this compilation, which brings on board such luminaries as Anne Cochran, Michelle Wright, Janis Ian, Stephen Bishop, and of course Brickman himself. Essentially a collection of ballads on the title subject, Visions of Love doesn't have much variety, though Peabo Bryson's singing on "My Heart Belongs to You" does stand out. Pop-oriented and lyrically composed, the music relies on emotional resonance, which it achieves. --Genevieve Williams
Customer Reviews:
multi-talented.......2005-09-25
Windham Hill Records (Jim Brickman's label) asked Jim to put this compilation album together using various Windham Hill artists. Jim has a great talent for writing for piano and creating beautiful lyrics, but he also has a knack for putting songs and voices together beautifully as he has shown on many of his albums. On this album, Jim shows another of his many talents... the ability to pull together various talents to create a theme.
Jim had a vision for this album and an idea that love is experienced in many different ways. Visions of Love is exactly that... a look at the various types of love we may experience through our lives. Each song has a unique perspective of love as told by the artist. They're beautiful, lyrical, haunting or upbeat, happy or sad, and everything in between.
If you listen to this album with this in mind and you enjoy Windham Hill artists, then you'll enjoy owning Visions of Love. And you will hear Jim throughout. However, if you're looking for another Jim Brickman album full of his own piano and songs, then this won't fill your need.
Not one of his Better works.......2003-03-14
I am a huge fan of Jim Brickman. I have all of his cd's. I had all of them but this one and decided to buy it since I really like his others. I found this cd to be not as good as the others that I own. It seems to have something missing that the others have musically. I had listened to clips of the tracks on amazon and thought "maybe it will grow on me". Right now it is sitting on a shelf not being played. I am not really impressed with this one. I suggest you listen to it on amazon and you make your own decision.
Too much singing, not enough piano playing.......2002-12-29
I don't mind some singing on a Jim Brickman album, I even think that he can do a decent job himself, but all 12 selections having it is too much for me. 12 selections with 12 singers, too many of them even manage to drown out the music- #4 "Still in Love" by Larry Stewart does allow you to hear that piano which is what I want a Brickman album for.
Too Many Friends, Too Little Brickman.......2001-08-07
I quite enjoy Jim Brickman's piano work which generally has a light new age texture to it. But this CD unfortunately has little of his piano playing, no new age flavor, but for me is mostly bland, over mellow pop. I loved the Janis Ian and Partners In Crime, and after hearing them a few times, grew to enjoy Anne Cochran's "After All These Years," Larry Stewart's "Still In Love," Colin Raye & Susan Ashton's "The Gift", Peabo Bryson's "My Heart Belongs to You," and Stephen Bishop's "We Live For Love," but even with two outstanding cuts and five enjoyable ones, this CD just doesn't have enough of what I as a Jim Brickman fan am looking for.
The bottom line is that new age fans and fans of his earlier albums with more solo work are liable to be quite disappointed in this CD. Those who enjoy the particular artists represented will probably enjoy it.
Piano Fan.......2001-02-21
The duet on this CD with Dave Koz called "Partners In Crime" is by far my favorite. I also loved "The Gift" and "That's What I'm Here For", both are fantastic songs. This CD has a wonderful mix of instrumental and vocal compositions, I would definately recommend it to anyone.

Night Tree by Nicole.......2005-09-07
Probably the finest in Native Indian music I've heard. Nicole was magnificant, and her fathers production of the albun was masterful. Sure hope they keep up the good work. Would like to see them in person on stage sometime if they perform in my area.
NIGHT TREE.......2003-09-09
A WELL BALANCED, FULL SOUND WITH CATCHY TUNES AND A GOOD BEAT.I FOUND IT TO BE VERY ENJOYABLE LISTENING.

Perhaps not as strong as Passion Spirit, but that's only a first impression based on 2 listens. A very enjoyable CD and I'm sure it will get a lot of play in my collection.

Album Description
My visions began long before I came to Sedona, but nowhere else I've been has a landscape so supported those visions and urged me to be freest and listen to my heart so completely. It's satisfying to know that this music has been embraced by massage therapists, subtle bodyworkers of many disiplines, body movement classes, visualization classes, and simply used by people of all kinds to get clear, relax and discover deeper places in themselves.
Customer Reviews:
New Visions in Sedona.......2000-04-10
It is unusual to listen to music from an album again and again, and every time marvel at the quality of every note. This is a superb "vision" that should be experienced by all.
Dreams of Sedona.......2000-04-10
Every time I listen to "Dreams of Sedona" I visit segments of my first nature. Living in a highly tense world, it is a gift of peace that this talented musician has managed to extrude from synthesizers. His music transports one rapidly to a blissfull state.
A Magical and Wonderful CD.......2000-03-23
When I listened to this CD for the first time, I was transported to a spacious and beautiful interior landscape. Alexander is a master of the synthesizer, and other instruments. This music takes the listener on a series of inner journeys through moods of contemplation, serenity, awe and awakening. Some of the cuts are hauntingly lovely and emotionally charged. Others evoke the mystic rapture of unimaginable cosmic spaces. Alexander clearly knows the inner worlds, and he also knows how to "show" them to his listeners. I meditated with this music, and found it to be the most powerful audio aid I have discovered. But it is also great for social gatherings. The atmosphere it creates is totally positive, and is NOT like so much other (boring) New Age music. This is what that genre OUGHT to be like!

Customer Reviews:
Passion Spirit CD review.......2007-04-12
I love this CD! Brule is a great band, I have listened to many of their CDs, but this one is my favorite! I bought this CD to give to a friend of mine, because he liked mine. Nicole's flute playing is wonderful and the music is haunting, powerful and lovely to listen to. I have heard them play in person, several times, so this CD means a lot to me.
Nicole.......2007-01-04
Very smooth and relaxing much like conventional "New Age" music. Nicole hase a very unique style to her flute playing that sets her apart from others. She sounds just as good in person. The only downside is "sameness" of the songs. I would definitely buy another one of her albums.
Nicole's Passion Spirit Album.......2006-08-16
This is beautiful and amazing! She moves your soul and pulls your heart strings, especially the song Ancestor's Cry. Very relaxing music!~
Wonderful Music.......2005-11-02
Passion Spirit is wonderful. If you want music that soothes your Soul, this CD is for you.
Seeing Brule'/AIRO in person is the only thing better.
Enjoy!!
Relaxing and Engaging .......2005-01-25
Nicole's talent reaches back through the ages as much as it sets an example for the music of the future. Today's stress-filled world is overwhelmed by the 'more is better' philosophy, but she has chosen not to walk that path. Instead, her music subtly weaves patterns that ever-so-gently engage all the senses.
Influenced by her father, Paul LaRoche of Brule? Perhaps. There are similarities in the way that her flute soars along age-old paths connecting music and our intellectual, emotional and physical patterns. Truly, Paul and Nicole are masters of a very ancient art. So skillful are their compositions, so breathtaking is their understanding of the human soul that their creations not only engage the senses but may manipulate them as well.
Nicole's style is not her father's however; Brule's unique melodies are supported by a more 'masculine' or 'earthy' foundation of traditional Native American music. Nicole is pure flight.
Highly recommended listening for long commutes in city traffic, quiet nights at home or last-minute changes to a project with a looming deadline...anywhere you would like to create a peaceful space.

i have enjoyed listening to my brule cd so much . i have bought other brule cd's and enjoy all of them. i am so happy to hear such lovely music from a talented native american.
SAD TO SEE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC SO SCRATCHY! .......2007-04-08
The Music is very nice and well done but it sounds like it was done in a poor studio! It is so scratchy and a such disappointment because I love this group's music. WHAT HAPPENED GUYS???
It's a WINNER.......2007-04-03
Absolutely fantastic. I have all of Brule's CD's as well as his daughter Nicole's and his son Shawn's (AIRO). I absolutely fell in love with his music the first time I heard it in the mid 1990's. I can't wait for his next release.
brule-kinship cd.......2007-03-16
I totally agree with the first reviewer. The technical quality of this CD is total garbage. Painful for the ears indeed. It sounds like a bad LP record from early sixties which is full of scratches.
Save your money on this one and buy any other CD from Brule, which are good, or the solo-CD's from Nicole la Roche (the flute-payer of the group) which are absolutely superb.
Something is wrong with this cd.......2006-11-21
I love this artist and own many of his earlier cds. The music on here would
easily rate five stars, BUT, this cd has a distorted "buzz" on most of the
tracks that makes it very painful to listen to. I find it hard to believe
that this was the intent of either the artist or producer.

Great listening music.......2006-07-11
The Gordons know how to relax you. Great listening pleasure with a light Native American touch. This particular CD spans their music career from there previous CD's plus 3 new ones.
20 Years of Sacred Musical Vision.......2002-12-27
What a gift ! I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given the gift of the Gordon's 20th anniversary compilation album Sacred Drum Visions from my wife for the holidays. It is trully an exceptional collection and likely my favorite of the all the Gordon's releases thus far, as it contains many of the best tracks from their incredible highly-acclaimed native music series including Sacred Earth Drums, Sacred Spirit Drums and Drum Medicine as well as 3 magnificent new tracks. The Gordon brothers music has really evolved in a number of unique ways over the years. And though their music stems from a native American influence it artfully combines sounds and instumentation from many indigenous cultures from around the world, making their sound trully universal; and this clearly shines through in this compilation. Perhaps the best thing about this particular release is the perfectly sequenced flow of each track into the next creating a sonic journey that reaches back in time and trancends the mundane world taking the listener on a journey of the Spirit and the Imagination. The 3 new tracks are really exceptional gems. I particularly like Faithkeeper Part I, which opens the CD and Light of the Canyon, the jewel within the center of these tracks. This CD is far more than a retrospective of the Gordon's amazing body of work, it is a powerful, transformative and healing musical journey of the heart. I highly recommend it.

I Have Da CD.......2005-12-25
I have this CD and it is awesome! Sunrise Offering I say was one of the best songs on this. I also downloaded these songs on my ipod mini. Brule is definately a great CD.
One Nation by Brule.......2005-10-29
This Album really gets your blood pumping. Mixing New Age with Traditional Native Music. My favorite is Sunrise Offering and All My Relations. In All My Relations the new age sound is evident. Thankyou Brule for such wonderful music. I too am Lakota Sioux
This is a must album to buy. I love playing it when I am driving.
