Great ballads from the American Songbook!.......2007-07-31
25 examples of the best of American popular song sung by one of America's greatest female vocalists.
Patti recorded these during the early to mid 50s and they were released on a number of 45 rpm EPs, 10 and 12 inch LPs. Patti's Mercury album YOU GO TO MY HEAD is here in its entirety. Other selections have been taken from PAGE 1, PAGE 2, PAGE 3, and MUSIC FOR TWO IN LOVE.
Patti caresses these songs as a lover would sing them to the beloved. There's no doubt in my mind that Patti loved these songs when she recorded them. From the opening selection EAST OF THE SUN to the closer I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU the lights are low, the mood is love!

Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19
Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.
My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.
The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Product Description
This is Blue October's third album, building on this British synthpop band's strong reputation for smooth, melodic electronic pop music. The light, airy vocals glide with emotion over the bouncing synthesizer patterns and pulsing beats, with one memorable song after another. The album includes three bonus remixes, all rhythmically enhanced for club play.
Customer Reviews:
Blue October, smooth silky synth.......2006-04-19
I see that somebody who posted a review is writing only because they were confused between Blue October bands. Hmm, I doubt they listened to the music by this, the original Blue October, before they posted a review.
It should be noted that Blue October from the UK had been releasing CD's before the Texas rock band had poked their heads out yet. The album "Incoming" was Blue October's debut release (and still my personal favorite) and was released in 1996, before the rock band was around. "One Day Silver, One Day Gold" is the 3rd album. Also, the comment saying "this kind of music has been done before" is a little bit strange, coming from a fan of a rock band who plays the same old rock sound that has been done in America for the last few decades, as if THAT approach is particularly unique.
Anyway, I'm not hear to argue, but would recommend posting reviews about the bands that are pertinent to your own tastes and interests. If you're a fan of melodic, smooth, electronic pop music, this is right up your ally. If you're looking for a different Blue October that plays typical rock music, then I wouldn't expect you to like this, the original Blue October. Then again, if you're just a fan of good music, no matter what the style, I bet you'll enjoy giving this a listen.
please change your name!!.......2006-01-20
we all know who the real Blue October is and this music from the Blue(UK), is just more 80's, Erasure type music, that's been done over and over. No originality what's so ever. Nice try!!
what happened.......2005-10-30
Pure cheese. What happened this album isnt anywhere near the other albums by them. If youre thinking of buying blue october. Dont buy this one. Buy incoming thats there best. I still hope they come back on there next album.

Kathryn Grayson's coloratura prowess.......2007-07-07
I'm not sure whether the review I typed just now got through or not anyway I haven't finished it. May I do it over again.
I still remember how I was dazzled by 'Love Is Where You Find It' the song that Kathryn Grayson sings in the movie "Kissing Bandit'. I was so taken by it that I went back to see it a second time. The second time was just about all I could afford at the time, I was about fourteen then. Believe it or not I never forgot this song ever since. This is why I was overjoyed when I discovered sixty years later that this song is included in 'My Heart Sings' album. Of course, I bought it immediately. True to my memory, Kathryn Grayson sings beautifully just as I remember it. Hers is a very beautiful voice, sweet, free and clear throughout the range. She is a true coloratura, her run of the coloratura roulade is so smooth and agile it is like a chirping sparrow. She is by no means good only at trilling, her lyrical moments are just as moving and effective, 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes', 'Always', 'What's Wrong with Me, etc. ,for instance.
I wonder why she didn't turn to opera after MGM closed its door to musical, it's her fans' loss as well as to the opera world. She would be as good as any of the opera coloratura greats.
I also bought Jeanette MacDonald's 'San Francisco and Other Jeanette MacDolnald Favorites' album, but it hasn't arrived yet. However, I've listened to the samples and found that she is very good especially singing the few opera arias contained in the CD. I am looking forward to listening to it.
My Heart Sings certainly deserves a five stars credit.
KATHRYN GRAYSON TRULY SINGS!.......2002-03-04
KATHRYN GRAYSON SINGS BEAUTIFULLY ON THIS CD WITH A RANGE OF FOUR OCTAVES.SHE SINGS SOME WONDERFUL SELECTIONS (SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES) IS JUST ONE OF HER SONGS THAT I LIKED BUT (MAKE BELEIVE), SO MANY LOVELY SONGS! I RATED IT 4 STARS! ENJOY!
The voice of a lovely bird.......2001-11-28
I have this wonderful recording I bought sometime ago. The recording sound is very good and clear. It brought many memories to me, from the time when I saw this wonderful artist for the first time in "Anchors Away", the movie, many years ago. I literally fell in love with Kathryn and her marvelous soprano voice, when I saw the above mentioned movie in the 50's... After that movie, I followed up this artist and tried to see all her movies and bought many records at that time.
WOW.......2001-08-17
Miss Grayson's album was great, her songs, her voice, really terffic! the only thing wrong is I can't buy more of her music! John S. Strasko
Kathryn Grayson: My Heart Sings.......2001-02-23
Long overdue, this collection features the crystal clear soprano voice of Kathryn Grayson, one of Hollywood's finest singing stars during the "golden age" of MGM musicals. The 18 tracks contain classic show tunes by such greats as Irving Berlin, Sigmund Romberg, Rodgers & Hart, and (above all) Jerome Kern. Grayson always had a way of making Kern songs sound as if they had been written just for her. Among the album's Kern songs are "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "They Didn't Believe Me," and "Make Believe" (with Tony Martin). Among the previously unreleased numbers are two gems (both by Kern), "I've Told Evr'y Little Star" and "The Song Is You" (with Johnny Johnston). No operatic arias are included, but Grayson shows off her extraordinary vocal range in such numbers as "Tales from the Vienna Woods," Tchaikovsky's "Waltz Serenade," and the high-flying "Love Is Where You Find it," which closes the album, literally and figuratively, on a high note. Brava!

Album Description
Rename is a melodic synthpop band from Germany that builds on the strong traditions of fellow countrymen Boytronic or Hubert Kah, mixed in with a touch of the Pet Shop Boys and a flare of their own. Their catchy songs will be stuck in your head after the first listen!
Customer Reviews:
Culture.......2007-04-14
This is another great disc that is definately worth checking out with a blend of slower and upbeat tracks that deserves radio-play.Limelight was the first song i ever heard off a sampler from a Different Drum and was hooked from the get go.There is great vocals and hooks that will get you energize and moving. It's a cd you can enjoy at home or in the car.Check it out!You can't go wrong and for those who love New Wave/Synthpop it's worth a listen.
Superb release.......2005-04-15
This is definatly a fantastic album. They have similarities to the likes of Pet Shop Boys, but keep their own originality with the modern synth driven songs. Most of the tracks are very upbeat and happy. There are a few ballads type songs and a few mid tempo tracks. Think of them as the Pet Shop Boys for the new Millennium.
Definatly a great unique style of modern synthpop
Awesome Debut Album - A must have.......2005-01-25
I bought a lot of new and back catalog Synth Pop albums last year, and this is without a doubt one of my favourites. It is often in my CD Player, a long with Neuropas Born (see my recommendation). Rename are a highly polished act, and all songs are very catchy and likeable (there is not one duff song on the whole CD, and you get 13 of them). It is true they are similar to the Pet Shop Boys at their best, but they have their own unique sound, and you will like them if you like PSB, Erasure, Neuropa, Mesh and any 80's pop.
Here goes with my individual review of each track (but remember I am just a music fan and not a highly trained musician):
1) Maybe Later I will Fall - A great start. Powerful synths over a hip hop style beat. Soaring vocals singing about Love and the apprehension it brings.
2) Something Painful Must Have Happened - Again a great beat, and plenty of variety in the synths, similar to early PSB. Catchy lyrics, especially the chorus which builds up to a deeply almost spoken rendition of the song title.
3) Compromise Letter - Deep pounding bass, and catchy vocals. The song slows down in the middle and then builds back up with great catchy synths pounding away.
4) You Don't Deserve My Love - The first single released by Rename, which is also worth picking up. A deeply pounding beat, with piano style synths. Marcus Geltners vocals are exceptional on this track, ocassionally with some echo, making this one of my favourite tracks. Hearing this track alone made me by the whole CD, and I wasn't dissapointed.
5) Me Versus You - This in my opinion is very similar to the Pet Shop Boys, and one of my least favourite tracks on the CD. Marcus vocals are very similar to Neil Tennants, but the vocals go well with the song.
6) Heaven Forever - A little slower, with romantic vocals and dreamy synths. A great song for singing along to, especially the chorus. Towards the end, the vocals are almost whispered, before the song builds back up. I like the way this song just stops at the end.
7) Walking Down the Streets - This one has quite an annoying beat, which you will either love or hate. It is my least favourite song on the CD, as I feel it chops and changes too much, and does not go anywhere. But I appreciate all the different sounds that make up this song.
8) Everyone you Talk to - This song is a bit different, and I like it. Again deep bass, with lots of synths. The vocals aren't as catchy as some of the other songs, but they fit this song perfectly.
9) My Wonder (It must have been Love 2004) - Remember Roxette. Well the lyrics from their hit song are used to great effect in this track, but with the chorus replaced by Renames own lyrics. A great pop song, short but sweet.
10) Stay (Don't Tell Me You'll Leave Me) - Another great song with deep pounding synth beats, and catchy lyrics, particularly the chorus. You'll keep singing, Stay - stay forever, after this one has finished.
11) When I have the Blues - the bass on this will shake your room, but it's not a fast beat, but quite a slow tempo. You'll be tapping your foot to this one, or bobbing your head.
12) Limelight - another thumping beat on this one, and lots of different synths. The vocals change style throughout, but the chorus is very catchy, with almost trance like music, and you will definitely find yourself singing along. Again I like the instrumental part where the beat gradually builds back up to the chorus. Another one of my favourites on the CD.
13) In Different Things - A great way to finish the CD. A nice slower beat, with piano style synths, and great vocals.
Conclusion: Another superb release from A Different Drum, and one of my best albums of 2004. Order it quick as the first 500 CDs have a free 6 track CD (called Sub-culture) containing bonus tracks and remixes.
Great debut release!.......2005-01-25
This album is really great for a debut effort. The CD is packed with great catchy songs, good melodies and smooth synth programming and production. The CD reminds me of Erasure's work between the time of their Innocents and Chorus releases, or also early Pet Shop Boys from the Please or Actually albums. I would classify several of the songs on this CD as earworms. The songs "Maybe Later I will fall", "Limelight", "My Wonder" and "You don't deserve my love" are a few of the gems on this album. Definitely worth picking up.
Get up and dance.......2005-01-24
Rename is another great synthpop band.Vocals sound a bit like the pet shop boys. These songs are very well put together synths, beats and vocals along with melodies that you cant help humming along or just plain getting up and dancing madly around the living room.Rename is keeper for those synthpop heads or even for those just starting out.

Buyer beware.......2004-05-21
This is NOT a commercially made disc. It is a CDR produced on a large scale.
Be warned that the DESERT SONG excerpts are not from the Movie soundtrack featuring Grayson and Gordon McCrea....but of an album that features W/ Grayson, Tony Martin. Martin does very well. Still, I wish a CD of the soundtrack were available
