The debut disc of The Ivy League is their first attempt at explaining their almost cynical outlook on current events. The 11th Hour has a dark mood set with undertones describing their outlook on the end of the world. The concept of the 11th Hour is not totally pessimistic with its insight for change laid out in songs like Start . The album shows the extremes of the world good and bad, light and dark, divine and evil. The 11th hour should appeal to anyone who felt like they didn t belong; the outcast, the down trodden and the salt of the world. The 11th hour musically has a range of influences from hardcore and punk to rock & roll and even post punk. People who are fans of anything from AFI and Blood for Blood to the haunting monotone of Johnny Cash should appreciate what this album is portraying.

This album is great from start to finish. The Ivy League mixes influences like Joy Division and Blood for Blood to create something totally unique to them! Every song on this album is packed with heart, soul, and passion so thick it almost runs off the CD the blood, sweat, and tears they put into making it. If you like passion mixed with the dark truth, you'll love the 11th Hour!

A hard review to write........2007-01-26
To be fair and correct, Psyche have a sincere approach to electronic originality that is hard to deny. This whole album is quite complicated as far as genre is concerned. At times it sounds like the NIN-Pretty Hate Machine Era of music, other times it brings to mind the darker elements of Depeche Mode. Some of the songs are slightly dancey, while most of the songs lean closer to Melodic Darkwave, or kinda Synthpop meets Industrial with suddle hints of Jungle and Goth. Despite the genuine creativity of this artist, I found myself growing board with it's slow and melodic consistency. Nevertheless, there are three songs on this album that I applied to my ipod and rather enjoy. Those songs are "Bloodcurse", "15 minutes", and the title track "11th Hour".
Gets Better With Each Listen..Great Mood, Lyrics, Direction!.......2005-04-06
Darrin Huss has outdone himself here. As I now listened to this CD about 6 times I realize it is much more complex than some of Psyche's earlier work. The opening track "Bloodcurse" has a horror movie element with the ticking of a watch and very deep vocals and cool electronica effects. Some eerie piano cords highlight this track. "Yearning" is good track with mellow tone and spooky lyrics. Many nice vocal styles are intertwined throughout this track. Next is "Defenseless" it opens with a nice piano arrangement and goes quite Electro with steady Electro beats then back to a piano melody and then back again. "15 Minutes" is an outstanding song. Strong lyrics and perfect vocal style. Great dance song too! Wait for the upcoming remix, it should be amazing. "September Moon" is a lovely ballad with beautiful lyrics. I just love its dark style and haunting sad sound-scapes. "Until" is a mid tempo electo-blaster! Turn it up loud and it gets into your head! A song that grows and grows on you. Layers of cool effects and sung and spoken vocals. Next is a very Electro-punk style track called "The Belonging Kind". A Goth classic with a hint of distortion but still very exciting and with great melody. A catchy track. Turn this one up loud also! "Justice And Damnation" is a mellow track. A good filler before the next EPIC track which is "11th Hour". This is one killer song. Makes you want to snap your fingers, then cut them off! The best lyrics, coolest melody, and a almost disturbing haunting Electro beat and mutated vocals. A ELECTO-GOTH Classic! Next is "Buried Alive" a long track with a synth beat. Layers of cool sounds and horror movie style lyrics & melody. Last track is "Theme 7". A slow beat then a very warped keyboard riff. Industrial sounding closure of an fabulous CD. Psyche lives up to its name here. Psyche will get into your Psyche with "The 11th Hour". Turn it up loud, turn out the lights, and ENJOY!
Psyche Returns Into The Darkness.......2005-03-09
Psyche is back with their first original new release on Metropolis (USA). This CD is a must for anyone who likes Dark, Electro, music that you can actually hear the lyrics. Not noise polution like so many of the industrial bands out there. Psyche has covered it all since way back in 1982 or so. Darrin Huss has an amazing voice that keeps changing with the new directions on this CD. 15 Minutes is the strongest track to be considered for a single. I think a great club mix for this one will come out. I hope so as this is one great track. Some amazing soundscapes can be heard throughout this CD. I just love it. Psyche has always made great music that would fit into any Horror or Sci-Fi flick. This CD is no exception. Order it right away. Great price too!
A challenging album, in a good way.......2005-02-07
It took me a few listens, but I have grown quite fond of this album and cannot seem to get it out of my CD player. I have never heard anything else of Psyche's so I cannot compare this to anything else they have done in their long career.
Haunting melodies with sorrowfull and droning vocals. There is alot of passion in the mix here. You can feel everything Darren is singing about. Musically I could compare this to alot of different synth bands, but the sound is pretty unique. Echoing drums reminescent of Lycia, drawn out synth lines and deep overtones with a sprinkling of piano and either synthesized or very amplified guitar. My only complaint is that a few songs lack variation and seem to drone in the same direction without hooks or buildup of any sort. Some very excellent tracks here though, My favorites have to be Until, and Theme 7/Assassin Reprise.

Wonderful music from a very talented musician.......2002-08-07
What a wonderful first CD--keyboard instruments are handled in an elegantly orchestral manner. It displays a real sense of balance and form. The program order is very well done--a nice variety of music from one piece to the next. This is not your ordinary new age music--you can listen and find new things each time. The pieces are not all in the same key--different key centers are used. I look forward to future works from this composer and performer!
Brilliant and deep.......2002-03-31
For those who prefer their New Age / Instrumental music CD's to display a diversity of styles, and to have a progressive rock edge. Highlights include the first track and the final track. If there is a flaw, it is that the final track, entitled "Out of Time", is not near long enough; I could imagine a very long track or entire album devoted to similar variations of the "Out of Time" main theme instead of this track which is just a few minutes long.
The descriptions of the tracks in the liner notes, which explain the music as describing the history of all time, enhance the experience and add more weight to this project as a concept CD.

Bryant - The 11th Hour.......2001-11-29
The new CD by Bryant is a must buy for all serious fans of rock music. This CD has it all - dynamic vocals and screaming guitars are carefully balanced against thoughtful and heartfelt lyrics and beautiful ballads. Superb musicianship, singing, and songwriting are featured throughout this release. There's no filler on this CD, every cut is a classic! It's clear to see why Tom Bryant is being called the "New Voice of Rock". This is definitely the best rock CD to come along in a long time!
