Very nice contemporary jazz albums.......2005-08-24

These two albums show the tendence of Eumir Deodato in a funky jazz style, with special instrumental electronic effects, but keeping his own style of making good music, which defines him in his triunfant career. These albums should not be missing in a good contemporary jazz collection. Deodato keeps using violins and traditional instruments in order to keep his own style.

People,people-jazz-funk fusion collectors of the world-those of you who don't mind a little disco in with your funky jazz THEN THESE ARE THE ALBUMS FOR YOU!!!!!!The 1980 album 'Nightcruiser' BURNS!!!!!!It's very "Ladies Night" period Kool & The Gang (makes perfect sense since Deodato is the producer).Both of these records feature no vocals and Deodato is as fabulous an arranger as ever.1979's 'Knights Of Fantasy' has much heavier disco leanings for sure but these albums belong together and could easily be part one and two.Just on the strengh of compositions like "Skatin'" alone-it's smooth,funky even YES-lightly muzak influences at times but it totally works!Any fans of late 70's dance-funk/jazz shouldn't even read further-GET THESE TWO AMAZING recordings now!They are 100% worth your while!!!!

Makes you want to dance.......1998-06-05

This is one of the best collections of blues swing music I have found. You can't help but tap your toes, snap your fingers and start dancing. Roadrunner, If I Don't Dance, and Doctor Doctor are great for West Coast Swing dancers. I highly reccommend it.

I only just heard of this band this year because allmusic.com has them listed as a similar artist to Cranes, and while I don't see that much of a comparison to Cranes, this album is a gem of radio-friendly late 90s alt-rock/pop which I'm really glad to have discovered. It reminds me more of Joydrop, except better, and Star 69, another talented but forgotten mid-90s female-fronted major label alt-rock band. The quality of the album is due as much to the Butcher Bros production job as it is to the band's songwriting. The richly textured electronic beats give this album an atmosphere beyond what most rock bands are capable of achieving, while the guitar and vocals weave simple but effective melodies over the top. It gets a bit predictable sometimes, but that's half the fun with this kind of music. Garbage wish they could make an album this good.

Great songs. Cool sounds. If I had a complaint, it'd be that the vocals can be a bit bland at times. I had a few friends that raved about these guys a few years ago, so I finally picked it up. Well worth it.

Amazing album!.......2002-10-16

This album is one of those bands that you uncover out of the blue and it becomes one of your favorites years later and you still wonder why nobody had caught on in the first place. I hate when a band puts out a cd that in my opinion is perfect for every second of it's playtime and nobody gets it. Such is the case with this cd. Getaway Cruiser have written some incredible songs. There isn't one song on this that I don't like and it gets regular play in my cd, the perfect pop album.

I love this album. I used to work at a college radio station, and after playing this album a couple of times, I started to like it. After ordering it, it instantly became my fav album. I can't say that their previous work shines, but the angst-filled vocals really got me. My fav song is 'growing out' and is by far the most interesting song on the album.

Horrid. Absolutely horrid.......1999-03-17

I'd give it 0 if I could. Luckily, I got this CD free. Now, radio being what it is, sometimes you have to go by what's written about a band. Usually, it works out. I would never have heard Ani DiFranco if I hadn't bought a CD based on a good review in a magazine.

But this is horrid. I've heard comparisons with Garbage. This piece of trash doesn't come close. The songs are terrible, the singing made me want to toss the CD out my car window, and the production sounds like what a complete novice would do if put in a studio. The guitar parts sound so devoid of energy that you'd think the performer is watching a soap opera or something. The beats are terrible. And how did these people ever sucker Pras and Kool Keith into this?
