I was one of the priveleged peopled able to hear this album late 1977 when it originally came out.It was bad then it's bad now.Mr. Whitfield,this is the kind of album you shoulda been making the Tempts in the early 70's instead of half baked albums like "1990" and "Masterpiece".There isn't a weak song on this album.Rose Royce were a BAND meaning they could get away with eight and a half minute jams like "It Makes You Feel Like Dancing" & "Do Your Dance".The Tempts were a VOCAL GROUP.Nuff said on that.If you have only Rose Royce album in your collection (and if you listen to funk then you need at least one)this is the one.

Forward into the Past.......2007-05-02

As the CD begins playing, there is an exotic, but familiar texture of Indian influence that sounds for all the world like we're about to fall into George Harrison's Within You and Without You. But the subsequent music never transforms into the glimmering psychedelic pop of Pepper. It remains textural and subliminal in a way that is deeply moving.

Despite the heavy use of familiar instrumentation, this music is never derivative, but gently exploring in its own seductive rhythms. The beat is prominent, but this is not dance hall. Turn the lights down low and you are transported to a place that is both comfortable and adventurous.

Hmmm, it seems easier to describe what its not than what it is, which may the best compliment for music that is also so captivating. Strongly recommended.

Soca mixed with R&B.......2007-06-12

Soca music is actually a combination of calypso, american r&b and other types of music. This mixture is very apparent with this cd. The female lead singer in particular has a very soulful voice! Many of the more island sounding songs were frequently heard a various carnival celebrations. Overall this is a very fun, party-oriented cd. Upbeat and fun!

Love Alison Hinds and Square One, this album is one of the very best that they have, even if you are not a soca lover u will love this cd.

Wonderful CD.......2001-08-03

I purchased this CD at the airport in Barbados when I was there for Crop Over 1998. I just had to buy it since its one of my favorite groups. I saw them perform numerous while I was on vacation in Barbados and try my best to see them whenever they perform in the northeast. Hard to say which song is my favorite. I like them all! If you get the chance to see them perform, by all means do.

Simply Priceless.......2000-09-05

I'm not really a fan of Soca or Calypso but I bought this CD because I wanted something cheerful and lively to exercise to. Needless to say, I was surprised to hear R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae and Creole tracks because this versatility is usually found on a "Best of..." or compilation CD. What can I say, the title says it all.

This CD is awesome! I had the opportunity to see this group perform last year in Brooklyn during the annual Labor Day celebration. I definitely had to purchase the CD.

This was certainly the case of giving us a taste of the greatness this band had following. I believe the single Walk Among Us is worth buying this for on its own. Of course there are some other highlights as well( Serious Drugs ). This is a must if you are a Gigolo fan.
