About the Artist
To date Mario Vaz De Mello has created more than sixty original soundtracks for international stage and screen productions; his music is being continuously performed in The United States, Europe and Latin America. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the musician/producer was in his late teens when he began writing original music for theater, dance, television and film. Since his 1995 move to New York City, Vaz De Mello has assured his status as one of the most innovative artists to have stepped into the world of electronic/soundtrack music. His debut album, BAMBOO SHADOWS, brought to worldwide audiences a genuine and unique multi-ethnic musical charisma approach to New Age and World Music, represented by tracks overflowing with endless and inspiring visual suggestions. If you like movie soundtracks, you will love this album. It's music that evokes images, tells stories and makes you dream. Don't expect anything conventional or pastiche. Definitively something different here. The artist's music is original all the time -- we have here another evidence that electronic music can be very good music. If you check the CD you will understand what I am talking about.

For The Pleasure Of Your Ears..........2001-03-11

This is a CD you want to listen over and over again. The more my ears understand the involving musical universe delivered Mario Vaz De Mello, the more bemused and enchanted I get. For those who like good instrumental music and music that goes against the rules (and this one sounds excellent!) BAMBOO SHADOWS is a must.
