Perfect Music For The Perfect Drive Vol. 2.......2007-01-05

The follow-up to the original Drive-Inn, this record is a little more pop-oriented than its predecessor, but that isn't necessarily bad; it makes the material much more accesible. The melodies are really catchy and the extensive use of digital equipment gives a different aproach to the music. You can recognize the rhythm sequence from Drive-Inn in Dessert Inn, but much more upbeat; Berliner Nachtmusik is also a great track with well defined synth bass lines and main melody; the piano arrangements for PanAmericana are somewhat reminiscent of the original Drive-Inn and make a good balance in the overall composition. Drive Me Funky is a more contemporary arrangement (for its time) with many pop-like tendencies, as well as Pleasant Voyage, Lovely Hitch Hiker and, in less amount, Millers Continental.

But, in my opinion, the best track in the album is The Long Way To Acapulco, whis was also included as a bonus track in the 1990 re-issue of the original Drive-Inn; the piano line is superbly arranged and performed and the track gives you a lasting impression.

The general change of pace in the music is mostly due to the fact Klaus Shulze didn't participate in the composition, but only in the album production.

Perfect music for the perfect drive; I would have loved a longer album, but considering it was a vinyl, I think it's OK.

"Drive Inn II" is one of only two albums by Rainer Bloss that are available in the USA. Bloss contributed to a few of Klaus Schulze's albums in the early 80s - including the memorable concert album recorded in Poland: "Dziekuje Poland".

The album is the sequel to "Drive Inn I" by Bloss and Schulze. This time the resulting music is much better and much nicer in every way. Every composition has a beginning, a middle carrying tune and an end. No, don't laugh - "Drive Inn I" does not have this property! Although this CD aged a little and some compositions seem cheesy, you will find some pearls that make the purchase worth its price. The best example would be the first track: "Long Way to Acapulco". In fact, this ingenious track justfies purchase on its own.
