All time top Peter Seiler CD (up to now).......2001-03-24
Peter Seiler at the height of his creative power. A thoroughly satisfying album. The slight edge that the electric guitar adds to tracks like "The Longing For" suits Peter's gentle melodies well. The sequencing of the tracks is very well done. If you're looking for the soundtrack for a relaxed afternoon or evening, this is your choice record. Seiler recorded this in 1990 and 1991 when Europe was changing rapidly. Many see "Open Borders" as an ode to the promise that the reunification of Germany held. It may be that the borders he refers to are the inner borders that keep different music styles apart. Sad that due to radio format limitation this one did not get wider exposure. A crossover in Modern Instrumental Music can work very well, and this record proved it, full as it is of sentiments and catchy melodies.
