Enough of the beating heart, already.......2007-07-23

while the music and sounds were indeed (potentially) very relaxing - I found the heartbeat distracting and after a while, downright annoying. Just not my idea of calming.

The specific content of this CD is well described under the product and in other reviews. What I could add is that the sound sample is very representative of the content. There is not a lot of variety, which is a good thing for meditation and relaxation depending upon your needs and preferences. When you listen to this for an extended period of time, the sound of the ocean, heart beats, etc. seems to synchronize the bodies rhythms without any effort on the part of the listener. This is CD is well thought out and put together. Highly recommended.

This is amazing to breathe into labor pains .... the sound of the dolphins and water ease the pain creating great relaxation leading into a meditative state !
AMAZING STUFF !!

Used it when my son was born.......2004-01-27

I first purchased this CD YEARS ago - long before I was married or thinking of having children, just because I was looking for some soothing medition music. Then, I read the info about the CD and found it that it was recommended to be played during childbirth. I always held onto this CD and hoped to use it when I had a child. I did "hypnobirthing" when my son was born in 2002, and listened to this CD nightly while my husband and I practiced our hypno-birthing techniques for a couple of months prior to our son being born; and while I was in labor, the combination of the soothing sounds on this tape, and my husband's hypno-birthing coaching kept me calm, cool and collected throughout the birthing process. Today, my son is 15 months old and has had this CD playing continuously during nap time and sleep time - it helps sooth him and blocks outside noises from his room. I don't know what I would have done without this CD! We love it!

Ocean Dreams is the most calming and relaxing cd I have ever owned! It makes you feel as if you're sitting on the beach, just gazing up at the beautiful night sky. If you have trouble falling asleep at night, then I suggest buying this cd. You won't regret it!

Pure tranquility...deepening our connection to the earth..........2005-08-31

This CD was given to me as a gift from a dear friend, and what an amazing gift it was! Evenson's music invites the listener into a deep state of connectedness...at first a gentle beckoning that soons envelopes one in total peace. The meditative (and often joyful) sound of Evenson's flute and the energizing flow of water are punctuated by the enchanting communications of dolphins and whales, inviting us to remember our deepest connection to all of life.

As a Reiki practitioner, I find this CD invaluable to my healing music collection. Evenson's work is unique and inspired and definitely sets a standard in the New Age genre. Even those who don't typically like New Age music should give this a listen. There is much to discover in Evenson's work. His intention to create "Peace Through Music" is evident in every track. Let the joy envelope your heart!

Wonderful relaxation with beautiful music and sounds.......2005-04-20

This was my first Dean Evenson CD and has started a snowballing collection - I love this guy! This CD is *VERY* relaxing and will calm you down right away. I have PTSD and used it during my worst times - it brought me back down to earth and got me relaxed. One note - do not use while driving. It's a little TOO relaxing for that. The ocean and ocean animal sounds are perfect and work wonderfully with the music. Well worth it!!

Just RELAX!.......2004-03-10

Used it during my pregnancy and labor, then to sooth our baby to sleep. Our "baby" (now 9) loves this disc and other Dean Evenson material. We play it every night or as we head to nap time and he happily drops off to sleep. I've bought copies for his pre-school and daycare. It relaxes the kids and was guaranteed to get a room full of toddlers snoring in no time.

This is my favorite baby gift and I've also bought copies for friends and massage therapists. This CD is very special: pure relaxation.

There are 9 titles, but the sound of the ocean is continuous. In comparison to most other CDs of this type, it uses quite a wide variety of musical instruments. Program time is about 51 minutes.

Relaxing and joyous mood music without putting you to sleep.

Soothing, Relaxing and Refreshing.......2000-05-13

The sounds of the dolphins, ocean birds, and waves, intermingled with the soothing sounds of guitar, paino, and various percussion instruments provides for a very relaxing musical journey!

I have this CD constantly playing at work, yet I never seem to tire of listening to it.

The magic of these compositions allow one to completely relax and it will really take the edge off, if an edge needs to be taken off :-)

If you enjoy new age music and/or piano, you will not be disappointed in this CD. It is guaranteed to soothe and put you in a great mood!

The title cut, Dolphin Dreams and the third track, In Harmony, have got to be my favorite tracks, and yet, the following tracks are all equally as good.

Dolphin Dreams will not disappoint! Just let the music take you away!

These songs are upbeat and very "folky" in their feel. We love this CD and my 18 month old dances all around the house. Excellent!

This is an entertaining, thoughtful and fun collection of original music for children and their parents. Each song has its own special charm. Adults will enjoy it as much as their children. Be sure to buy several copies for all the special children in your life.

An eclectic compilation of folk songs.......2006-03-21

Kettle of Dreams is an eclectic compilation of folk songs with a Hawaiian tone, created by the award-winning composer Steve Kramer. With not a hint of modern MTV-style music for children, the album rarely features more than a guitar and a mellow mood. Steve Kramer's voice is soothing, fun and playful.

The album's Must Hear song is "Tutu I Love You, I Do!" For those unfamiliar with the Hawaiian term "Tutu," Kramer explains the meaning in the opening music. This song is a fabulous ode to grandparents:

Tutu, I love you, I do!
Grandmas and Grandpas are superstars
Each time the phone rings, it's true -
I wait by the doorway and hope it's Tutu!

And when dark clouds fill the sky
Or tears well up in my eyes,
I know they'll be someone to my rescue -
My Tutu!

On the other hand, "On My TV," glorifies television by declaring, "There's so much to see on my TV." Granted, the song makes the point that children see on television what they normally wouldn't in everyday life (other cultures, for example), but children shouldn't have the attachment to "my television" like adults have "my coffee." Making up for the TV-centric perspective is "I Took a Ride to the End of My Street," a lovely song about seeing what the world is like outside while searching for what is available in our natural environment.

What a fun, unique song "Aren't Animals Kinda Like People?" is! ("Do bees call their loved ones honey? Are sand-dollars good with money?") Parents are sure to relate to "Pick it up and Put it Away," a song encouraging children to clean up before someone asks - great for dancing to while cleaning with the kids!

The cd comes with a 20-page booklet of song lyrics and drawings. Even though his work has had attention throughout the US and in Great Britain, Kramer remains appreciative of local artistry in Hawaii. He also clearly has an appreciation of the animal world and of children's lives. -Caity McCardell

Finally Something worth the money!.......2005-11-23

Finally a Childrens CD thats woth every penny and more! I have already purchased three of these CD's for gifts for the holidays. The music is inspiring for all age groups. My daughter makes me play this CD over and over. I know almost all the words to each song by memory! You will not be dissapointed one bit with this CD. Kettle of Dreams is nothing short of a masterpiece!

I came back looking for more CD's by this artist. I hope there will be more, because we love "Kettle of Dreams." It's very smart and funny. This was a lucky find and I highly recommend it.
