About the Artist
As a classical guitarist studying at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Dusseldorf, Germany, Kamal soon felt constricted by the limitations of classical music. He took up the bass guitar and played with a variety of jazz and rock bands, always aware that he had yet to develop his own unique style and sound.

After years of band work, in 1984 Kamal discovered synthesizers and sequencers. His experiments excited him as he realized that he could create complex music using various instruments in combination with this technology. The music he has created since then, like all innovative art forms, defies categorization. It is both dynamic and soothing, celebrative and reflective. On the Quiet Earth-Dusk- as in all of his compositions, Kamal has produced a brilliant kaleidoscope of multidimensional moods and visions.

Dreamscapes describes a magical horizon of shooting stars, gentle waters and soaring birds carrying messages of inspired hope- a horizon expanded by the title track, a mythical journey evoking the earths slow shaping through the kneading hands of water and sky. As keyboards tumble through aural galaxies of synthesizer and flute. Tides of time evokes the mystery of human lifes evolution in often anxious chaos around the clear, meditative center of eternal spirit. Meeresleuchten (marine phosphorescence) celbrates the glowing twilight serenity of a universal ocean teeming with a millennium of life.

Mesmerizing!.......2002-08-25

I have had this CD for a few years now and it is one of my favorites that gets played over and over. I first heard it in a store,and as I stood there,between the aisles of books, I drifted into a peaceful serene place,visually and energetically, and knew I wanted to be able to go there again and again with the help of this beautiful music. If you absolutely adore the twilight time of the day,like I do, than this is for you. Peaceful, calming , beautiful..you won't be sorry. Enjoy

Evocative and transcendant - unique music .......2007-01-14

I bought this after hearing it on Music Choice digital cable on Sunday mornings while doing the crossword and have listened to it almost daily for over a year...really! The tracks suitably describe any vision of Earth at sunset yet as Kamal is from Australia, it's easy to imagine evening skies over the ocean - however, my favorite time of day to listen is dawn, (typically in the car on my way to work) when the eastern sky is silhouetting the hills and it never fails to bring a peaceful mindset to the day - shades of Eno drift through on Track 3 and 1 and 4 are my faves - a must have!!

This is my 2nd CD by Kamal, I also play "Into Silence" which is excellent music for meditation. "Quiet Earth" really expresses its environmental themes. You feel like you're moving over a vast country side, through the hills and into the forest. It's very evocative music and to me, has more compositional character than many other "space" music offerings.
