About the Artist
The Closet Surfers - Bio and Information
The Closet Surfers came out of the surf music closet in 1993. The band has opened for such surf legends as Dick Dale and The Sufaris. The music has been featured on H3O TV, and NBC Dark Skies. The band is heavily influenced by the Original Endless Summer sound track composed by the Sandals.
Rich Sumner plays drums, keyboards and produced the first two albums, but plays keyboards and percussion during the live gigs. Rich has played with other groups as a freelance artist including Oingo Boingo. Rich also produces Animation and Digital Video. He has completed commercial projects for Colgate, Ralphs Market and Toyota. He is a part time instructor of 3D animation at Cal State University Long Beach, Cal State University Fullerton.
Larry Treadwell on guitar. Larry is an accomplished writer as well a player. He was one of the original "Lost Toy People" while working with Thomas Dolby. Larry's album credits include Dolby's "Alien Ate My Buick".
BobbyD is a veteran LA bass player and singer. Bob has played on many albums and was one of the original members of the Sumner (not Rich Sumner) band in the 80s.
Rich plays drums in the Studio, so we have been lucky enough to have a few great drummers play the live gigs including: Johnny Vatos from Oingo Boingo, Sergio Gonzalez , Dave Marks, Berleigh Drummond, and Sinclair Lott.
