Another great album by David Miles Huber (51 bits per second), see at: www.51bpm.com, really great for sleep inducement. If you like it, you'll like also: "Mountain Streams", "Ocean Voyages", "Distant Thunder", "Mountain Serenety", "Spring Showers", "Awakenings", "Tropical Rainforest". Here in Brazil you can find only 4 titles as: 1.(Ocean Voyages): "Sons Da Natureza - A Viagem Dos Oceanos Vol. 28". 2.(Mountain Streams): "Sons Da Natureza - O Brotar Das Águas Vol. 27". 3.(Awakenings): "Sons Da Natureza - O Despertar Da Manha Vol. 29". 4.(Tropical Rainforest): "Sons Da Natureza - Floresta Tropical - Os Sons Da Vida Vol. 26. I think he is one of the bests in genere.

I have had tremendous success with baroque music. I have a subliminal relaxation tape I no longer listen to. I just think of the music. I got that about 10 years ago. I love the music so still listen now and then. I do believe that baroque music is more successful in taking you down into alpha and sometimes theta waves. For me, this is true.

My sister made a tape from her cd to see if I would like it. She does not. She is aries though. She has had the cd for a long time. It is damaged now.

I have looked in stores for the cd and never saw it. This baroque with waves in background is perfect for this pisces. I wish I had thought of amazon sooner. lol

My sister made a tape of this for me. She did not like this cd, which she had purchase a long time ago. And thought of me, since I do love Kitaro's earlier stuff also.

I on the other hand have had tremendous success with baroque music. I have a subliminal relaxation tape of baroque music. I don't even have to play it anymore. I just think of the music in the background. And I can feel the difference.

The baroque music with wave in the background sends this pisces to heaven. I know that it triggers the subliminal messages from the tape I have had for about 10 years now.

I am very happy with this CD.

As a longtime Weather Report fan, I of course had to get this. What is great is just how much I like it. Two longplaying discs of quite impressive renditions of WP played by excellent musicians lending their own bent and air.

My hesitation at first due to the fact that this is a tribute album were swept aside from the first song, this is some great stuff here!

After a good 9 or 10 months of listening to this, all I can say is that it is still in my top 3 discs to just throw on and enjoy.

The recording quality is very good. Excellent entertainment value IMO.

Is EVERY song on this collection great? No. But, some ARE great and most are well above average and nearly all of them capture the spirit and essence of the timeless sound of Weather Report. I have had these 2 CDs in my car for about 10 days and continue to be impressed by the quality of the music and irrepressible energy that went into this compilation. A song-by-song review is not necessary as there are too many to review. Buy and enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars One of the great things about this disc . . . .......2005-08-26

. . . is that it introduces listeners to musicians and bands they'd be unlikely to encounter stateside. For example, who in the US has ever heard (of) the band White House? I know I hadn't before encountering them on this tribute disc, and I'm very glad to make their acquaintance. Featuring some of the best young improvisers on the new Dutch jazz scene, including Yuri Honing on soprano and tenor sax (I do have a duo disc with him and Misha Mengleberg--very nice), Michiel Bortslap on piano, Rhodes, and Korg M 1 (another player not unknown stateside), Boudewijn Lucas on bass, shekere, and loop programming, Joost Lijbaart on drums, and Bart Fermie, percussion and voice (these latter three probably almost unknown in the US), this band creates a very attractive vibe and soundscape, kinda like if Medicine Wheel and the Claudia Quintet met and kissed, with a dollop of Benoit Delbecq and Omar Sosa (!) thrown in. Their track "Bombay" is my favorite, and I'm thrilled to have heard their unique music. A smart stateside label, such as Palmetto, should snatch them up.

What we've got here is a compilation disc featuring an incredibly wide assemblage of musicians, most of whom, although likely unknown to listeners, have not only been influenced by Weather Report, but have gone on to create spectacular and unique music that ventures far beyond that of their mentors.

Take for example Acoustic Mania, a duo comprising Antonio Foricione on nylon string guitar (I have a couple of wonderful discs by him) and Neil Stacey on guitar synthesizer (a name new to me). They do a spectacular version of "Birdland." This English-based duo has played and toured with John McLaughlin, and Martin Taylor, and other guitar-based groups.

"Scarlet Woman," featuring guitar wizard Torsten de Winkle; Janek Gwizdala, electric bass and programming; Audan Waage, trumpet; and Scott Kinsey, keyboards, also shines. This group puts many US jazz fusion outfits to shame. Indeed, one of the most impressive things about this disc is its showcasing of a wide variety of European acts that desperately deserve a hearing in the US.

Other standouts include "White Woods" by Tony Grey featuring Romain Collin, keyboards; Walter Smith III, sax; David Fiuczynski, guitar (someone almost always worth hearing); and Kenwood Dennard, drums; "Overlook Hotel" by Slop Shop, a group founded by Peter Schwalm, a Brian Eno collaborator; Clive Stevens' "Beat 17," perhaps the finest track on the album, featuring Stevens on keyboards, sax, and WX7-Midi-Wind Controller; Lincoln Goines, bass; Frank Colon, percussion; and Steve Garbory, sound design. But there's not a bad track on the entire disc. It's clear the producer Ulrich Vormehr searched far and wide for the best of Weather Report's heirs, and the results he achieved are nothing short of spectacular.

I had rather serious doubts about this project, but listening to a few samples convinced me that this was a serious project, not just some warmed over thrown together rip-off trying to capitalize on the name and reputation of perhaps the greatest jazz/rock fusion band ever.

Entirely worth checking out.

The case of Ernst Boehe (1880-1938; sometimes spelled Böhe) is like that of any number of musicians who started out to be composers but are ultimately remembered primarily for their work as conductors (one thinks of Weingartner and Furtwängler). In this case, the orchestra playing Boehe's music is the one that he essentially founded just after World War I, the one now-called the State Philharmonic of the Rhineland-Palatinate (Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz) based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. The music contained herein was all written in his twenties, and indeed he did not write much of anything after he took up conducting full-time. Here we have three tone poems, each more than twenty minutes long, each in the style of Richard Strauss, a kind of hyperchromatic, contrapuntal, richly orchestrated music intended to convey emotional states as well as points in a narrative. There is occasional full-brass bluster reminiscent of Bruckner. And there are occasionally interesting moments, but not enough to rescue these overblown concoctions.

First is the fourth section of a tetralogy called 'Aus Odysseus' Fahrten' ('From Ulysses' Voyages') called 'Odysseus' Heimkehr' ('Ulysses' Return Home'). It is a 29 minute description of the travails of Ulysses as he tries to return from his adventures to his faithful wife Penelope. Musically it is characterized by a paucity of memorable melodies that nonetheless are put through the harmonic grinder, with incessant modulation clothed in inventive orchestration. It all adds up to very little although the thrust of the music would have us believe that this is Important Stuff.

Much the same can be said for the other two works included here: 'Taormina,' a tone poem commemorating Boehe's vacation in Sicily, and 'Symphonisch Epilog zur einer Tragödie' ('Symphonic Epilog to a Tragedy'). Both are occasionally soured by some uncertain brass intonation.

One wants so much for this music to be more than it is, but the truth is that for all Boehe's skill as a manipulator of musical materials, he doesn't really have anything that important to say even though he keeps repeating it more loudly. It's probably just as well that he spent the majority of his adult life as a well-respected conductor in his native southern Germany.

The performances here by Werner Andreas Albert and the Rheinland-Pfalz Philharmonic are all one could expect. And the sound is full, rich and lifelike. And in spite of my cavils about this music, my hat is off to cpo for bringing us bits and pieces of late romantic music from Germany; otherwise we would not have had their marvelous releases of music by Emil von Reznicek from them ('Der Sieger' and 'Schlemihl').
