F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!.......2006-02-02
I've got the original music (including v2 and v3), the books (the best is Heitland's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Book; still in print);
the 22 VHS tapes issued in the early 1990's (a haphazard collection issued in no particular order of episodes that boasted famous guest stars). Can I please get the whole series on DVD? I have not seen Mother Fear toying with Illya (The Children's Day Affair) in over 40 years.
At LAST the complete series ORIGINAL soundtrack, the wait is over!.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Captured on this one disc are the great film scores Bernard Herrmann did for several classic science fiction films of the '50s and '60s. Herrmann did not go in for simple atmospherics and cheap orchestral tricks with his music. He knew that the music would have to conjure a mental world all its own. This is especially true in "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad". It's a tone poem Rimsky-Korsakov could have written. The best here is "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with its use of the (then) revolutionary theremin. It's a clear masterpiece, all on its own. --Paul Cook
Customer Reviews:
The other essential Herrmann CD.......2004-08-25
I like to think of this CD as being the "Forbidden Planet" of film scores CDs -- technically marvelous, consistently enthralling on an emotional and mental level, and way ahead of its time.
Unfortunately it is not available as I write this. Last time I visited this Amazon site, there was one CD for sale for almost $60. You'll have to make up your own mind if this music is worth that much to you. I made my choice long ago to own this and keep it in my library, conceivably forever.
With five film scores, 35 tracks and 72 minutes of the most high grade science fiction music, this CD should be considered the definitive source for Bernard Herrmann's non-Hitchcock film scores. Not only did he conduct the National Philharmonic Orchestra in these recordings, the composer approved of the Phase 4 recording and mixing. It is, as the notes say, a unique listening experience.
I have found this CD to be a constant source of imagination, vision and scope in film music that still has no peer 30 years after its production. The opening sequence to "Journey To The Center of the Earth" is better than it ever was in the theater, where the music was a hackneyed backdrop to an incredilbe film. In this CD, the music dwarfs the film action.
My favorite sequence in this issue is Herrmann's work for the Ray Bradbury novella "Fahrenheit 451", which was recast in some minds recently when "Fahrenheit 911" appeared in theaters throughout the country.
Every bit of the miracle of that little film is projected through this eerily wonderful music, which seems to comprise a world of its own. The sections help recall Sontag's first trip on the fire engine, the bedroom fire and the finale.
The lengthiest tract on this disk is the near 27 minute set from the film "Gulliver's Travels". I've never seen the movie but will attest that the music is out of this world in a very British way. This section seems closer to following the musical rules for a suite than any other on this disk.
Decca had the good sense to return the Bernard Herrmann-conducted Hitchcock scores to circulation, so maybe they will do the same with this miraculous disk. Again, the notes are nothing to write home about, but even with that considered no lover of film music or the music of Bernard Herrmann can consider their library complete without this disk.

Album Description
After a several year hiatus, Bloodlet are back to blow your mind with heavy, complex guitar riffs that drill through you like a diamond-studded bit and blood-curdling vocal delivery of their strangely beautiful lyrics. To prevent you from flat-lining under this bonecrushing onslaught, the wicked percussion acts as your pacemaker, steady and tribal throughout. With their groundbreaking, unique style, Bloodlet's new release, "Three Humid Nights In The Cypress Trees" greets a large following that has been clamouring in anticipation for over three years. Their trademark breakdowns with crushing climaxes are heightened and illuminated by Scott Angelacos' roaring vocals. Recorded in Chicago with producer Steve Albini,"Three Humid Nights In The Cypress Trees" showcases the band's most intense, insightful work to date. Previous releases served as a blueprint for the nu-metal and metal-core scenes that are enjoying huge popularity today, and "Three Humid Nights In The Cypress Trees" will drive sales beyond Bloodlet's large fanbase and into the mainstream of heavy music.

Is this it?.......2007-06-17
Own the Eclectic album as a purist. Own Entheogen as a barnacle clinging to the Titanic. Own The Seraphim Fall as a member of the faith. Don't own Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Tree. Sorry Steve Albini... I'll calm down, but I'm shaking.
underated!.......2006-04-08
Whilst I respect the views expressed here, please do not be put off by some of the more negative comments regarding this album. I bought all 4 recently, and I honestly rate this as their best. The album has an earthy groove to the sound, Scott Angelacos' vocals ( clean singing plus growly) suit the music perfectly and I am dismayed they broke up after this album. It is a natural ( though far more rewarding) progression from 'The Seraphim fall',it does not rampage in all out fury but is far more sophisticated than the 2 early albums. It stands well amidst all their output, and anyone into Today is the Day and Neurosis will enjoy this music.
bloodet has no blood left.......2004-08-31
if youve ever really listened to bloodlet's older material or ever seen them play live, then youll know that this album is crap. with both charlie(drums) and art(bass) both gone, its no wonder that the life is missing. face it: they just arent the same. this album was a good attempt at trying to maintain a unique chemistry, but its not good enough. bloodlet is one of those bands that were blessed with insane talent and genius. im just glad i got to see them and listen to them before this album came out. otherwise, id feel a distinct loss. instead i feel cheated. scott, who is an amazing lyricist, seems to overdo his approach and over-simplify his content. its almost as if he is trying to carry the evil-ness of bloodlet all on his own. this album feels like a complete 180 after the beauty of his predecessor. this album id listen to after i had no cd's left to listen to.
Hard to describe, but easy to enjoy.......2002-10-02
How do I begin to describe this album? I havent had an album beat me over the head like this with its creativity and sheer talent so far this year, save for the new Norma Jean. I had previously never heard of these guys before (ironically enough, theyre from my home state)until I caught this cd sitting on a rack at Best Buy. I took a random chance and snagged it, not really knowing what to expect. I still dont really know how to describe it really; Most of the songs leave me with that weirded-out feeling I get from Today Is The Day, Neurosis, The Melvins, and other genre pushing bands well schooled in uncompromising strangeness. The riffs are so brutally technical and creative--these guys are light years beyond the hardcore genre they hail from. The bassist is also extraordinarily talented, throwing down some bizarre plodding sounds that twist and pull your mind every which way. The vocals add to the chaos as well, weaving from a depressed sounding wail to a blood-soaked gutteral howl. What strikes me most is how everything flows so well together to paint a picture of total depravity and human suffering, something I havent heard from any other band except the mighty Today Is The Day. If youre into the Relapse grind/noise bands (Unsane, Brutal Truth, Today Is The Day, Neurosis) or extremely depressing anxiety ridden aggressiveness a la Eyehategod, give this band a shot. Theyre playing here with GWAR this weekend--I plan to be front row yelling along and snagging their other discs. These guys are the real deal when it comes to mood inducing, mind melting music. Dont miss it.
New bloodlet is not the old bloodlet.......2002-09-19
Bloodlet used to be the most amazing band ever. Now they sound like a more metal creed. I am sorry they chose to "dumb" down there music. I really liked them.

Album Description
The popular children's picture book comes to life with this marvelous recording of spoken word and music. Based on the best selling picture book by Angela Elwell Hunt which has been printed in fourteen languages featuring Tim Jonkes award winning illustrations (W.H. Smith Anderson award in England). Billboard Magazine called the original cassette version, a classic. Beautifully packaged, the soundtrack features the first collaboration between Jeff Johnson and Brian Dunning and was the catalyst for their work together on the "Songs From Albion" series and "Music of Celtic Legends - The Bard & The Warrior" released by Windham Hill Records. The musical score features keyboards, flute, recorder, percussion, and bass, as well as an opening song written and performed by Jeff Johnson. This full length CD features the original narrated story and music score featured on the cassette release as well as the various instrumental and song mixes without narration. With many school and church groups interested in presenting their own production of the story, the CD offers all of the elements youll need for musical background to your own narration, acting, and choreography.

Wonderful, Creative Retelling of the Beloved Tale.......2000-07-26
This is a masterpiece. The Tale of Three Trees, which is well on its way to becoming an enduring classic, has been beautifully rendered in music. Jeff Johnson provides a moving musical accompaniment to the simple, powerful story.

A serious composition of music.......2000-12-07
The artists on this CD have formed an interesting and moving insight into the Jewish music. The music at times can be very operatic in nature and at other times they can be so riveting you feel yourself being moved by the pure poetry of their assonance. If you want to have several emotions at once this would be the one to get for your collection. You get to hear the words of the Hebrew language and it so beautiful. If you don't understand Hebrew it does not really matter I believe the essence of the language is there and you will understand their intentions and meaning. You are constantly swept in emotions when you hear the lyrics and rhythm.
